[Bug 1973654] Re: Using debian-installer on a server with a Let's Encrypt cert dies
I believe this is caused by debootstrap - it only uses packages from the release pocket (and this is frozen from the time Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was originally released). This is a known issue https://askubuntu.com/questions/744684/latest-security-updates-with- debootstrap but I am not sure if there is much you can do to get debian- installer to say use multistrap instead of debootstrap. ** Package changed: ca-certificates (Ubuntu) => debian-installer (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973654 Title: Using debian-installer on a server with a Let's Encrypt cert dies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1973654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1973434] Re: massive performance issues since 22.04 upgrade
Hi Henning, That is great news that "intel_iommu=off" on the kernel command line did the trick. You can follow this bug to get updates on when we will be disabling IOMMU by default in the 5.15 kernel. It should be soon, the patches are already submitted, and reviewed by the kernel team. The next step is for the patch to be applied to the git tree and the next kernel update built. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1971699 I'll let you know once there is a kernel in -proposed with IOMMU disabled. The patches missed this current SRU cycle, and will be in the next one, so it might be in a few weeks / months time. [Bug 1973669] [NEW] 10_linuxzfs fails if a non-root filesystem has a mountpoint of /
Public bug reported: For ~4 years, this server ran Ubuntu-18.04 with the OS on mirrored SSDs and all persistent data in a zpool on separate disks. Last week I upgraded it. Installation of Ubuntu-22.04 ZFS-root on a new SSD ran flawlessly. But after importing the persistent data pool, update-grub (specifically 10_linux_zfs) found the valid kernels but wouldn't create grub entries for them so /boot/grub/grub.cfg only contained memtest86. 10_linux_zfs's section of grub-mkconfig output is below. The problem turned out to be a FreeBSD backup I'd zfs-send/rec'd to the Ubuntu system 2 years ago. At the time, I added a prefix ("zmule") to all of the FreeBSD filesystems' mountpoints and turned off "canmount". Somehow I missed the *actual* root filesystem so it was still set to mount on '/' with "canmount" enabled - though Ubuntu22.04 wouldn't mount it on top of /, so I never noticed it. However, that's what was confusing /etc/grub.d/10_linux_zfs even though 18.04 was fine with it. Once I changed FreeBSD's root mountpoint to not '/', update-grub ran as expected. I know this is a strange, unusual situation that shouldn't happen, but a missing /etc/os-release file in one root(ish) filesystem shouldn't block it from creating entries for valid ones. If you'd like me to break it again and run 10_linux_zfs with 'set -x' or similar, I'll be happy to do that. (I'm a Linux SRE professionally so breaking stuff is all in a days work.) [Bug 1972766] Re: Changing default mounting options causes root owner
The problem is, if you want a partition to be auto-mounted, you either must edit the fstab or THE INSTRUCTIONS are to turn off the "default" mounting in gnome disk utility and it will auto-mount. However, the auto-mounting is done as system root and I don't have access to it. So I must google and google and more google until I find that I put some settings like uuid=1000. This is a big problem. Why? Well I setup my 22.04 with a full wipe, but kept my data partition. My git was totally broken on my data partition and I thought it was ubuntu 22.04 But then with just git and ubuntu and vscode it worked.. so I installed the rest of the apps and it broke (I also setup my data partition to auto-mount) then I thought it was my proton vpn which was the only ppa It took a long time to realize it was the auto-mount .. merely changing defaults switch. I had wiped my system 3 times before I figured this out. Then I had to do a lot of googling to auto-mount for myself. It seems very logical that I would want to use a drive that I setup as automount. If the user is selecting auto-mount, why not automatically allow that user to read access? Instead it defaults to system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1972766 Title: Changing default mounting options causes root owner To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1972766/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1966886] Re: ssh-copy-id and Dropbear Server
Just to add a voice to this: we see the same things migrating from 18.04 to 22.04 while controlling some embedded ARM/Debian devices running dropbear. The key are indeed appearing in the wrong place as stated above and the log in does not proceed as expected. We can work around this for production systems, but the behaviour is confusing (and obviously not consistent between 18.04 and 22.04). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1966886 Title: ssh-copy-id and Dropbear Server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1966886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1973152] Re: Wrong timezone automatically selected during installation
New ISP, now my systems keep thinking I'm in Denver (even my Chromebook!). Closing this as invalid, since even Chrome OS is affected. This is my Internet's fault, not Ubuntu's (unless there's something wrong with GNU/Linux so deep that it affects Ubuntu and Chrome OS, which I seriously doubt). ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Description changed: + This bug is the fault of either all of GNU/Linux (unlikely), or it's my + ISP's fault (way more likely). + + Original report: + Note: This bug might be the fault of my ISP - I'm using Verizon's Premium Mobile Hotspot plan as my home internet, and I've noticed a similar problem in Lubuntu Jammy. Seems like this bug probably would have been caught back then, so I'm pretty sure this isn't Ubuntu's fault, but just in case, I'm posting it. I'm about to have a different ISP most likely tomorrow, so I'll be able to test again then. Testing Ubuntu Kinetic in a VM, doing the "Install (entire disk with lvm and encryption)" test. Same host hardware and software as present in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1973150 In step 18 of the test, the timezone automatically detected is New York. I'm in the Chicago timezone, and had to manually select it. This contradicts the testcase, which states that the timezone and city displayed should match my timezone and the main city from my area. Steps to reproduce the bug: 1: Download the Ubuntu Kinetic daily ISO from 2022-05-11. Here's the link: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20220511.1/kinetic-desktop-amd64.iso 2: Open virt-manager, and ensure that you have a connection to "QEMU/KVM User session". (If you don't, you can create this connection in virt-manager by clicking "File", "Add Connection", selecting "QEMU/KVM user session" in the "Hypervisor" drop down, then clicking "Connect". 3: Create a new VM under QEMU/KVM user session. Select the Kinetic ISO downloaded above, set the OS to "Ubuntu 21.04" (that's the newest version my virt-manager recognizes), and give it 4 GB RAM, 2 CPU cores, and 20 GB of disk space. 4: Follow the steps in this test procedure: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/433/builds/247872/testcases/1451/results Expected result: In step 18 of the test, the timezone automatically detected should match the timezone the user is in. Actual result: The timezone automatically detected is somewhere not even close to where the user is. [Bug 1973101] Re: After upgrade to 22.04 NFS exports for vers 2 and 3 no longer work
This is just plain WRONG. The issue is NOT the kernel, upstream or otherwise. I am using 5.17.7 compiled directly from kernel source off of kernel.org, and was using the SAME kernel under 20.04. The issue was your new configuration file, /etc/nfs.conf, that did not exist prior to 22.04, and thus I had no reason to look for it, having UDP disabled by default even for versions 2 and 3 of NFS which makes ZERO sense as version 2 and 3 of NFS did not support TCP. Once I was made aware of this conf file by you simply turning version 2 and UDP on resolved my issues. You can close this bug if you like but having udp = n by default in this conf file is dumb, the current upstream kernel supports it just fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973101 Title: After upgrade to 22.04 NFS exports for vers 2 and 3 no longer work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-utils/+bug/1973101/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
