I typed the "Software-center" command in the terminal and this is what i
got:

I tried the workaround suggested in #57, and it doesn't work on an R840

[Bug 832483] Re: Toshiba R835-P56X - screen brightness control does not work after suspend/resume

2012-01-17 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
I've got the same issue on the Toshiba Tecra R840. I looked at the
following thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1550219 and
there was a fix which involved using toshset to turn the backlight on
after adjusting the levels.

When typing "toshset -bl on" into the terminal after adjusting the
levels as required, the backlight will subsequently change to that
level.

Its a temporary fix, but better than nothing. There are also a couple of
scripts at the bottom of the page that allow you to bind the brightness-
up down keys to the command. However, it doesn't allow gnome/KDE power
managers to control the backlight.

[Bug 904734] [NEW] Incomplete documentation for Setting up an Ubuntu Wired/Wireless Router

2011-12-15 Thread Abhinay
Public bug reported:

For "Setting up an Ubuntu Wired/Wireless Router" (Link:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Router) in Ubuntu Documentation there
was no guide in setting up a DNS Server. It was given the DHCP3-Server
setting up guide as a link for setting up DNS Server
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/dhcp3-server). But that is not
correct.

I think, the proper link to be given in setting up the DNS Server is
Ubuntu's documentation: BIND9ServerHowTo
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIND9ServerHowto).

Please do check it.

Abhinay

[Bug 422174] Re: cannot connect to hidden ssid

2009-12-10 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
I can confirm this bug on the stable release of Karmic, with KDE 4.3.4
updates applied. Furthermore, the iwlist wlan0 scan essid hiddenap
workaround doesn't work for me. Knetworkmanager simply refuses to
acknowledge the existence of the hidden AP even though iwlist sees it.

I can't believe this bug is listed as Medium. In my opinion, it is
absolutely critical that this be fixed. I can't connect to my hidden
University Network because of this bug, and its extremely frustrating.

There still isn't an option for Dynamic WEP as Legolas mentioned. Hmm,
I'll look at the knetworkmanager source at some point and see if they're
added it. I think the kubuntu devs just merged the most recent changes
from CVS, and they must not have included Dynamic WEP.

[Bug 165093] Re: [nvidia] Xorg crashes with /usr/bin/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0x1e1)

2008-03-17 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
I've listed it as invalid on nvidia-glx-new, since it most definitely
isn't a problem with the nvidia driver. I've experienced it on both
nvidia and ati systems(using both the free and proprietary ati drivers
and nvidia-glx-new). Furthermore, it has also been reported on an Intel
card above.

The only common link is that all of them were using composite at the
time. There is also a bug on the xorg bugzilla, which seems to be the
same problem, here (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10617).
So, I've linked this bug to that. All we can do now is wait I guess :)

[Bug 194780] Re: [hardy] power manager does not suspend/hibernate

2008-03-08 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
I can confirm this on my laptop as well, a Dell XPS m1530. I can suspend
from the Kubuntu shut-down menu, but not from the guidance-power-manager

lid!

However, Hibernate works just fine from the guidance power manager menu.
Its just suspend that's causing the issue.

[Bug 105899] Re: KNetworkManager Should Support "Key Type" Selection under WPA Enterprise

2008-03-08 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
Hello again,

Seeing there was no response to my above post, I thought I'd try
compiling knetworkmanager from svn. Unfortunately, I haven't had much
success. The changelog reveals that the above patches were in fact
merged into the codebase quite some time back (around october last
year). I'm surprised they haven't made it into Debian or Ubuntu.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has successfully compiled
knetworkmanager on kubuntu from svn before. I can successfully run
./configure, however, making the package seems to throw a bunch of
errors and not actually compile any binaries.

Cheers

[Bug 105899] Re: KNetworkManager Should Support "Key Type" Selection under WPA Enterprise

2008-03-03 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
Hello,

I've got the same issue trying to connect to my university network. I
was wondering if the patches mentioned in the above post could make it
into hardy. I'm running Hardy Alpha 5 at the moment, and am yet to see
them.

Cheers

[Bug 71913] New Bug Report

2007-12-06 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
Hello everyone,

A lot of you have reported a backtrace containing the following error, or
something similar.
/usr/bin/X(CompositeGlyphs+0x9a) [0x816129a]

Diego Gaustein has opened a new bug report to collate the occurrences of
any error involving "CompositeGlyphs". So far, we have a confirmed
report from Diego himself(using an nVidia card) and myself(using an
ATi). It would be helpful if the others who are experiencing this bug,
could migrate to the other thread, so that we can figure out which
package the error lies in :) It would also hopefully bring the bug in
this thread to a conclusion.

The aforementioned bug report is here:

[Bug 165093] Re: [nvidia-glx-new] Xorg crashes with /usr/bin/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0x1e1)

2007-12-06 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
I believe Xorg is at fault. I've had it happen to me other than times
that I use Yakuake, but that's the easiest way to reproduce it. Whatever
it is, I'm quite sure Nvidia isn't at fault, since it happens to me with
an ATI card, and as seen on the other bug report, it happened to someone
with an Intel card too.

Btw... you can probably mark the bug as confirmed as well :)

Its interesting that Yakuake doesn't seem to cause you issues. People on
this thread have similar issues, and one of them (other than me :))
mentions Yakuake as well...

[Bug 165093] Re: Not an Nvidia Bug

2007-12-06 Thread Abhinay Mukunthan
This isn't an Nvidia bug, since my backtrace is exactly the same when using
compiz or kwin-composite(kde3).
I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 Mobility with the DRI drivers shipped by default
in gutsy. I've recreated the error deliberately a couple of times, and the
backtraces are always identical.

The best way to recreate the bug is to run Yakuake, and do something intensive
on it, such as running apt-get.
Repeatedly hiding and showing Yakuake is almost sure to cause the crash.

My backtrace is attached for reference:

[Bug 165093] Re: Only with a Compositing Manager

Oh.. I forgot to mention, the bug only occurs when a compositing manager
is used. Its fine as long as normal Kwin is run.

[Bug 67002] Bug in deskbar applet

2006-10-19 Thread Abhinay
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

Choose deskbar from "Add to Panel ", add the deskbar to panel (which is
complete Opaque). goto deskbar preferences, in View tab select Button in
panel, then i got fallowing error :

A programming error has been detected.

It probably isn't fatal, but should be reported to the developers
nonetheless. The program may behave erratically from now on.

Same bug : Lets say the deskbar is in the Button in the panel view. Now
go to gnome-panel properties (The panel where the deskbar resides), in
the Background tab, select Solid color , move the slider to complete
Opaque. (If already in Opaque, then move the slider to Transparent and
then Opaque ). Then i got a popup "Bug Detected".

Same here. I believe this is a known problem as far as kopete goes, and
the devs aren't going to fix it till KDE4 comes out. I do wish I could
get it working though!
