[Bug 1441423] Re: printers not listed

I wonder if un-ticking the view - discovered printers can resolve showing
duplicated printers? I think this might address your point 3.

[Bug 1441423] Re: printers not listed

2015-04-28 Thread Alfred
Same problem as quiricada says in #8, if I un-share a printer, it cannot
be listed in 'system-config-printer'.

I think this happens after I upgrade from ubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 at Apr.
24. But today I just find it because I want to print something, but
cannot find any printers listed in print dialog.

View menu : 'Discovered Printers' is checked

If I un-check Publish shared printers ... in system-config-printer -
server - settings, this problem disappears (unshared printers can be
found). Do I misunderstand this option? Or anything wrong here?

[Bug 1303462] [NEW] [Regression] Window titlebars placed behind panel

Public bug reported:

Windows with a height of (Display Height - Panel Height) get placed at y=0

[Bug 1303468] [NEW] [Regression] Unity Gestures: 4 Finger Tap directly after login results in empty dash

2014-04-06 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

The problem:
If the dash has not been opened before using the Super-Key or launcher icon,
the 4 finger tap results in showing an empty dash that does not have the home
scope selected.

The fix:
Show the home scope if the dash is opened the first time after login using the
4 finger tap.

[Bug 1303060] [NEW] Unity Gestures don't honor alt_tab_bias_viewport setting

2014-04-05 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

My new Elantech touchpad supports Unitys multitouch gestures, but I've noticed
one inconsistency.
I like seeing running applications from all workspaces in my Alt-Tab view,
but by using the three-finger gestures on my touchpad I can only see
applications on the current workspace.

When I uncheck alt_tab_bias_viewport in CCSM, I expect Alt-Tab as well
as Unity Gestures to behave the same way.

The problem:
The switcher only shows applications running on the current workspace when
using Unity Gestures,
even though I've unchecked Bias alt-tab to prefer windows on the current
viewport.

The fix:
Show all windows if alt_tab_bias_viewport is unchecked.

[Bug 1303141] [NEW] [Regression] Unity Gestures: Launcher doesn't slide in

2014-04-05 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

I just tried Ubuntu 12.04.4 from a USB stick to compare it to 14.04.
On 12.04 the launcher does slide in beautifully and in sync with the fingers
when swiping with 4 fingers from left to right on a touchpad.

On 14.04 the launcher suddenly appears, giving no hint on whether the gesture
acually works or how far the launcher is slided in.

[Bug 1303149] [NEW] Unity Gestures don't work if the mouse pointer is over a Qt5 window (QtCreator)

2014-04-05 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

As the title suggests, Unity multitouch gestures don't work if the mouse
pointer
is on a Qt5 window, for example QtCreator. It doesn't even matter if the window
is focused or not.
The mouse pointer even gets stuck when doing 4 finger gestures stays that way
until I press the Super key to reveal the dash.

[Bug 1281370] Re: Unity should use Normal resize mode by default

2014-02-20 Thread Alfred Neumayer
When resizing windows the decorator should probably wait for the window content
to finish drawing until the window gets resized further.
Currently, it looks like there are really bad visual artefacts (at least
normal people would perceive it as such) in some applications like LibreOffice
or Chromium.

Especially in Chromium: Create a new tab and resize the window to change its
width/height ratio.
You'll see that the thumbnails will move around, causing a redraw in the window
content which is not synchronized with the decoration. I might be picky about
this but in its current state, normal resize doesn't look good to me.

this should be looked at very soon. It would be a bummer if such an
obvious UX inconsistency lands in an LTS release.

[Bug 304477] Re: Ctrl-L is a poor keybinding for Clear

2013-09-04 Thread Alfred Daw
To fix the problems this fix causes on XChat, go to Settings - Advanced -
Keyboard Shortcuts.
Add new - Highlight the net entry (at the bottom) - Mod = Ctrl, Key = l, Data
1 = /clear and the drop down box should be set to Run Command.
(If you want this to also work on ctrl+L, add one with an L rather than an l,
too.)

[Bug 1195905] Re: Quantumclient is rejecting a valid token and throwing Unauthorized exception

2013-06-30 Thread Alfred Shen
It has been fixed. The problem was caused by an incorrect password for
quantum in nova.conf for
quantum_admin_password=quantum_keystone_passwrod.  The password needs
to match quantum.conf's
quantum_admin_password=quantum_keystone_passwrod. Otherwise quantum
service will reject nova's request in client.py's _cs_request function.

[Bug 1195905] Re: Quantumclient is rejecting a valid token and throwing Unauthorized exception

2013-06-30 Thread Alfred Shen
It has been fixed. The problem was caused by an incorrect password for
quantum in nova.conf for
quantum_admin_password=quantum_keystone_passwrod.  The password needs
to match quantum.conf's
quantum_admin_password=quantum_keystone_passwrod. Otherwise quantum
service will reject nova's request in client.py's _cs_request function.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/930671

I don't think so. Unlike the bug 1018020, skype and other programs are
working fine, it's only cheese that's failing with this one.
Unfortunately so far only cheese has the features I want out of
available Ubuntu desktop programs.

