[Bug 1766076] Re: USB over thunderbolt turns off every once in a while
I have a similar problem with a USB mouse, except in my case: * Unplugging the mouse from the dock and replugging it fixes the problem. * If I do nothing, the kernel appears to disconnect and reconnect the mouse with a new device number, and it works again until the next hang. [Bug 1762472] Re: Can't accept password with return in login and lock screens
I have exactly the same problem. * Clean install of Kubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Beta amd64 (20180404) * Updated 14-April to latest updates from default package repositories A little more information from my tests: When I log out the cursor is initially in the password field. If I enter my password and press return then I am logged back in. However, if I log out, re-enter my password, tab through the available fields until I am back at the password field and then hit return it no longer works, and I need to use the mouse to log in again. It appears that once I have tabbed out of the password field the return key no longer works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1762472 Title: Can't accept password with return in login and lock screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sddm/+bug/1762472/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1257766] Re: can not reduce brightness on HP ZBook
I have the same problem with a ZBook 14 with Intel/AMD graphics. My current workaround is to use this script (which is actually what I use on my desktop at night): #!/bin/bash xrandr -q | grep connected | awk '{print $1}' | while read d; do echo setting $d xrandr --output $d --brightness $1 done Then just call set-brightness 0.6 for 60% etc. This doesn't bind to the F9 / F10 buttons, but does the trick. Know my way round a unix box, can shell script etc. Just dont know much about ALSA and pulseaudio. [Bug 896755] [NEW] python-software-properties should not depend on unattended-upgrades
Public bug reported: After upgrading to 11.10, attempting to remove the unattended-upgrades package now forces me to remove python-software-properties, which in turn wants to remove nearly 100 other packages which I still need. I can see no reason for a normal package to depend on unattended- upgrades: if anyone can supply one then I'll happily cancel this request. Yes, I know I can disable the unattended-upgrades without actually removing the package, but that is not the point: packages should not introduce unnecessary dependencies. In fact, this appears to be the only package in the entire system which has a dependency on unattended- upgrades: # apt-rdepends -r unattended-upgrades Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done unattended-upgrades Reverse Depends: python-software-properties (0.81.10) This is mentioned in the upstream bug report at http://bugs.debian.org /cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=447701, which appears to be over 4 years old with no sign of action. [Bug 567696] Re: [Radeon] [Lucid] [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop
I too am seeing the very same symptoms, it's happened several times. Machine is a Thinkpad T60 with Radeon Mobility X1400. Here's is a snippet of the debug log. The full log was 18,000+ lines before I encountered this problem. [Bug 314545] Re: gnome-screensaver bad password timeout
One some occasions, I will switch to a console (Alt-F1) to attempt to get something done while waiting for the screensaver to give me the login dialog again. However, when I attempt to switch back (Alt-F7) It only gives me a blank screen. So, it's possible that it is crashing some of the time. In those cases I do 'init 3', force kill gdm X, and then 'init 5'. If I don't switch to the console it eventually comes back up though. Really, this is the only issue I have with Ubuntu 8.04. It was minor enough I waited 8 months to report it, mostly hoping that someone else would and it would get fixed. But It's annoying enough that I finally got motivated. I have low expectations of it getting fixed though. It's too hard to reproduce, which means it's going to be very difficult to narrow down what is the root cause. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. -- gnome-screensaver bad password timeout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314545 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 314545] [NEW] gnome-screensaver bad password timeout
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver I run Ubuntu 8.04 on my work computer. At work, when we step away from our machines we are required to lock the screen, even if it is a simple visit to the printer to get a print out. So I am locking and unlocking my machine constantly throughout the day. Occasionally, I will mistype my password and get the Incorrect password dialog after a few seconds. However, I seem to have an issue where the timeout from a bad password can be upward of 5 minutes. This is NOT after a given number of consecutively bad passwords in a row. As an example: 8:00AM - I unlock my computer for the first time. 9:00AM - I lock my computer and go to a meeting. 9:15AM - I accidentally enter a bad password. Dialog times out after a few seconds. I successfully enter the correct password. 11:00AM - I lock my screen and retrieve a print job from the printer. 11:01AM - I correctly enter my password and the screen unlocks. 12:00PM - I leave for lunch. 1:00PM - I accidentally enter a bad password and I have to wait a long, long time (3-5+ minutes) before it gives me the dialog again. The error message after it comes back up is not Invalid Password, but Timeout expired. It seems to be random when it makes me wait a long time on a bad password entry. It is not a huge deal but it is *highly* annoying. The most common time for me to mis-type a password is when I'm either in a big hurry or under stress due to a tight deadline. Both of which are terrible situations to have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for a bad password dialog to clear.
