[Bug 1004333] [NEW] nm-applet is removed from panel just after start of applet

2012-05-25 Thread Andcor
Public bug reported:

Hi
After an update of my Xubuntu laptop to 12.4 from 11.10 I have not seen the
nm-applet. It is not in the panel when I start the PC, even though the
nm-applet process is running.
I have tried stopping the process and restarting from terminal to see the error
output, but it doesn't make any sense for me:

[Bug 879290] Re: pgm support not working

2011-11-23 Thread Andcor
I have found the problem, however have not looked into the source code of
geeqie and can therefore not construct a patch file.
It seems that geeqie can only read files with a very specific format:
1. Text: P5
2. newline (hex 0A)
3. comment # something
4. newline(hex 0A)
5. size of image (752 480)
6. newline(hex 0A)
7. largest gray scale value (255)
7. newline (hex 0A)
8. image data

According to http://netpbm.sourceforge.net/doc/pgm.html , however, the
pgm specification is more specific and need not have a comment and each
of the newlines need not be newlines but could in stead be any
whitespace character.

Re: [Bug 383345] Re: [i945GM] dual screen not working with virtual resolution enabled: just a blank screen with a mouse pointer

2009-11-04 Thread Andcor
Output from lspci:

VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML
Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

I did not mean to say that ubuntu automatically changes resolution to
external display. But when an external display is connected, and the
command

xrandr -q

is runned, the system will find the external screen and change to the
resolution last used with this external screen. At least that is what
my system does and I haven't done anything to make it do so. I'm not
so sure my bug is unrelated in the fact that the system doesn't
totally crash, but just shows me two blank screens which i cannot do
anything about other than a hard reboot.

[Bug 323874] [NEW] wacom tablet stops working using new kernel

2009-02-01 Thread Andcor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic

I've just reinstalled my tablet device at exact the same day as a new
kernel became available (i think). Then, after installing the ubuntu
base system, I made a apt-get update and a apt-get dist-upgrade. Here I
got the kernel version 2.6.27.11 where the base system came with
2.6.27.7, and in the new kernel my wacom device doesn't work and just
causes xorg to crash and go into failsafe mode.

I can't find any wacom related lines in /var/log/syslog but I found a
single line in my Xorg.0.log:

(**) Option "FlowControl" "Xoff"
usbDetect: can not ioctl version
(==) Wacom using pressure threshold of 15 for button 1

I've attached both my xorg.conf and my Xorg.0.log

tried to make an apt-get source xournal in order to get the ubuntu
source code, but I didn't get the patches and the problem is still
present if just compiling the source code.

I agree. You cannot come here and bitch over the fact that this patch
hasn't reached the ubuntu repos'es. In stead you should be glad that the
patch is posted here for the ubuntu developers to find in stead of in

2008-11-02 Thread Andcor
I do not know why you can't understand it, but it seems that some of the
steps has been completed as they should. The thing you should do now:

   1. Open a new terminal
   2. cd ~/Desktop/PACKAGE
   3. sudo apt-get build-dep libgnomecanvas2-0
   4. cd libgnomecanvas_2.20.1.1
   5. patch -p1 < ../libgnomecanvas_2.20.1.1-1ubuntu3.debdiff
   6. debuild -uc -us
   7. sudo dpkg -i ../libgnomecanvas*.deb

It isn't that hard

you should replace any instances of PACKAGE with libgnomecanvas.
Furthermore, when you come to the point where you shall perform the apt-get
source command you shall do it like this

apt-get source libgnomecanvas libgnomecanvas2-0

And you should do the apt-get build-dep like this

apt-get build-dep libgnomecanvas2-0

[Bug 132065] Re: screen stops refreshing after rotate when running compiz fusion

2008-06-26 Thread Andcor
Well, the patch would work even if you run mandriva, but you'll have to
find the sourcecode yourself and compile it all with this patch. I don't
know exactly how mandriva works, but in ubuntu it isn't allways fun not
to use the package system.

I also think that this patch should not find way to the package system,
as it disables compiz, and this isn't the right way out of the problem
(no offence Tom, I think it is very great that you have made this patch,
and I am myself using it).

