[Bug 877279] Re: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file
EOG 3.10.2 works fine on a computer with sufficient ram. However, if you run this program on an older computer, eg. with only 512 MB of ram, displaying "large" images (eg. 4000 * 6000, a common size of a modern camera), will cause the computer to hang. The same applies to gThumb. In order to view such images, one can use Shotwell. I reverted to a more lightweight desktop, eg. Xfce, and Ristretto is displaying "large" images without any issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877279 Title: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/877279/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1448616] Re: xubuntu15.04 goes into sleep after power-up
The latest updates installed a new version of systemd which installed a fresh copy of the power-switch-rules. After that I got the same initial problems. Hi Martin, The lid is always open (as you can't power up when the lid is closed, the lid covers the power-button). No extra monitor is attached. [Bug 1366152] Re: System crash when Vasco-card-reader is plugged in at powerup
Hi, I fear that that the backtrace will be rather disappointing, as the gdb doesn't find any symbols for the pcscd-binary. Now the odd thing is, if you start the gdb if you then remove the card-reader for the first time, it doesn't crash. It is only the second time when the read is removed that the application crashes. As there are no symbols, you get only the addresses in the backtrace. If the gdb starts its notifies me that already another instance of pcscd is running. If you look at the green led of the reader, it goes out just before ubuntu-login-screen pops up. If you remove the reader and plug the reader back in, the green led goes on for a second or two and then goes back out. ** Attachment added: "LogGdbVascoReader.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcsc-lite/+bug/1366152/+attachment/4197264/+files/LogGdbVascoReader.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366152 Title: System crash when Vasco-card-reader is plugged in at powerup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcsc-lite/+bug/1366152/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1366152] [NEW] System crash when Vasco-card-reader is plugged in at powerup
Public bug reported: I'm using VASCO Data Security International Digipass 905 SmartCard Reader which is working fine. However if the device is plugged in at power-up, the device isn't handled well. Although the device is in the ilisted usb-devices, pcsc-scan doesn't find the device at all (Which is normal as the green-led is going out after the kernel starts). If one tries to remove the card-reader, a system-crash happens. After that the pcscd-service seems to be halted : pcsc_scan PC/SC device scanner V 1.4.22 (c) 2001-2011, Ludovic Rousseau Compiled with PC/SC lite version: 1.8.10 SCardEstablishContext: Service not available. One can recover from this problem by 1. Unplugging the reader 2. Manually starting the service again by sudo service pcscd start 3. Plugging back the reader in (green led stays on, red led goes on when a card is put in) The bug is not related to a 64-bit architecture as it happens also with 32-bit machines. If one tries to save the data you entered on the fields, then one gets always an error-message: "Error setting the new engine; please check your engine settings.". I want want to specify an ocr-engine per language. Taking a copy of the existing engine by using the "add"-button, doesn't work (-> error-message). In order to circumvent this bug, one has to enter the "detect"-button. A new ocr-engine-entry is then created and by editing this new entry one accomplish the adding of an engine. Example: Existing ocr-engine = Tesseract TIF /usr/bin/tesseract $IMAGE $FILE > /dev/null 2> /dev/null; cat $FILE.txt; rm $FILE $FILE.txt --> The button "detect" yields a copy of this entry. You can edit this entry and no errors will be returned. Added ocr-engine = Tesseract-French TIF /usr/bin/tesseract $IMAGE $FILE -l fra > /dev/null 2> /dev/null; cat $FILE.txt; rm $FILE $FILE.txt ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: ocrfeeder 0.7.9-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-23.35-generic 3.5.7.2 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-23-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Feb 10 10:35:40 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-10-18 (114 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: ocrfeeder UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ocrfeeder (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug quantal running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1121016 Title: Button "add engine" doesn't work properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ocrfeeder/+bug/1121016/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1106788] [NEW] Compiz, maximize vertically if screen edge hit, places window-controls out of reach
Public bug reported: When you have multiple windows of a same application opened (eg. LibreOffice, Gimp, ...), one of the windows is always repositioned with the window-controls out of each => each time you have to resize the window manually and then reposition the window, so to get control of the window-controls. I could avoid this behavior by switching the tag "maximize vertically if screen edge hit" off. The window-controls seems to be placed far above the top of the screen or if the size of the window matches the vertical size of the screen then the controls are hidden behind the top panel. [Bug 857326] Re: Selecting another preferred language in Lubuntu is confusing
>>Wait now... I take it that it _looks like_ Chinese is installed (in language-selector's "Language" tab), while it's actually _not_ >>installed as shown in LanguageSelectorLanguagesInstalled.jpg. Is that what you mean? Right! I upgraded Lubuntu and now language-selector version 0.54 is installed. => chinese and deutch are no longer seen in the language-tabs. It was rather weird to see that dutch was greyed out, although all dialogs were in the duct language. For this reason it moved the 'dutch'-tab to the top. After that I wanted to set my preferred language to English. After selecting "Apply system-wide" and logging out and logging back in, all the dialogs were still in dutch, although "english" was on top and "dutch" was greyed out. After reboot, all the dialogs were in english (as I wanted it to be). The same procedure is required to set the language back to dutch. So one need to reboot in stead of logging_off/in. >> Hmm.. Are you really sure it's a bug #859961 type of crash? I ask because that bug only appears in v. 0.53. Yes, I update this Lubuntu-system daily. Initially I was able to move the language-tabs up/down. Then some days ago, this type of crash happened as soon as the mouse was hovered over the dialog. Today (version 0.54) everthing seems to work well. ocale -a C C.UTF-8 en_AG en_AG.utf8 en_AU.utf8 en_BW.utf8 en_CA.utf8 en_DK.utf8 en_GB.utf8 en_HK.utf8 en_IE.utf8 en_IN en_IN.utf8 en_NG en_NG.utf8 en_NZ.utf8 en_PH.utf8 en_SG.utf8 en_US.utf8 en_ZA.utf8 en_ZM en_ZM.utf8 en_ZW.utf8 nl_AW nl_AW.utf8 nl_BE.utf8 nl_NL.utf8 POSIX cd /var/lib/locales/supported.d; cat $(ls) en_HK.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_DK.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_IN UTF-8 en_ZM UTF-8 en_ZW.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_NZ.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_PH.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_NG UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_AU.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_SG.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_BW.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_AG UTF-8 en_ZA.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_CA.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_IE.UTF-8 UTF-8 nl_BE.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 nl_BE.UTF-8 UTF-8 nl_AW UTF-8 nl_NL.UTF-8 UTF-8 Conclusion. [Bug 857326] Re: Selecting another preferred language in Lubuntu is confusing
Gunnar, thank you very much for your response. First of all, I can see that chinese is installed in Lubuntu as well as in Linux Mint Katya (See screendumps). Notice that my preferred language = ducth (nederlands) and this language is active, but is greyed out? When I start the language-selector after reboot, I get a crash (bug 859961). ll /usr/share/locale-langpack reveals that nor "deutsch" nor "chinese" is installed. After regenerating the locales, both "deutsch" and "chineses" are still in the selector (dutch is still greyed out, although it is my preferred language. I can't select it neither ... dialog doesn't respond to the selection (due to the 859961 bug?) >> After logging off, the preferred laguage wansn't changed. One has to >> reboot the system before it's getting changed >No, that's a misconception. If you change the user language from Dutch to English and log out, you end up at the login >screen. If you log in again instantly, you should see English as the display language. Actually I switched the preferred language, logged off and logged back in. Language wasn't changed. Only after reboot did the changes take place (can't test this now, because the language-selector-dialog doesn't react on a selection). When I changed the language, I pressed "apply systemwide"-button.
