[Bug 1745799] Re: Xwayland crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() from AbortServer() from FatalError() from xwl_log_handler() from wl_log() ["wl_registry@2: error 0: invalid global wl_output (20)\n"]

2022-02-11 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
I can reproduce the crash on 3 different notebooks:
 1. Lenovo ThinkPad P14s with AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U with Radeon Graphics
 2. Lenovo ThinkPad T480 with Intel i7-8550U with integrated Graphics
 3. Lenovo ThinkPad x220 with Intel i3-2310M with integrated Graphics

It doesn't matter, if external monitor (or two) is connected, or not, if
scaling is enabled (125% or 200%), or not - crash is reproducible every
time.

I can reproduce the crash reliably in less than 1 minute by simply
repeatedly drawing rectangles on the empty black background (using JOSM

[Bug 1389904] Re: With the recent update to xserver-xorg-video-intel, system boots to a black screen

2014-12-09 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
We experience the X crash with every PC with Intel 810/815 chipset and
anything newer than xserver-xorg-video-intel=2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.

I dedicated one of the computers for finding the problem. I tried to report a
bug with:
sudo apport-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_Xorg.0.crash

However, when I press S: Send report (382.7 KB), apport just exits
without any message.

What can I do to help resolve this issue?

[Bug 1049332] Re: deluge crashed with SIGSEGV when removing torrents

2012-09-18 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Are you sure it's a problem in libtorrent-rasterbar 0.16?
I've rebuilt libtorrent-rasterbar 0.15.10-1ubuntu1 from precise in quantal, but
still get crashes when removing a torrent.
Maybe it's a problem with libboost (or libboost + libtorrent), since libboost
version changed in quantal?

[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded

2012-07-10 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
** Description changed:

After update from oneiric to precise Samsung SCX-4200 usb printer prints
one page and stops responding to CUPS. Turning the printer off and on
  crashes usb backend.

  [IMPACT]

Many users of USB-connected Samsung printers are not able to print any
more after the upgrade from Lucid LTS or Oneiric to Precise LTS. In
Precise the problem was solved by an ugly workaround of blacklisting the
usblp kernel module in the first CUPS SRU. This solution breaks printing
for other users, those who use proprietary printer drivers with CUPS
backends based on the old /dev/usb/lp* device files and also users who
send jobs by directly sending data to the /dev/usb/lp* device files.
  This worked under Lucid LTS.

The libusb-based USB backend of CUPS was far from completely
implemented. It lacked the ability to communicate uni-directionally with
devices which are not able to communicate bi-directionally, refrain from
re-attaching the usblp kernel module after printing for some devices,
reset the printer after printing the job, ... In the proposed package
these adaptations for devices with quirks are done in the USB backend.
Especially this backend now works with said Samsung printers, without
blacklisting the usblp module. So this second SRU is an improved
  solution.

  [TESTCASE]

Unfortunately, for reproducing this bug one needs the actual hardware.

Connect a Samsung printer to the USB port of the computer.

With stock Precise (without updates) you will not be able to print.
After applying the already available updates (including the first SRU
for CUPS) you will be able to print, but only because the usblp kernel
module is blacklisted. Remove the blacklisting via

  sudo mv /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups-usblp.conf ~
  sudo modprobe usblp

and you will not be able to print any more.

After installing the proposed package the kernel module is not
blacklisted any more and you will still be able to print.

If you are on a Precise with all updates and you have a print queue with
an URI containing /dev/usb/lp* you will not be able to print. This
worked with stock Precise and works again with the proposed package.

You can easily test this with any Ubuntu-supported USB printer:

  lpadmin -p test -E -v parallel:/dev/usb/lp0 -m PPD file which works with
this printer
- lpadmin -p teat -o PageSize=A4
+ lpadmin -p test -o PageSize=A4
  lp- d test ~/.bashrc

The printing on this queue works on stock Precise, does not work on
Precise with all updates (usblp is blacklisted) and works again with the
  proposed package.

  [Regression Potential]

The patch looks perhaps more dramatic than it is. This is because
several code sections are put into if blocks, indenting all the
(unchanged) code lines. This especially happens because now we suppress
using the back channel for selected printers (and also printers which
  claim to be uni-directional only).

The code was developed in several steps and uploaded step-by-step to my
PPA. There the reporters of the bugs covered by this SRU and some
additional bugs (bug 902535, bug 995111) tested it intensively. They did
not hit any regressions compared to stock Precise or the first CUPS SRU.

The code is also applied to the CUPS package in Quantal and this also
did not cause any regression bug report yet.

I have tested the code on four HP printers (HP LaserJet 3390, HP Color
LaserJet CM3530 MFP, HP PhotoSmart C8100, HP PhotoSmart C5200, all on
direct USB) and one Epson printer (Epson Stylus Photo 880, both direct
USB and parallel with Prolific USB - Parallel adaptor) and all work
  fine, no regressions.

[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded

2012-07-02 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Updated CUPS to 1.5.3-0ubuntu2~ppa14.

Ran lpadmin -p queue -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

Successfully printed 10 jobs.

Skipped Plug'n'Print tests:
ls -l /lib/udev/udev-configure-printer
ls: cannot access /lib/udev/udev-configure-printer: No such file or directory

Ran lpadmin -p queue -R usb-no-reattach

Successfully printed another 10 jobs.