I note that even preferences are unavailable (grayed out).

[Bug 814833] Re: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy

2013-04-27 Thread alFReD NSH
I just installed Ubuntu 13.04 and having the same expectations that is
described in #35, when hit super key and type, I miss at least 1 letter.
Mostly it's 2 letters. I have AMD 64bit E2-2000 APU with Radeon(tm) HD
7340 Graphics on levovo laptop. And this happens with no blur on the
background(I wonder if dash being so slow, why no blur is not the
default option...). The thing is that on the same laptop Windows 7
start menu search works as fast as expected.

[Bug 1173283] [NEW] App icon removed from launcher but not from dconf value after installation and unlock from launcher

2013-04-26 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 13.04, after installing an application through the Software Center or
Application Lense, the applications icon gets put into the launcher.
If I unlock the icon from the launcher before logging out, the icon disappears
from the launcher but its .desktop file stays in the favorites dconf value.
This causes the icon to reappear after a reboot.

If removing the icon from the launcher after a reboot, everything works
as expected.

How to reproduce:
1) Install an application through Software Center/Application Lense
2) Wait until the app is installed
3) Right-click the newly installed icon in the launcher and unlock it.
4) Check com.canonical.unity.launcher.favorites in dconf-editor and see if the
.desktop file is still in the list.

Screenshot attached. Notice the wifi-radar.desktop entry in the list,
even though the icon is gone from the launcher.

[Bug 1163041] [NEW] Inconsistent behaviour with minimized Trash windows

2013-04-01 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

Now with a fix for LP: #753938 being merged into raring, this presents a
new usability challenge to users.

The issue:
When you open a trash window from the launcher and minimize it, it gets
minimized into the Nautilus icon.
However, a user would then expect to get the window back by clicking the icon
where the window minimized into in the first place,
in this case, the Nautilus icon in the launcher.
Instead, it opens a new Nautilus window.
The issue here is that trash windows and every other Nautilus window are only
seperated logically from each other, but not graphically.

The fix:
When minimizing the trash window, instead of minimizing into the Nautilus icon,
it should minimize the window into the trash icon in the launcher.
I'm purely talking about the minimize animation and triangle next to the trash
icon here.

[Bug 1158161] Re: [regression] Unmaximized windows can't be closed, minimized, moved

2013-03-29 Thread Alfred Neumayer
I haven't tested this on any desktop environment other than Unity, so this
appears to be a problem with basically any other DE when Compiz is being used
as the compositor.
Has anyone tested this with an environment other that Unity or Gnome?

[Bug 1158161] [NEW] Unmaximized windows can't be closed, minimized, moved

2013-03-21 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Public bug reported:

Revision #3635 or #3636 must have introduced a regression that causes
the titlebar and borders to not respond to actions like minimizing,
maximizing, closing and resizing.

How to reproduce:
1) Open a Nautilus window.
2) Maximize the window either by pressing the maximize button or dragging the
window up to the top
3) Unmaximize the window either through the minimize button or dragging the
window
4) Resizing, Closing, Moving etc fails

However, moving the window by holding [Alt] works.
This bug occurs even after resetting the compiz configuration.
Tested on an Acer TimelineU M5-481TG, display resolution 1366x768.

[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2013-01-06 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Luigi, I believe the problem with those xorg-edgers fglrx drivers is that the
are for embedded APUs, at least from what I've read.
Try my package here: http://ubuntuone.com/7D7u8DgDzIAaC4qokYbUzs
I've used that one (had to apply the needed patch) when I was using quantal +
kernel 3.7.

[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2012-12-10 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad it's working well for you (and
that people are actually using my stuff). :)

@Nick, I won't have much time to test the new fglrx packages from your PPA, I'm
sorry.
But by just judging the diff, it should be reflecting exactly what I've done in
my Xsession script (where it's been working fine),
mostly because simply specifying another DRI path for the Intel drivers should
not affect fglrx in any way.
Maybe in a few days I'll have some time, but school is a little more important
right now,
much more than dealing with breaking a working (and needed) system.

[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2012-12-08 Thread Alfred Neumayer
Tried it on my machine, didn't work right out of the box.
I tried to launch Steam through Wine, but as soon as the login finished, it
crashed.
Running it with LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, it told me that there were no DRI libs.
So that means that having /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri in the LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH
is really needed, even on amd64 hosts.
Having the path added to 10fglrx makes Steam and CS 1.6 run flawlessly.

[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade

2012-12-07 Thread Alfred Neumayer
The fix that has been merged into fglrx is still incomplete in regards to 32
bit compatibility on a 64 bit host OS.
If you want to run old games like Counter Strike 1.6 on the Intel GPU, you
can't.
That's because of 2 reasons:
1) The path to #OTHER_ARCH# DRI libs is missing (/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri)
2) When doing:

amdconfig --px-igpu
cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu_GL.conf

it shows that ldconfig should count in /usr/i386-linux-gnu/mesa as a valuable
path for libraries, but this path does not exist.
Instead, this path should be used: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/
Symlinking the wrong path to the right one by hand is a nice hack, but it's a
hack.
I'm a little disturbed that nobody ever noticed this mistake. Maybe I'm the
only one who likes to play old games on the IGPU.

