[Bug 1892521] Re: UI bug - system fonts enlarge after every reboot
Adrian , let me help you out here STEP 1 : Open up text editor STEP 2 : type in the following(for a scaling factor of 1.0): #!/bin/sh dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/interface/text-scaling-factor 1.01 dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/interface/text-scaling-factor 1.0 STEP 3 : save it as a script(scripts end with .sh) say textfix.sh ; anywhere you like. STEP 4 : open up Startup Applications(It is a program included in Ubuntu by default). STEP 5 : In startup applications click on add. STEP 6 : Then in the NAME column type in something relevant like font fix(this is optional). STEP 7 : For the COMMAND column click browse and select the script that we made earlier. The command column will be filled with the path to the script now. Before the path name, type in the word 'bash'.Now the command column will be filled with something like this 'bash /pathToScript'. STEP 8 : Click on add(The comment column too is optional). STEP 9 : now close startup applications , and reboot. STEP 10 : Things will now return back to normal , so rejoice! Re: [Bug 1434758] Re: mysqld: errno: 24 - Too many open files
Hi Robie, The internal assessment here is that most appropriate solution would be the one you have mentioned as the last option. It would be easier if user owns the responsibility for creating and managing the MySQL service file under /etc with following settings or more as needed: [Service] LimitNOFILE=x LimitMEMLOCK=x This will help in avoiding any conflict between user settings and package settings. We may add a comment to explain this to the users. Please let me know if you need more information. I understand though that users do want to be able to tune the value. So, what else can we do? It seems to me that now that we're using systemd there are two different places where the setting can be made - from my.cnf, or from the systemd service definition - whereas previously users tended to do it in just my.cnf. Having it set in two places is confusing. my.cnf cannot raise beyond the systemd setting, but we cannot make the systemd setting infinity because of the security concern above. So given that I don't want to change systemd's default to infinity, I think it makes sense to expect users to change the systemd service definition (copy /lib/systemd/system/mysql.service to /etc/systemd/system/ and set LimitNOFILE etc there) if they want to change the default value, and to not set open_files_limit in my.cnf at all. If this is reasonable, then this bug is Invalid. Is it reasonable? [Bug 1001936] Re: GTK3 Grab/Move Triggered on Mouse Click
Same problem can be reproduced when with menubar: 1. Open nautilus 2. Drag window by clicking and moving window with empty menubar or toolbar area 3. Click to any menu entry on menu bar. 4. Go out of menu Sometimes window jumps right-down and becomes grabet until mouse click And most annoying for me is ShotWell: 1. Open any image 2. Open color correction dialog 3. Move dialog somewhere 4. Click and drag levels slider 5. Release mouse button Once again dialog jumps somewhere. Bug seems related to xfwm both 4.8 and 4.10. I can't reproduce this bug with fluxbox Debian Sid amd64 ** Bug watch added: Xfce Bugzilla #8949 http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8949 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001936 Title: GTK3 Grab/Move Triggered on Mouse Click To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1001936/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I just installed ubuntu 9.10 on this old-ish PC (2004). I connect to the internet using the ipheth driver, by tethering to my iphone 3g using USB. I followed the instructions on this website: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/iphone-tethering-on-ubuntu-9-10-karmic.html. It works well, but what started off this error was when i suspended the system. When i suspend, the whole system powers off (i dont know if its supposed to do this), and on a mouse-click, it powers on again, without booting up again. When it powered on again was when i saw this error symbol on the top of the screen, and it was not tethering to the iphone. I shut down, and restarted the system, and was using the internet via tethering, and suddenly, again i see that error symbol. But this time, the network connection remained, and i'm filing this bug using the same connection. So I dunno whats really going on. [Bug 173629] Apple Mac Mini doesn't boot without monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15 If I turn off the monitor, linux doesn't boot until I turn it on again. The machine is very hot, with the fan at top speed, so it should be in a busy wait. I've waited up to 5 minutes without any result. The kernel boots adding this option to the boot line: video=radeonfb:ignore_edid But then, when I turn on the monitor it can work only at 640x480. I've to reboot the machine to get it working at higher resolutions. The solution is for radeon chips but I have a Intel 950 GMA chip which will have some other setting or might not support this option.
