[Bug 1927802] [NEW] ALSA: cannot set period size to 1024 frames for capture with sofhdadsp [sof-hda-dsp] Instead buffer sizes of 1008, 240, 120 work
Public bug reported: This was first reported in Bug #1872244 by John Smith on 2020-04-11 That bug report was converted into a question: question #692397: I reported this on that thread however have heard no response. However, I consider it to be a bug as it is not possible to configure the standard power of 2 buffer sizes. Instead buffer sizes of 1008, 240, 120 work. The man page states that they should be powers of 2, and most jack audio software fails to work properly. [Bug 1906655] Re: Ethernet interface broken (Flags mismatch irq) after upgrading to kernel 5.8.0-31
I did an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade this morning and it bricked my server --network was gone. I ended up having to call out of work and spend the day on linux forums trying to figure out how a simple update, something we've all done 1000s of times bricked my machine. Here are the details - https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux- server-73/updated-system-all-networking-lost-following- reboot-4175690186/#post6218320 My solution was to edit the grub config to boot the last working kernel, which is Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-65-generic. Re: [Bug 1776416] Re: Sound stopped working after update 11/06/18 7pm GMT
Well, if the drivers were being updated automatically with a system update they weren't for me. The engineer didn't explain exactly what he did, sorry. The repair wasn't expensive, so maybe you should get an engineer to look at? [Bug 1785796] [NEW] Recent update to kallet pam prevents groups from being set correctly via lightdm
Public bug reported: It appears a recent update to Pam KWallet has resulted in groups not being set correctly when logging into my Ubuntu 16.04 system. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS Release:16.04 $ apt-cache policy libpam-kwallet5 libpam-kwallet5: Installed: 4:5.5.5-0ubuntu1.3 Candidate: 4:5.5.5-0ubuntu1.3 Version table: *** 4:5.5.5-0ubuntu1.3 500 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 4:5.5.5-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages Expected Results: Upon login to gnome3 shell within a terminal started I should be able to see all of my domain groups (via Winbind/Samba) and local groups when I run 'groups' Actual Results: I only see my default group returned Other info: On my broken system, performing 'cat /proc/$$/status' to inspect groups, and then replacing the '$$' with the value from ppid, I trace upwards 'bash' -> 'gnome-terminal-' -> 'upstart' -> 'lightdm' -> 'lightdm' I discover that the parent 'lightdm' contains all of groups, but the child 'lightdm' is empty. On a working system, the 'lightdm' parent process has it's groups empty, while the child 'lightdm' process contains all of the expected groups as do all of the subsequent child processes. Testing login via console (Alt + F1) results in groups being set correctly, as does login over SSH, so it appears to be an issue between lightdm and kwallet. Looking around the internet I found https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/454593/groups-not-registering-in-x and following the suggestion I disabled pam_kwallet4.so and pam_kwallet5.so in /etc/pam.d/lightdm and rebooted and groups were now correctly passed down to the child process as expected. ** Affects: pam-kwallet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1785796 Title: Recent update to kallet pam prevents groups from being set correctly via lightdm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pam-kwallet/+bug/1785796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has happened, the first had to be fixed by an engineer. Seriously thinking of using Windows, or seeing an engineer again because of your update. The thing I miss about Windows is the ability to 'Go Back' to a previous session. Could virt-aa-helper simply ask libvirt for what the pool path would be in the case of the XML definition specifying a volume type? [Bug 1611532] Re: bluetooth USB dongle CSR8510 causes system freeze
