Thanks for answering :-) I cannot test again, as i switched away from ubuntu due to other long lasting bugs with trashing data unfixed (for example usb-creator, or undocumented fstab options...) very unhappy Additional information: after rebuilding from dget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/p/plplot/plplot_5.9.2-3.dsc apt-get build-dep plplot cd plplot-5.9.2 debuild -us -uc sudo debi the installed packages are out-dated, so upgrade manager want to replace them. I had to change revision numer of the package to keep it working. Also, it installs ada, java (i don't want gcj), fortran... and everything when i only wanted octave_plplot. I am speaking about DOCUMENTING the changes made on tools, whereas the other is about behavior of tools. The only way i found to have the desired locale is to edit files in /var/lib/locales/supported.d This is NOT DOCUMENTED btw localpurge does not purge /usr/lib/locale correctly, for example it keeps en_ZW even if i did not checked it.
