[Bug 2060120] Re: Unmet dependencies cause gparted to fail to install
That last comment 'don't forget gaps (new line) between pinning rules, w/o the gap pinning doesn't work correctly" was the cause of my issue. I now have gparted 1.5.0 installed. [Bug 1944525] [NEW] Info panel: white text on white background on text files preview while using a dark theme makes previews useless
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release:20.04 dolphin: Installed: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1 You know that dark themes display normal text as white on a dark background. Dolphin information panel display text file previews always with white background: when normal text is white, it shows previews as WHITE on WHITE,as you can see on the screen shot. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Apply a dark theme in System-Settings->Appearance->Colors (i.e. Breeze Dark) 2. Open the Information Panel for a text file of size > 0 OBSERVED RESULT A complete white page is shown instead of showing the content of the text file, you cannot read any text (see the screenshot). EXPECTED RESULT Text should be rendered with a different color than background OR a different background should be used other than white. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KUbuntu 20.04/Kde Plasma 5.18.5 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1) You can personalize text color by modifying "view text" property (System-settings->Appearance->Colors). It works as a workaround. However this change standard text color for all the KDE environment and not just the information panel view for text files! 2) Text in bash scripts or text files with other extensions (.inc) display correctly even when using dark themes! Only .txt files show this problem. UPSTREAM Current release 19.12.3 is quite old and newer releases already patched this bug. Could it be possible to merge upstream patch? [Bug 1883608] [NEW] [USB-Audio - UMC204HD 192k, playback] Playback problem

But does not work on Ubuntu 20.04, nor Fedora 32. Both 20.04 and f32 use version 13.99.1 of Pulseaudio, so I suspect the problem to be with this version. When I speak about A and B, I am referring to the device description given in the 2 lines above, line 1 being A and line 2 being B. What is happening on 20.04 and f32 is if I comment out A, then B will work. If I comment out B, A will work, but both A and B are defined, then only A will work. If B is defined first, and then A, something else weird happens where A will work, but is sent out through B, and B will work as expected. A discussion on Reddit, another user has version 13.0 on NixOS and his similar UMC404HD works fine. [Bug 1358147] Re: ProgrammingError: You have an error in your SQL syntax 'INSERT INTO meteringlabels'
Fwiw, I agree with enikanorov's assessment. It looks like the first value (tenant_id) is mistakenly a python dict instead of the expected simple string. Having stared at the relevant piece of havana-eol code (neutron.db.metering.metering_db.MeteringDbMixin.create_metering_label()) and traced the value of tenant_id backwards several callers, this value is whatever the user passed in the 'tenant_id' json key in the create_metering_label REST API request. This functions is restricted to admin only, so you're probably looking for either a neutron cli tool or heat bug, or perhaps some local admin (mis)using neutronclient or the API directly. Since it has only happened once, I think this is as far as we're going to go - if you see this recur, then we need more information about who/what made the relevant REST call. ** Changed in: neutron Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Changed in: neutron (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358147 Title: ProgrammingError: You have an error in your SQL syntax 'INSERT INTO meteringlabels' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1358147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1332385] Re: Applications Menu plugin not showing Wine Programs submenu
The same annoying bug appears on Linux Mint 17 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) with xfce4-panel 4.11.0-0ubuntu1 too. But in opposite Wine does appear neither on the Whisker nor the xfdesktop menu ($ xfdesktop --menu) but in the application finder (alt+F3). The underlying xfce4-applications.menu lists all Wine entries under "Other" but links them somehow with the category "Wine". But at this point my understanding of tree structure here and category structure there stops. [Bug 1194795] Re: Sound menu music seeker in cinnamon counts seconds too quickly
