[Bug 348432] Re: Jaunty - after upgrade from 8.10, no window decorator at login

2009-04-24 Thread Alex Zvoleff
I also see this (in an upgrade from Intrepid to Jaunty). I tried
removing all compiz packages, removing the .compiz folder, and then
reinstalling compiz, but there was no change. Regardless of whether I
turn compiz on or off (via Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects),
I have the same problem: GDM starts without a window decorator.

I still see this on 2.6.24-17. Every few minutes, particularly if I
leave the laptop for a few minutes and then come back to it, the mouse
will freeze. If I stop moving the mouse when it hangs, the system will
recover. If I continue to move the mouse after the system stops
responding, I get a kernel panic (caps-lock and num-lock flashing). I
have a Dell D620 with Intel 3945 wireless.

I still see this slow behavior on my machine (i386 using compiz on an
nvidia running the 100.14.19 driver). I will try the packages without
assertions.

[Bug 139282] Re: Gnome Power Manager Suspends when computer is in Use

2007-10-05 Thread Alex Zvoleff
I still am seeing this behavior. Generally the computer suddenly
suspends in this manner, it will not resume regularly (I must restart).
Attached is my syslog. See line around 1213 "Oct 5 11:11:07 azvoleff-
laptop kernel: [ 7475.476000] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep". Note
that I was actively using the computer (typing, and touchpad) when the
computer suddenly suspended.

[Bug 139282] Gnome Power Manager Suspends when computer is in Use

2007-09-12 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Public bug reported:

My laptop (a dell Latitude d620) will automatically suspend even when I
am using it. My computer is set to sleep in 1 hour when not using it on
AC power, but even when I am actively typing, it will suspend itself
after an hour. I use the inhibit applet to keep it from doing so, and a
message will pop up after an hour saying the inhibit applet kept gnome-
power-manager from putting my computer to sleep.

[Bug 133737] Calendar display hidden behind open windows in gnome-panel clock

2007-08-20 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Public bug reported:

I am running gnome with compiz from the ubuntu repos. Wnen I click on
the panel clock, it pulls up a calendar. However, if there is an
application open, the calendar opens behind the application window. So
the calendar is useless unless no windows are open. The calendar
display should come up in front of any open windows.

[Bug 113038] Re: Cannot resume from suspend with kvm modules loaded

2007-08-16 Thread Alex Zvoleff
I can still confirm this behavior on gutsy tribe-4 2.6.22-9 kernel.
Adding "kvm" and "kvm-intel" to the /etc/default/acpi-support list of
modules to unload prior to suspending allows my machine to resume from
suspend. Otherwise, the machine (a dell latitude D620) will hang on
resume.

An easier fix:

[Bug 102514] Can't eject external USB hard drive

2007-04-03 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Public bug reported:

I have an external USB hard drive with two partitions. One is ReiserFS
and one is HFS+ . When I plug in the USB cable, both partitions
correctly automount. Under edgy, ejecting one partition ejected both
(when ejecting by right clicking on the drive on the desktop and
selecting eject). Under feisty, I was until recently able to eject them
individually. Now, when I right click and select eject on either
volume, I get an error message 'cannot eject volume' and both drives
disappear from my desktop, then immediately reappear and open
automatically. The only way to eject seems to be via "sudo umount
/media/volumename", which does work correctly.

[Bug 94813] starting gparted mounts all devices

2007-03-22 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gparted

Whenever I start gnome-partition-editor, all my partitions are mounted
(I have 6 total) even though three are not mounted when the system
starts up. Still, for some reason gparted mounts there three others
when it starts. It also mounts all the devices when you select refresh
devices. This is rather annoying as windows then come up for all of the
newly mounted partitions in nautilus.

[Bug 92159] Re: Cannot load kvm and subsequent "oops"

2007-03-14 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Confirmed here. See bug 92291 regarding failure of kvm-intel to load.
Then, I start to get a kernel "oops" with almost anything I run in a
virutal terminal.

[Bug 91473] Deskbar search results span multiple screens with Twinview

2007-03-11 Thread Alex Zvoleff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

Using Deskbar 2.16.0 under ubuntu, with an Nvidia card with multiple
monitors and twinview enabled; the search results display incorrectly.
The results list spans both monitors when twinview is enabled and the
monitors are set up in a vertical configuration. When the two monitor
resolutions vary, part of the results list cannot be seen. It would be
simpler; and solve the problem, if the results list could be constrained
to only appear on one monitor, and not span both of them.
