[Bug 597654] [NEW] -hosts map does not work with /net nfs shares on a solaris server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: autofs5 Description:Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Release:10.04 autofs5: Installed: 5.0.4-3.1ubuntu5 Candidate: 5.0.4-3.1ubuntu5 Version table: *** 5.0.4-3.1ubuntu5 0 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status When trying to mount nfs shares using /net and -hosts map i receive a failure message: r...@gbrowse-1:~# ls /net/brunello/ ls: cannot access /net/brunello/: No such file or directory and this is the expected output: [r...@ribolla ~]# ls -l /net/brunello total 0 dr-xr-xr-x 6 root root 0 Jun 23 12:08 export The machine named ribolla is a Centos 5.3 where autofs is working as expected. The expected behaviour can also be seen while browsing a different machine called filer, running hardy: r...@gbrowse-1:~# ls -l /net/filer total 0 dr-xr-xr-x 4 root root 0 2010-06-23 12:49 home drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2010-06-23 12:49 opt dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2010-06-23 12:49 srv I suspect that the bug is something related to the parsing of the exports output of the nfs server. [Bug 263788] [NEW] fence_manual is missing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cman The command fence_manual is missing so when it's called from fence_node it generates an error. This is still a bug in hardy. I'm having the same issue using -server and -xen kernels in all of my machines. After the installation the machine was rebooted (and I had the first issue with usplash wrongly set to 1440x1440, but something similiar was already reported in a separate bug) and as X started I've noticed something wrong and it is still what I am seeing now: about 1/8 of the screen is missing from the left side and there are also black borders on the top and on the right side. I'll attach a picture to explain it better. I've tried to set different values in xorg.conf but none worked. The closest thing to a solution I came to is the following: 1) add the Option DDC false in the Monitor section. This way GDM starts at 1024x768. 2) one logged in gnome it is possible to change the resolution using the tool under Preferences or using xrandr. [Bug 65788] Re: Hangs at boot on AMD64
Sorry, the system has 2 Dual core opterons, not 4 cpus. Anyway i've tried it on a third machine with dual core opterons and it hanghed there too. The latest messages I see are: Initializing CPU#1 Initializing CPU#2 Brought up 4 CPUs Initializing CPU#3 migration_cost=522 Grant table initialized NET: registered protocol 16 ACPI: bus type pci registered PCI: Using configuration type 1 And nothing more. The same happened on these three dual-cpu system while 2.6.16 works well instead (tried it loading almost 8 virtual machines). [Bug 61966] Re: Usability: cannot change volume names
I think that the label can be written only if the user has the permission to write directly on the block device and this isn't done by default. If with rw access to the drive you mean rw access to the mountpoint I think it is the cause of the problem. -- Usability: cannot change volume names https://launchpad.net/bugs/61966 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 61966] Re: Usability: cannot change volume names
Sorry for the double post. I think that the correct beahviour should be this: 1) the user plugs an external drive; 2) hal should change the block device ownership to the current console user, in order to allow it to edit the partitions, format the drive etc... 3) the drive gets mounted 4) nautilus should have a wrapper to e2label and something similar to write on vfat partitions. -- Usability: cannot change volume names https://launchpad.net/bugs/61966 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 61966] Usability: cannot change volume names
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus These are the steps to reproduce it: 1) plug a drive (i.e. usb pendrive or similiar); 2) wait for it to be mounted on /media/$LABEL or /media/usbdisk if the partition isn't labeled; 3) open the Computer window; 4) right click on the usbdisk icon and select properties; 5) the textfield containing the volume name is editable, so edit it and then press enter or click on the close button. So, the textfield should appear as readonly if the user cannot edit the current object. There is also a poor support for partitions labels: i could edit an ext3 label using e2label (it required root access) but the fastest way to edit a vfat label was to backup the data and reformat the volume passing the correct option to mkfs. The only alternative would have been installing and configuring mtools. Both the methods appear to be beyond the knowledge of the average user. Should I open a different bug (to which package) for this one? ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Usability: cannot change volume names https://launchpad.net/bugs/61966 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