Running Cinnamon under Arch Linux, but I have an identical issue with Rhythmbox 3.0.3. The first track played after stopping is OK, then if you fast-forward the next track plays twice as fast as normal, then 3x speed, etc. One slightly hacky fix in /usr/share/cinnamon/applets/so...@cinnamon.org/applet.js is to add the lines after line 681: if (this._playerStatus == 'Playing') { +if (this._timeoutId != 0) { +Mainloop.source_remove(this._timeoutId); +} this._timeoutId = Mainloop.timeout_add_seconds(1, Lang.bind(this, this._runTimer)); which resolves the issue. Looking through the GLib docs, timeout_add_seconds() should be called repeatedly until it returns false but here it's being called every second during _runTimer() which causes multiple timers running concurrently after track change, resulting in times that are large multiples of the actual time. A better solution might be to start the timer on applet initialisation and reset to zero on track change or seek. Hope this can get rolled into the next update! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1194795 Title: Sound menu music seeker in cinnamon counts seconds too quickly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1194795/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bulk] [Bug 1181897] Re: [Compaq Presario CQ3260AN Desktop PC] Mouse freezes randomly
Christopher Hope you've enjoyed/are enjoying your festive season. I installed an upstream version on December 24 and was about to smile that the bug has been fixed (and update the bug as per your below). Unfortunately, this morning my mouse froze again. I'm hoping I've installed a correct copy. In response to 'uname -a' I receive: Linux barbangus-desktop 3.13.0-031300rc5-generic #201312221635 SMP Sun Dec 22 21:37:23 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux However, something to note. When installed this I encountered exactly the problem described in your link below regarding VirtualBox (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuilds#Problems_installing_an_upstream_kernel). At the time I chose to ignore the issue as I don't use VBox often. However, yesterday I needed it and reinstalled VBox. And this morning I encountered the problem. So it is possible that the mouse freeze is introduced with VBox (I'm not techo enough to know whether this is possible). I'm happy to remove VBox and run my test for a further few weeks if you wish. At this stage I haven't added any comments to the bug but can easily do so if you wish. Further, there's a comment in your text re "needs-crash-log". Not sure how I go about getting one of those as there is no crash per se. Happy to do as directed. Kind regards AnGus King Switched on Solar! On 08/12/13 22:22, Christopher M. Hi, I'm still encountering this problem and it's more than just the mouse freezing. There is lots of unusual beahviour affecting my usb devices. The mouse misbehaving is usually the first symptom. Most times I have to reboot. It has made my Compaq desktop almost useless on some days. I've resorted to adding a second mouse to "take over" but that just delays the inevitable reboot. [Bug 1026820] [NEW] Undesirable behaviour when multiple clients are connected to irssi_proxy
Public bug reported: This is a bug I have filed against upstream (with a working patch), but it doesn't look like irssi is being actively developed. Maybe the patch could be applied to the Ubuntu package directly? For what it's worth I've been using the patch for about 6 months now. The bug is on irssi's tracker at: http://bugs.irssi.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=832&project=5&order=id&sort=desc This is the text from the above bug report: "Irssi proxy is great; I have been using it for many years without problem. There has always been one thing that annoyed me though. Consider the following: I have a copy of Irssi running permanently on a server, another proxy IRC client connected to it that runs on my home machine and a second proxy IRC client running on my machine at work. For the most part, this works just fine. Where things go a bit awry is when I enter into a /query with another user. On the local client (let's say it's my work one) and Irssi itself, the conversation might look as follows: Hi, how's it going? Not bad, what are you up to? Just reporting this bug in Irssi that I've patched... Hopefully they'll commit it then? Yes that would be lovely! * me grins :D Unfortunately on other proxy clients (e.g. the home one), the conversation looks like this: window 1: Hi, how's it going? Just reporting this bug in Irssi that I've patched... Yes that would be lovely! * me grins :D window 2: Not bad, what are you up to? Hopefully they'll commit it then? In other words the conversation is split up into separate parts, my half and the reply half. This isn't really a big deal since you don't care about a conversation you've already had right? I guess so but it's annoying having to clean up the non-sensical windows on the other