[Bug 2063333] Re: gnome-remote-desktop.service: Failed to determine user credentials: No such process
Yes, same here. [Bug 1862764] Re: add-apt-repository should use signed-by
The 'signed-by' field is not supported in the python-apt classes that are used by add-apt-repository and the gui software-properties. - When adding a new source there's no argument to provide 'signed-by' or 'trusted' options, so those cannot be added via add-apt-repository or the gui software-properties until that is corrected, and this omission appears to exist upstream: https://git.launchpad.net/python-apt/tree/aptsources/sourceslist.py#n309 - Adding 'signed-by' to the output of the sources so it gets written to the sources list would be needed: https://git.launchpad.net/python-apt/tree/aptsources/sourceslist.py#n232 - And then it'll get ignored when subsequently reading the sources list, as any option fields present other than 'arch' and 'trusted' result in the line being flagged as invalid, this results in the source not being listed in the software-properties sources list - and that's actually how I ended up here trying to work out if that failure to display had been reported as a bug yet. So that too needs to be updated: https://git.launchpad.net/python-apt/tree/aptsources/sourceslist.py#n196 These three changes all appear to be upstream, and navigating the debian site was not as straight forward as here, so I'm not really clear on where to submit a patch to make it happen, nor how easy it would be to pull back here, so I figured I could throw the details here for someone that's more familiar with that! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1862764 Title: add-apt-repository should use signed-by To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1862764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1087928] Re: Could not install grub-efi-amd64/Ubuntu 12.10 upgrade
Todd, Are you running a fake-raid also? I believe the problem is to do with raid configuration and how grub sees the volumes. I managed to work around this problem by installing Ubuntu alongside Windows, then running the Boot Repair from the Ubuntu live cd. It corrected the problem, but it will reoccur if grub is updated in the future. [Bug 1039830] [NEW] Acer eMachines E725 High Pitched Whine with Ubuntu 12.04
Public bug reported: Acer eMachines E725 High Pitched Whine with Ubuntu 12.04 related to kernel After updating to Ubuntu 12.04 my laptop emits a high pitched whining sound from where I assume is the GPU. I encountered the common "black screen on boot" bug and can use workarounds to deal with that however, the whining noise persists. I followed the suggestion of others and changed to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor i915.invert_brightness=1" in my /etc/grub file. Mysteriously, the whining noise was gone and the "black screen on boot" issue was fixed, but this left me unable to acheive maximum screen resolution. But that's beside the point (b/c it causes the VESA driver to load up instead of Intel for some reason). All of this had lead me to believe that there is a bug with the Intel graphics driver for my model of laptop which uses the Mobile Intel Series 4 chipset. My laptop operates perfectly on Ubuntu 10.04, no whining noise, no "black screen on boot" issue. lspci results: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 09) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.3 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev 93) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation ICH9M LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801IBM/IEM (ICH9M/ICH9M-E) 4 port SATA Controller [AHCI mode] (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01) 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. [Bug 791089] Re: crash after rebooting from Ubuntu 11.04
Hi - this happens to me too. I've managed to make this work by installing the versions of libsane and libsane-extras from Debian Squeeze. http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/sane-backends/libsane_1.0.21-9_i386.deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/s/sane-backends-extras/libsane-extras_1.0.21.2_i386.deb Install the packages from Nautilus or the Ubuntu software centre. Or use the CLI as follows: sudo dpkg -i libsane-extras_1.0.21.2_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i libsane_1.0.21-9_i386.deb Finally, you'll need to pin the version of libsane to the newly- installed version: gksudo gedit /etc/apt/preferences.d/libsane Now paste the below contents into the file, save and exit. Package: libsane Pin: version 1.0.21-9 Pin-Priority: 900 Confirm it is working using the apt-cache policy command: $ apt-cache policy libsane libsane: Installed: 1.0.21-9 Candidate: 1.0.21-9 Package pin: 1.0.21-9 Version table: 1.0.22-2ubuntu1 900 500 http://nz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages *** 1.0.21-9 900 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status The asterisks indicate the installed version from Debian Squeeze has priority over newer versions, so update manager won't upgrade you back to the broken version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774475 Title: Lexmark multifunction printer does not work as scanner after upgrade to Natty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xsane/+bug/774475/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 763422] Re: [i965] idle black screen plus other issues Ubuntu 11.04
I also have the screen blanking issue which requires a reboot to resolve (Same behaviour, can only see the mouse pointer). This is a complete show stopper for me as I now have to reboot far more frequently than in windows. I am not sure how widespread this is, but I can confirm it presents on all three of my 11.04 installations (One running the nVidia binary display drivers, and the other two on different Intel chipsets). The priority on this should be escalted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763422 Title: [i965] idle black screen plus other issues Ubuntu 11.04 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 687567] Re: Global menu causes white "flashes" when scrubbing/moving with mouse fast over menus
Yes. I think Daniel is correct in this regard. As mentioned in #21 and #24 disabling the fade animation only reduces the time that the artifact is displayed, it is definitely still there. I can also confirm that the problem behavior exists on Intel graphics chips as well as nVidia. There's no impact to functionality though, so I can see why it was a lower priority during the release push. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687567 Title: Global menu causes white "flashes" when scrubbing/moving with mouse fast over menus -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 687567] Re: Global menu causes white "flashes" when scrubbing/moving with mouse fast over menus
Problem behavior still exists. Tested with both nVidia (nonfree-bin driver) and intel systems running fully up to date Natty beta2 installs. Disabling the fade animation on the menus mitigates the problem, but it seems to only be removing the extra 80ms that the menu would normally be fading out. The white boxes are definitely still present when switching between menus rapidly with the fade animation disabled.