Awesome, thanks!
Just for reference, this is the workaround for the DRI path problem that I've
done
and been using for 2 months now, seems to be working fine.
This goes straight into /etc/X11/Xsession.d/

[Bug 1068661] Re: Unity does not load after installing fglrx/fglrx-updates in ATI/Radeon + Intel GPU hybrid systems

2012-10-31 Thread Alfred Neumayer
One interesting thing with the modified debs from Nick Andrik:
My HP ProBook 4730s has a similar muxless switching setup (Intel HD 3000 +
Radeon 6470m).
Booting up with the HD 3000 results in a X segfault, can't log in, can't even
switch to a tty in the process.
However, long-pressing the power button and turning on the laptop back again
gets through without a problem.
That is, until I reboot or shutdown again. Then I have to do the same thing
again (let X segfault, pulling power, turning laptop on).
Also, switching graphics and killing X with sudo pkill X works most of the
time, so you can boot with the DGPU enabled,
login, run the commands aticonfig --px-igpu; sudo pkill X and you can log in
with your IGPU up and running.
Before shutting down, set the DGPU again with aticonfig --px-dgpu and shut
down. Repeat steps for happyness until a fix is released.

[Bug 909488] Re: nautilus-dropbox forbids dropbox's non-free binaries to replace themselves by properly installing dropbox system-wide

2012-10-23 Thread Alfred Zhu
I got the messags saying that Dropbox was running from an unsupported
location after installed nautilus-dropbox from ubuntu repository. I
clicked Don't ask again and it seems that Dropbox was running as
intended. I just want to make sure Dropbox really works properly if I
ignored the message.

To be honest I prefer installing all software from ubuntu repository in
order to keep the consistency of package management system. So even if I
know Dropox officially provides deb installer and newer releases,I don't
want to choose it.

[Bug 989192] [NEW] Problem with starting and screen

2012-04-26 Thread Alfred Salahov

Re: [Bug 989192] Re: Problem with starting and screen

2012-04-26 Thread Alfred Salahov
I don't know why but after restarting a few times, the problem is not there
any more.
But I would suggest that it is my graphics card (Nvidia Optimus GT 520 M)
who is responsible for all the mess. After I somehow logged in I removed
all Nvidia drivers (they didn't work at all, since cannot work with Optimus
series of Nvidia. My Xorg.0.log showed me that Nvidia card didn't even work
with only intel's graphic card working). I installed bubmlebee and it seems
like everything is working fine now. I suspect that initial problem was
with the card.
Do I need to install kernel 3.4 now? Or should I just close the thread?
(it is my first time posting bug report.d)

Plus I found another interesting thing. On my desktop I have 5 images lined
up vertically. When i select them all and move them all together to the
very bottom and release, they all mix in one spot. So that at the end there
are 5 images in one area all messed up. Should I start a bug report for
that, or it is not a bug and I am missing something?

Thanks in advance.
Alfred

Does the issue go away if you boot back into the 11.10 kernel?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.4kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested
the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only
that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking
on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the
bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
 tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not
boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
 Confirmed.

[Bug 434662] Re: missing email parts

2012-04-24 Thread Alfred
The problem still occurs on Evolution 3.2.3 on 12.04. Contacts who are
Exchange users at the same time only show empty From and Subject
field, and a question mark in Date. Evolution is connected to an
Exchange 2003 server.

In Evolution 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04, if connected to an Exchange 2003 Server,
all contacts that are Exchange users show only empty From and Subject

[Bug 803943] Re: compiz consuming a lot of cpu

2012-04-23 Thread Alfred Zhu
I am also experiencing the same problem on ThinkPad T410 now. I am not
sure if it is related to the nvidia current driver shipped by Ubuntu
12.04. Anyway, this problem influences me severely as the high CPU usage
results in fan frequently working at high speed, making a loud noice and
reducing the longevity.

[Bug 982210] [NEW] Akregator shows 07.02.2106 07:28 in the date section

[Bug 977094] [NEW] Device notifier does not let you automount attached storage

2012-04-09 Thread Alfred
Public bug reported:

On KDE 4.8.2 in Kubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 (all updates installed), device
notifier does not let you activate automount for any attached devices.
If you go to Removable devices, you can select everything correctly,
but if you click Apply, the button stays the same (should be greyed
out to indicate it saved your settings). The next time you open the same
page, nothing you changed was saved.

In .xsession-errors, it shows the following message:

plasma-desktop(26049)/plasma StatusNotifierItemSource::refreshCallback:
DBusMenu disabled for this application

The same problem happens on an untouched Kubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 live cd in
live mode.

[Bug 974134] [NEW] Kfritz crashes with a segfault when trying to open settings page
