2020-09-19 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
Same as the rest got this after returning. But wanted to add one thing
nobody did comment about is that I could keep *show/hide my password*!
That's a security issue if you do not know yet you can use alt+f2 + r to
get rid of the window.

#4 worked for me (lucid) too! It can be slightly shorter though with the
--compile option of apt-get:

sudo apt-get --compile source pgadmin3
sudo dpkg -i pgadmin3_1.10.2-1_i386.deb

after this got my favorite db GUI back ;-)

[Bug 426302] [NEW] Can't locate auto/Image/Magick/strip.al in @INC

2009-09-08 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: imagemagick

Hello,

In a perl script (using ) a perl scripts which uses $image->strip(); I
get the following error:

Can't locate auto/Image/Magick/strip.al in @INC (@INC contains:
/etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0
/usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10
/usr/local/lib/site_perl .)

Ah... ok during typing and testing I found the problem:
$image->strip(); should be $image->Strip(); so with Capital.

I still going to add the bug as I could not find any usefull information
on the intranet.

You can close the call.

[Bug 235944] Re: Hardy: opening a drawer can randomly make gnome-panel hang using 100% cpu

2008-10-17 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
I am not sure it is the same problem but the gnome-panel freezes on me
too after a while... not sure how and why?

Here is what I do so I am able to work. I can work if I only opened all
my windows before the freeze occurs after this I cannot even open any
app via the terminal. I still can use all apps that are open.

1) restart computer (kill gdm or doing a crtl-alt-backspace both have a
negative outcome)
2) quickly open all apps I need

I have hardy with backports on a dell d620 with a digital screen above my
laptop using xrandr.
gnome-panel version is 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu-1

I did try a lot of things to overcome this problem, it did at least cost
me a lot of wasted working hours unfortunatly...

Removing all .gconf* and .gnome* folders (a few times)
Reinstalling gnome-panel and nautilus
Disable compiz
Moved the gnome-panel on both screens but on both screens this problem occures
using only the laptop screen

... but none solved it.

Cheers

As the working copy is on a windows share and TortoiseSVN client has recently
been updated
(TortoiseSVN 1.5.2, Build 13595 - Subversion 1.5.1) and last used in the folder
(So svn has been updated to 1.5.1)

myhost$svn update
svn: This client is too old to work with working copy '.'; please get a newer
Subversion client

The current 8.04 svn version is 1.4.6 so an update would be appriciated.

Can someone create a umbraco upgrade to 1.5.1 in the Hardy branch ?

I see a development version for intrepid here already:

thx,
Bastiaan

[Bug 181050] Re: selected text in thunderbird search isn't replaced when typing

2008-09-08 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
version 2.0.0.16 (20080724) and still the same.

I have to clarify my report. More of a usability annoyance I would say.

in a 2.0.0.9 I had an add-on GMailUI so that when I typed / I ended up
directly in the search box in the top right corner.

Ok select an email in the email list (not in the preview)

So type / or [ctrl]-k to end up in the search box. Type something. hit enter.
(notice the text keeps being selected which is strange too.) Now after you have
a result or not do the above again...
1) As the text is still being selected you expect the focus is still there so
you start typing does not work
2) [ctrl]-k gets the real focus back and start typing... the text is added
after your last search.

Result: You ALWAYS have to first click the [X] or hit [Delete] which is
annoying.

I have the same... but it hangs sometimes a whole day or a few days...
so I start using evolution and after a while trying again it works
magically.

I have a little bit the feeling it could be the lightning add-on giving

[Bug 196461] [NEW] [Hardy] Gnome does not startup after todays upgrade

2008-02-28 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
Public bug reported:

30 min ago after todays upgrade I am unable to get into my gnome
desktop. I can login via gdm but then I get a coloured screen with a
mouse and nothing comes up.

I can restart the xserver with [ctrl-alt-backspace] but it does not change
anything.
[ctrl-Alt-F1] gets me to tty so I could reboot (and do other stuff of course
;-))
I tried rebooting into recovery mode but this didn't help me either.

Conclusion: My Hardy system is broken at the moment. Someone knows hoe
to solve this?

Cheers

[Bug 144641] Re: displayconfig-gtk should generate an randr 1.2 configuration where possible

2008-02-28 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
Standard Hardy start-up doesn't start xrandr correctly (I get a copy of
my laptop monitor on the external screen) the top screen is also in a
lower resolution than the maximum available. (I guess xorg doesnt detect
it well enough)

So with the attached code (got it from somewhere I cant remember) I do
the following (and it meight be usefull for others)

./external-monitor.sh off (I also kill awn in this command as it isnt working
well with screen changes yet)
./external-monitor.sh on above 1280x1024

I guess this is also very handy if you are using a projector (as you can
change the resolution appropriately)

Cheers,

also using compiz cube with xrandr (1.2) and awn curves-look

[Bug 179881] [hardy] xrandr suddently a blank top screen

2008-01-02 Thread Bastiaan Wakkie
Public bug reported:

I do get sometimes after the upgrade to Hardy a blank topscreen.

I start gnome and execure via a session...
xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1280x800 --pos 0x1024
...in order to get my dual screen working (external screen op top of my laptop
screen)

Now I dont know when this happens but not often the top screen blanks out and I
have to blindly drag windows down in order to use them again.
By re-running the xrandr command nothing is changed.

(I even think... I will check now ... that restarting x --> crtl-alt-
backspace solves the problem)