Regards

Re: [Bug 57502] Re: JMicron PATA/SATA Controller does not work

2008-05-03 Thread Andcor
I should maybe say that the irqpoll did not work for me with the 8.04
live cd. In stead i had to disconnect the hard discs that was connected
to the ICH8 controller and install on the hard disc connected to the
jmicron controller. Then, when the system was installed, I could connect
the other hard discs again and use the irqpoll option. I don't know if
it is the bootloader on the live cd, or if the live cd uses another
kernel than the installed system (it could be that as my dvb tuner did
not show up on the live cd).

Not like that it wont. I have had luck with irqpoll and all-generic-ide

My bootline looks like this when I'm trying to install (i.e. wants to
get all the information on what goes wrong that I can):
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic root=/dev/sda1 ro irqpoll
all-generic-ide

[Bug 50102] Re: resolution not resettet on logout

2007-01-17 Thread Andcor
Hi
I just needed answer for som questions to be able to make sure there is enough
info to solve the bug.
Does you run Dapper or Edgy, and is the bug still present in edgy ?
Which version of xrandr is installed on your system?
Which type of changes do you make on the resolution when the problem appears?

Regards
Andreas

Re: [Bug 57502] help me plzzzzzzzzzz

2006-11-17 Thread Andcor
Have you tried to do the things talked about in this thread?
many people makes it work by setting the controller to raid in the bios.

If you'd like us to help you, you will have to provide us with some more
information about what the computer does when you are trying.
By the way, are you sure that it is an jmicron controller causing all the
problems, cause this bug has been solved for some time now

You don't have to set up any raid array, you just have to set up the mode in
which the OS can connect to the drives.

But if you like windows that much I am affraid that you, if you install
linux, constantly will compare it to windows, and therefore will not
experience all the advances in linux.

To daniel

Which of the ich8 controllers are you using.
I haven't changed anything else in bios other than what you say you have
done.

To Jaffa
I have had the problem that either the jmicron or the ich8 controllers were
fucking up my system in almost all live-cd's i tried. But then once i tried
to make the controllers run in raid mode, and boot from one of the newest
live's, and that worked fine for me.
I don't know if it is the same problem that you have because my computer
didn't complain about hda at all, it just stalled after the last
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 3 of device :03:00.0

Don't know if that was of any help at all ?

Well, it isn't easy to forget about ubuntu. It is, in my oppinion by far the
best linux-dist on the market right now. It would be an terrible setback for
me if this bug gets forgotten since I have build a media center which
hardware isn't well supported in windows media center ed.

I have written to Ben Collins who owns this bug, and the only thing he
writes back are that the cd's should work, and that they sometimes is very
slow at startup.

I have bought some cdrw's to burn the dailys from today to see if it has
gotten better. Don't know if any others would like to write to him, so that
he can realize that the bug isn't quite fixet yet.

Ok, but this helpes not at all if some of us stille aren't able to boot
from any of the daily's yet.
The message from Ben Collins that you are citening are from the 1. of
October which is 13 days ago. Therefore I see a little problem still
beeing here. However I don't know if it is the jmicron controller that
is stille causing problems, but nobody can tell me if it is, and
therefore nobody can tell me where to file a bug.

It is this one:

It does not mean that the jmicron is all gone i think, a have just
downloaded the alternate daily from today and tried with that, but I got
the same error as before:

Cannot allocate resource region {1} of device :03:00.0
Cannot allocate resource region {2} of device :03:00.0
Cannot allocate resource region {3} of device :03:00.0
Cannot allocate resource region {4} of device :03:00.0

It would be really great if someone told me if this errors could be
related to the jmicron controller, or I have to find a new bug to watch
for news.

[Bug 57502] Re: JMicron PATA/SATA Controller does not work

2006-09-24 Thread Andcor
Wasn't it the kernel -9 that contained the patch ?
I guess we just have to wait a little longer.
Just wanted to say that I am surprised that the error correction goes this
fast, as I found out my computer wasn't able to boot on the dapper or the edgy
cd-roms, I made myself ready to wait for months.
Thank you everybody!!