client, and if you want to continue the conversation on said client it's difficult to refer back to the previous conversation. The reason it happens is that you can't cause an arbitrary IRC client (Irssi included) to display the correct UI as if it had sent the PRIVMSG itself. The other clients receive PRIVMSGs of your lines from the proxy but display them as if the messages are coming TO you, not FROM you. This makes perfect sense in a channel context since in that case to and from are the same thing. My solution is when you're sending a PRIVMSG to an individual, the other proxy clients receive your lines FROM the person you sent them TO, prefixed with your nick. In case that doesn't make any sense (believe me, it didn't to me to begin with), here's how the conversation looks on the other proxy clients: Hi, how's it going? Not bad, what are you up to? Just reporting this bug in Irssi that I've patched... Hopefully they'll commit it then? Yes that would be lovely! * me grins :D Now, I fully accept this isn't exactly ideal, but I think it's the best solution available, and the behaviour is certainly better than what happens right now. I guess how you display your nick on the other clients might be a bit contentious? e.g. should it say " Hi, how's it going?" or " me> Hi, how's it going?" or just " > Hi, how's it going?" etc. You can't really second guess how arbitrary IRC clients display things so I just settled on the usual IRC defaults. For what it's worth, I've been using the attached patch for a few weeks now without any obvious problems. Thanks for the great client! :)" ** Affects: irssi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026820 Title: Undesirable behaviour when multiple clients are connected to irssi_proxy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irssi/+bug/1026820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 907168] [NEW] [ 3.0.0-14 regression ] Radeon 3200 GPU lockup on resume
Public bug reported: This problem did not occur in 3.0.0-13 under Oneiric, nor did it occur in a self-built 3.1.2 vanilla kernel I was testing a few weeks ago for an unrelated bug. Since upgrading to 3.0.0-14, every time I resume from suspend the screen remains blank. Switching to a virtual terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1) then back to the X display will successfully activate the display and the system then operates as expected until the next suspend at which point it recurs on resume. I'm using one monitor over DVI and have had no issues previously. The automatically collected DMESG is from 3.0.0-13, I've attached the new one separately, notably on resume an error is generated: [ 9351.951688] Restarting tasks ... done. Hi I have just encountered the same problem after installing the DKMS modules lirc-modules-source (v 0.8.7-0ubuntu4.1) I have a double whammy now, because the default kernel 2.6.38-8 and 2.6.38.11 does not have lirc_i2c driver installed which I need to get my remote to work, and the following info is quoted from the lirc project: [quote] lirc-0.8.7 has been tested with kernel versions up to 2.6.35. Older versions should also work. 2.4.x kernels are not supported anymore, but chances are good that it's still working. The last release officially supporting 2.4.x was 0.8.2. Please don't report problems with compilation on 2.4.x kernels. 2.2.x kernels are not supported anymore. >From 2.6.36 on all LIRC kernel drivers are already included in the kernel. >There has been a slight interface change in the LIRC ioctls that will affect >64-bit kernels. [Bug 540827] Re: ar9170usb wifi module crash + instabile connection
carl9170 works wonderfully without any disconnections for me under Maverick. Built from compat-wireless. The only issue is that it doesn't seem to want to resume properly once the computer has suspended, I get this error in DMESG (after the USB devices have resumed): [37522.811361] usb 1-2.1: firmware upload failed (-110). [37522.814865] carl9170 1-2.1:1.0: resume error -110 Driver 1.8.8.3, both firmwares 1.8.8.3 and 1.9.0. Usually comes back OK after removing/adding the module. [Bug 658955] Re: Slow suspend to RAM with clocksource TSC on Maverick AMD64
I've found a solution. The problem is that the clocksource TSC is unstable (not just the AHCI driver). Adding: clocksource=hpet to the kernel boot command results in the first suspend working properly. ** Summary changed: - Slow suspend of AHCI driver on Lucid/Maverick AMD64 + Slow suspend to RAM with clocksource TSC on Maverick AMD64 -- Slow suspend to RAM with clocksource TSC on Maverick AMD64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658955 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 636311] Re: Keyboard special keys interfere with mouse