Interleaving sudo rmmod usblp; sudo modprobe usblp after each
successful print job (with -R usb-no-reattach) eventually (after 3
successful jobs) led to a hanged job with Got USB transaction timeout
during read/write.

[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded

2012-06-28 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Updated CUPS to 1.5.3-0ubuntu2~ppa12.

With usblp not blacklisted and without forcing uni-directional, print
jobs still hang with USB transaction timeout during read/write.

Forcing uni-directional mode doesn't make any difference - jobs still

[Bug 997040] Re: usb printer backend hangs when usblp kernel module is loaded

2012-06-28 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
The only difference between Job 32973 and 32974 is that job 32973 is the
first job printed after turning the printer off and on.

USB transaction timeout during read/write problem only appears on the
second or later job.

Test 1, when usblp is blacklisted - everything works.

Test 2, the printer prints several pages successfully, then stops
responding. CUPS shows Rendering completed. After power cycling the
printer and restarting the job, printer prints several more pages before
stopping.

[Bug 911965] Re: libfreetype6-dev:386 cannot be installed without removing gcc

2012-01-08 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Steve, are you sure we can't build wine (from git) in Pangolin without a
i386 chroot? I could build wine (32/64-bit) fine with ia32-libs
20090808ubuntu26 (by following these instructions
http://wiki.winehq.org/Wine64#head-
50d8acdb0146929a14b9601757cbc03452f2056d)

Today I upgraded ia32-libs and ia32-libs-multiarch:i386 to 20090808ubuntu32 and
tried to reconfigure and recompile wine.
64-bit part was fine. 32-bit part at first complained that libx11-dev:i386 is
needed, which installed fine, then libfreetype6-dev:386 was needed.

However,
LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 sudo apt-get install libfreetype6-dev:i386
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:

libxvmc-dev
  libxres-dev libbz2-dev libbonobo2-dev
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
The following extra packages will be installed:
  zlib1g-dev:i386
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libavahi-ui-dev libbonoboui2-dev libcairo2-dev libfontconfig1-dev

libsdl-ttf2.0-dev libunique-dev libvte-dev libwebkitgtk-dev libxfont-dev

  xorg-dev
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libfreetype6-dev:i386 zlib1g-dev:i386
0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 22 to remove and 4 not upgraded.
Need to get 940 kB of archives.
After this operation, 51,6 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

If I continue, libfreetype6-dev is removed and then 64-bit wine
configuration complains about missing FreeType development files.

[Bug 887094] Re: usb printer backend crashes

2011-11-10 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Upgraded CUPS from your PPA on 3 (2 experience this bug) different computers.
Printing works (no bug #872483) with Samsung ML-2015, Samsung ML-2525.

Syslog is no longer spammed with:
Nov 10 11:06:28 siavad3 kernel: [580256.776089] usb 1-1: reset full speed USB
device number 16 using uhci_hcd

Nov 10 11:09:02 siavad3 kernel: [580410.280094] usb 1-1: reset full speed USB

However, crash still happens, one computer with ML-2015 just had:

2011-11-10 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Yes, new fix fixes bug 872483, but not the crash.

I also think that crash is independent of both fixes.

It is probably the same crash as in bug 793244, that was reported for
cups 1.4.3-1ubuntu1.3. Just, for some reason, we didn't experience it
neither in Maverick, nor Natty.

[Bug 887094] Re: usb printer backend crashes

2011-11-10 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
Unfortunately, usb backend doesn't crash reliably. If I retry the job
that crashed usb backend the first time, it prints successfully the
second time.

It seems that it is not the print data that crashes usb backend, but
some other usb or printer related event.

I can upload a .crash file from /var/crash that appears there after the
crash if it is useful?

[Bug 872483] Re: laser printer only prints first job correct

2011-11-08 Thread Aurimas Fišeras
It looks like the fix for this bug causes (or makes them more frequent,
Bug #793244) random crashes of CUPS usb backend for us on some printers
(Samsung ML-2015, Bug #887094).

Would it be possible to make a test cups package with a possible
alternative fix from upstream (http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3965)
instead of the current usb-backend-reset-printer-before-printing.patch
fix?

I tried to extract some useful information about the crash from
/var/crash/_usr_lib_cups_backend_usb.0.crash, but all apport tools fail
to do anything useful (can't detect a package, etc.).

Probably because cups package contains /usr/lib/cups/backend-available/usb
But crashing executable is /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb. A hard link to
/usr/lib/cups/backend-available/usb.

[Bug 793244] Re: After suspend/hibernate usb printer backend repeatedly crashes

Started having very similar crashes after updating to Oneiric on 2
computers with Samsung ML-2015 printers.

in libc-2.13.so[4b2000+176000]

However, I don't know how to reliably reproduce it. For example, usb
backend crashes, but if I immediately release a held CUPS print job for
printing it gets printed.

One day we printed 100+ jobs without crashing once, the next day it
crashed 3 times in 3 hours.

I installed and enabled apport, installed cups-dbg, libc6-dbg. Ran
ulimit -c unlimited.

What else should I do to get the most information of the next crash when
it happens?
