[Bug 1737750] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 304.137-0ubuntu2 ADT test failure with linux 4.15.0-1.2 [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’]
Downgrading the kernel is sufficient too, aka if you boot with kernel version 4.13.0 through GRUB, and then remove everything related to 4.15.0, the driver will work fine. There was a 340 issue with the 4.13 kernel update too back in January, and it was fixed in a couple of days (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741671), I'm hopeful here too, as this affects a LTS release now... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737750 Title: nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 304.137-0ubuntu2 ADT test failure with linux 4.15.0-1.2 [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+bug/1737750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1779829] Re: nvidia-340 340.104-0ubuntu0.16.04.1: nvidia-340 kernel module failed to build
When I reboot, the issue is the same as on the previous occasion - Only a black screen shows up with a blinking cursor, no login screen. Solution posted in the linked issue works for this issue too - Choose Advanced Options in GRUB and boot with an older kernel version (4.13.0-45 for me). I proceeded to remove the new kernel version until the issue is fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779829 Title: nvidia-340 340.104-0ubuntu0.16.04.1: nvidia-340 kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340/+bug/1779829/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1779829] Re: nvidia-340 340.104-0ubuntu0.16.04.1: nvidia-340 kernel module failed to build
Same error, happened to me while updating software, which included the kernel update 4.15.0-24. I had (and have till I reboot) version 4.13.0-45. I had a similar issue a while ago, also related to updating the kernel, which rendered the Nvidia driver unusable for a few days until the driver was updated for the new kernel version (bug link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-340/+bug/1741671).