For anyone wanting a semi-fix that doesn't entail restarting while waiting for evdev to be updated: 1) Even if the mouse is frozen, press "Alt-F2" and type "gnome-terminal" without quotes, then Enter. 2) Type "xinput list" without quotes, Enter, and note the "id" of the keyboard listed under "Virtual core pointer". 3) Type the following and press Enter, replacing "9" with your ID: xinput set-prop 9 "Device Enabled" 0 Your media keys will now be disabled and your keyboard and mouse work otherwise normally until you suspend or reboot. Works for my MS Wired Keyboard 600. -- Keyboard special keys interfere with mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/636311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 658955] [NEW] Slow suspend of AHCI driver on Lucid/Maverick AMD64
Public bug reported: Both Lucid and Maverick kernels suspend to RAM very slowly (5 minute delay) on the first suspend after a cold boot. It appears that the kernel is hanging for that time on suspending the AHCI device, per the DMESG logfile included. I first noticed the problem halfway through the updates for the 6 months I ran Lucid, and it's still present in Maverick release (Karmic seemed to be OK). Interestingly under Lucid at least the first suspend showed the delay, and subsequent suspends did not. I have a 1Tb Western Digital Green HDD installed and a SH-S223F DVDRW drive, both running under AHCI with no ATA devices configured in the BIOS. After suspend the system often comes up normally in several seconds; sometimes it doesn't resume, showing disk access errors and requiring a hard reset. [Bug 633830] Re: microsoft wireless desktop 5000 multimedia keys hang maverick
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 636311 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/636311 Some more information: evdev is apparently misdetecting the keyboard as a mouse: # xinput list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 id=9[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ A4Tech USB Optical Mouse id=10 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 id=8[slave keyboard (3)] I've attached Xorg.0.log (apologies for all the radeon cruft), which confirms this. Temporary workaround for anyone else affected: open a terminal and type: xinput list Note the "id" of the keyboard misdetected as a mouse (in my case, 9), then type: xinput set-prop 9 126 0 (where you replace the "9" with your ID). Media keys don't work, but they don't hang the GUI either. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/633830/+attachment/1683965/+files/Xorg.0.log -- microsoft wireless desktop 5000 multimedia keys hang maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 633830] Re: microsoft wireless desktop 5000 multimedia keys hang maverick
Confirming that this is a new regression in a fresh install of 10.10 final release from 10.04 (kept my /home partition). I have a combination of a Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600 (all media keys cause the hang) and an A4Tech USB mouse. Notably pressing the XF86Calculator key causes a mouse selection to begin on the desktop that can only be cancelled by pressing Esc. Mouse continues to move and some regular keys respond, left mouse button will not work, Ctrl-Alt-Bksp to restart X server fixes the issue. lsusb: Bus 004 Device 003: ID 09da:0006 A4 Tech Co., Ltd Optical Mouse WOP-35 / Trust 450L Optical Mouse Bus 003 Device 002: ID 045e:0750 Microsoft Corp. -- microsoft wireless desktop 5000 multimedia keys hang maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 131711] Re: [gutsy] no sound: Failed to construct test pipeline in sound recording
I haven't been able to find the time to run the upgrade or anything like it. I will, but not right now. I should just give up and use a live cd... I just tested out the Meerkat Beta on a CD on this machine. The behaviour from the live CD is still not what I want, but at least it has changed :-). I boot the live cd, then loaded the sound recorder app from the menus. The computer played the sounds of the startup correctly. When I tried to "record" from the sound recorder, it recorded silence. The interface remained responsive, which is new. After that, I am unable to play any sound. This is consistent with prior behaviour. If you want specific log entries, I can provide them. Just name the files. Thanks, Angus Carr. 2010/8/20 Przemysław Kulczycki > Angus: did your upgrade work? > Can anyone reproduce this bug on any currently supported Ubuntu release? > (9.04 or later) > > -- > [gutsy] no sound: Failed to construct test pipeline in sound recording > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131711 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > -- [gutsy] no sound: Failed to construct test pipeline in sound recording https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