I confirm the issue with the Broadcom 20702A0 bluetooth 4 dongle, exactly as described. Also tested with earlier kernels on Debian and Ubuntu systems. No possibility of reliable usage over bluetooth. I would greatly appreciate this bug being given attention. We have a University lab full of Linux machines waiting to start a sensors experiment involving reading data over bluetooth from a BBC micro:bit. While this bug persists, we can't run that experiment on Linux, which is about a bad a message as you can send to an EE student. Politics and trolls aside, "You have to use MS Windows to deal with embedded systems" is the opposite of the truth; I'm sure that's not controversial. If I can run any further tests, please advise. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611532 Title: bluetooth USB dongle CSR8510 causes system freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1611532/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1326536] Re: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM
Did some more testing (found how to adjust libvirts dnsmasq.conf and restart it to pick up conf changes): To test, get the dnsmasq pid using the vagrant-libvirt.conf config and check the environment set for the process with: sudo cat /proc/2586/environ VIR_BRIDGE_NAME=virbr0 After killing the relevant dnsmasq you can manually restart using sudo VIR_BRIDGE_NAME=virbr0 /usr/sbin/dnsmasq --conf-file=/var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/vagrant-libvirt.conf --leasefile-ro --dhcp-script=/usr/lib/libvirt/libvirt_leaseshelper Just make sure to check the environment for the dnsmasq process before Adding entries with the following format to the libvirt dnsmasq.conf: host-record=,, interface-name=,br0 And have entries with the following format in /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 and nslookup and dig returns the configured for both short and fqdn instead of 127.0.1.1 as it used to. It appears that host-record overrides entries read from hosts-files because record options are considered to be read before host-files, and only the first entry results in the PTR creation, so a name appearing in the host-record inhibits PTR-record creation based on the entries in /etc/hosts. I also tried using: host-record=, host-record=, Basically without the interface-name being specified and dig/nslookup would start returning two records. So it means that 'interface- name=,br0' appears to be required to prevent the short version from returning both records. It would seem that the alternative would be to create a local copy of /etc/hosts pruned of all loop back address entries and provide that as the hosts file to read instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1326536 Title: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1326536/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1326536] Re: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM
Perhaps a change could be added to ignore 127.0.0.1 and 127.0.1.1 addresses returned by default? Dnsmasq supports such an option, though it would need to be added to libvirt as it regerates the dnsmasq conf file used each time a network is started. How the heck do I remove poc keyring? I never had any problems with evolution until some thought we needed a key manager. It worked fine with out it, now I can't access email via evolution. [Bug 1292019] Re: ubuntu causes DHCP DOS attack during install
This also affects me, I tried with Ubuntu server iso as well as the netboot tarball. I have tried using an automated install via preseed as well as KS and a manual install just loading the kernel and initrd via tftp. ALL of these methods result in a loop where the client receives a DHCPOFFER from the server(which in my case is our network firewall), this is then followed by a DHCPACK, then the client DHCPDECLINES and keeps looping through all available DHCP addresses in the pool until the DHCP server has no more addresses to give out. There appears to be an old similar bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netcfg/+bug/848072 Is anyone able to look into this? I installed the package on my Fujitsu Lifebook and it is almost unusable - the touchpad fails to detect small touches (i.e. detects only a flat finger, not the fingertip); the x/y values are way off (y movement much faster than x, which is very sluggish). [Bug 1098312]
@Axel, almost definitely the bug fixed by https://github.com/translate/translate/commit/e0d8001989dcf891976df8bb4e17cf9c68f85a9e @Toni using Toolkit from master or the 1.10.0.RC1 release from http://translate.sourceforge.net/snapshots/ will solve this for you. I only spotted the bug after struggling to get Samoan language packs to build from, I think, earlier then 18. Since most people don't/can't install the language pack I was hoping the issue would just filter its way out as the release train got rid of those broken language packs. So unfortunately I didn't audit the .inc files that had gone before the discovery. The fix is quite obvious so could be easy to role out. Would be nice to know if there are any remaining in Beta. Not sure what happens on release though i.e. if it is needed/easy to deploy such a fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1098312 Title: firefox-locale-ca does not work in Firefox 18 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1098312/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

