[Bug 441034] Re: [karmic] Warning during boot: render error detected
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 404064 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/404064 I updated to the latest kernel -- rev 13 I believe -- and the latest xorg intel drivers (2.9.) and I dont see any messages any more. [Bug 441034] Re: [karmic] Warning during boot: render error detected
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 404064 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/404064 I get the same error message during boot-up, however I don't get any page table errors, simply the rendering error: render error detected, EIR: 0x0010 [drm:i915_handle_error] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x0010, masking render error detected, EIR: 0x0010 Then I see a few of the standard boot messages such as "loading AppArmor profiles" and I am eventually shown the new boot splash-screen. -- [karmic] Warning during boot: render error detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441034 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Might this be a clone of (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433541)? Worth seeing if the new kernel and Intel Xorg drivers do the trick. [Bug 433541] Re: [i865] karmic: X11 Freezes when UXA is enabled
I tried to install the Beta and it repeatedly froze on me at random points during the installation. I remember that intel drivers were in issue in previous versions of ubuntu and found this bug report. I have the same graphics chipset. I will likely install using the text-based installer and change my packages to match what was discussed here. If I have to go through all this trouble, I don't think new linux people will be able to install Ubuntu. This definitely needs to be fixed before Karmic release. -- [i865] karmic: X11 Freezes when UXA is enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433541 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 18250] Re: file-rollers progress bar does not indicate progress
This bug was originally filed for RAR format archives. There is a fix for this which is trivial it seems, so why can it not be fixed? Since you're basing this fix on the output of command line tools then at least fix what is available (and has been available for some time) as each different format will require it's own work anyways. [Bug 18250] Re: file-rollers progress bar does not indicate progress
Yes, this is a perfect candidate for One Hundred Papercuts! Having moved from Windows to Linux one irritating thing was the lack of a working progress bar in file-roller when I extract rars (and other multipart archives). I know this functionality can work - I used to see the bars work properly in WinZip and WinRAR all the time. Please fix this for 100-papercuts. It is a small detail that has grown to be a torn in my side. [Bug 364885] Re: no sound after resuming from suspend
I have this problem as well - as do many people on the ubuntuforums. One solution is as follows: Run "sudo alsa force-reload" at the cli after resume. This is just a temporary solution, there should be a more permanent fix to this problem... [Bug 339029] Re: Volume control unresponsive over full range
Well, I'm not sure how to go about "reproducing" this problem. It is a constantly problem for me. If you could give me suggestions I'd be more than willing to try them. As for alsamixer, it's behavior is the exact same. However, using alsamixer I was able to determine that the compression isn't into a 25% range, but rather a 50% range. "Volume 0" = 50%, "volume 100" = 100%. 50% and below are all 0. [Bug 339029] [NEW] Volume control unresponsive over full range
Public bug reported: I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my machine with an ASUS X-Fi DX sound card. When I try to change the volume with the slider the range is compressed into the top 25% of the bar. That is to say, when the slider is from 0%-75% the volume is at 0. At 100% the volume is at 100, and between 75%-100% the volume ranges from 0-100. Needless to say this is very frustrating as this problem causes me to lose granularity in my volume control. I basically only have the ability to set it to volumes 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 (due to the slider locking in place at certain intervals). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Volume control unresponsive over full range https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 338040] [NEW] Mouse nav buttons do not work in Nautilus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus The version of Nautilus in Intrepid does not support mappings of the mouse nav buttons (forward and backward) to the forward and backward navigation feature (alt+left, alt+right). This should be fixed. This is a very common feature found in many programs (firefox, for example) and is highly requested. Almost 700 votes between duplicates (http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/6186/). If Ubuntu really does aim to be the distribution to bridge the gap between windows and linux with an easy transition this is a necessary feature. Nautilus has already cloned Window's "Compact View" feature to help easy the transition. Why not add this commonsense feature? I imagine the patch would be very simple. Catch 2 new keypress signals, map them to behavior whose function already exists. [Bug 18250] Re: file-rollers progress bar does not indicate progress
Yes, in Ubuntu 8.10 - File Roller 2.24.1, for multi-part RAR archives the progress bar stays at 50% for the duration of the extraction. The status text indicator displays what file part it is currently processing, but that is the only thing that actually works. I do not know how the RAR file-format works, but I suspect that there is a simply solution for this. Either the lead RAR file's header contains information about the size of the archive, or you can scan the directory for all .rar files of the same name as the given archive - this will give you the maximum number of files. Use this in combination with the knowledge of which file you're on and then you can get a more accurate progress bar. AKA 1/10 -> 10%, 2/10 -> 20%, etc. -- file-rollers progress bar does not indicate progress https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18250 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