IMO this is a bug, not a feature. If the new behaviour is a 'fature' then it bhaves like this through a bug and not by design. [Bug 991858] Re: volume keys stop working after brightness keys are used
The reason the fn + audio keys don't do anything is that the commands in ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml are lik amixer -q sset Master 3%+ amixer -q sset Master 3%- amixer -q sset Master toggle The problem with this is that amixer can't find anything on my system with the -c1 option there. Another problem is taht while toggling master off mutes everything, toggling it again does not unmute everything. So, I changed these things in lubuntu-rc.xml to invoke these scripts (I got some of the ideas from someobody else's post from somewhere else) volume_up.sh: #!/bin/bash CURRENT_STATE=`amixer -c 1 get Master | egrep 'Playback.*?\[o' | egrep -o '\[o.+\]'` if [[ $CURRENT_STATE == '[on]' ]]; then #amixer -q -c 1 set Master mute cd . # just a noop else amixer -q -c 1 set Master unmute amixer -q -c 1 set Headphone unmute amixer -q -c 1 set Speaker unmute fi amixer -q -c 1 sset Master 3dB+ unmute volume_down.sh: #!/bin/bash CURRENT_STATE=`amixer -c 1 get Master | egrep 'Playback.*?\[o' | egrep -o '\[o.+\]'` if [[ $CURRENT_STATE == '[on]' ]]; then #amixer -q -c 1 set Master mute cd . # just a noop else amixer -q -c 1 set Master unmute amixer -q -c 1 set Headphone unmute amixer -q -c 1 set Speaker unmute fi amixer -q -c 1 sset Master 3dB- unmute toggle_mute.sh: #!/bin/bash CURRENT_STATE=`amixer -c 1 get Master | egrep 'Playback.*?\[o' | egrep -o '\[o.+\]'` if [[ $CURRENT_STATE == '[on]' ]]; then amixer -c 1 set Master mute else amixer -c 1 set Master unmute amixer -c 1 set Headphone unmute amixer -c 1 set Speaker unmute fi % changes iin volume work too, i just like the progression with +/- 3dB better -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991858 Title: volume keys stop working after brightness keys are used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/991858/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 992253] [NEW] radeon driver causes notebook fan to run always on at least medium speed
Public bug reported: I have a Sony VAIO YB3V1E/S with AMD E-450. I did a fresh install of lubuntu 64bit 12.04 LTS on it, and i noticed that with the default opensource driver, the fan would never go below the medium speed (it seems to have three speeds: low, medium, and high). With the proprietary fglrx driver form the repos, the fan normally stays on the low speed when doing easy stuff like browsing the web, etc. I am guessing that the opensource driver probably isn't throttling down the gpu to save power (and heat). ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992253 Title: radeon driver causes notebook fan to run always on at least medium speed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/992253/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 991970] Re: notebook goes back to sleep immediately after being resumed
I just did a fresh re-install of 12.04 lubuntu. I checked it with the default opensource radeon driver and with the fglrx driver from the repos, and it does not happen anymore with either. [Bug 991970] [NEW] notebook goes back to sleep immediately after being resumed
Public bug reported: I'm using 12.04 LTS (Lubuntu) on a Sony VAIO YB3V1E/S AMD E-450 notebook. This didn't happend in 11.10 (I installed 11.10 originally and upgraded it). If I have xfce4-power-manger set to suspend on lid close, then when I open the lid and press a key to resume it, the notebook resumes briefly and then goes backt to sleep. My guess is that maybe xfce4-power-manager is getting a spurrious lid close event after or during the first wakeup. A second key press resumes it again and then it stays awake like it's supposed to. If I disable the use of the lid key for suspsend and do it manually using the sleep key (fn + F12), then I don't have the problem. I'm pretty sure this bug is now (in 11.10) a duplicate of bug 881046 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/881046 I got the source package for xorg-server and removed the patch 219_fedora-pointer-barriers.diff and built it and installed the xserver-common and xserver-xorg-core packages I built I can confirm that zoom and pan with xrandr now work for me as expected.
