[Bug 1007898] Re: Update Manager window often freezes and is invisible when computer is left on for a while

2012-06-16 Thread Blanca Mancilla
This happens to me too. At first it was in an old machine where I
installe 12.04, but left it alone thinking that there was something
clashing because of old hardware. Now it is happenning in a new HP
laptop 8460p with 12.04 as well.

Has anybody recently have problems with this? Since updating to 10.04, I
can't even start the daemon manually. I'm looking around for the scripts
but haven't found yet.

[Bug 571294] Re: Lucid Linx: built in microphone doesn't work anymore

2010-05-26 Thread Blanca Mancilla
Hi,
I have the same problem. My internal mic for recording is somehow disconnected,
including in applications like skype. Using alsamixer and boosting the volume
allows me to hear that the mic is working but that's all I can do with it. And
this since the upgrade to 10.04.

Before pulse, I was able to individually select my devices: choose the
usb speakers to output the sound from one application, while listening
to music on my headset using another application, and so on. Now I'm not
sure my usb works independently (don't have it with me so I can't
check). Alsamixer allowed before the choosing of the input devices. Now,
as has been said before, it doesn't. I'm not sure If there are any files
i should attach. If anybody knows, please let me know.

Is there any manual or tutorial anywhere explaining the interactions
between pulse, alsa and the devices, in such a way that it provides a
practical view on how to indidually manipulate them, or at least who is
controlling what? How can we check to what device are the computer
volume controls connected? Can we choose?

Re: [Bug 365819] Re: brasero does not eject source DVD to ask for blank DVD when burning 1:1

2009-04-24 Thread Blanca Mancilla
Hi,

I have not tried. I just used what came with 8.10. I do all my updates
so I haven't looked into newer releases.
Waiting long enough, the complete burning process works (as I expereinced
4th time around).

[Bug 365320] [NEW] Stopmotion's vgrabbj can't turn on my webcam

2009-04-22 Thread Blanca Mancilla
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: stopmotion

While trying to capture video using my HP elite's webcam, Stopmotion's
vgrabbj can't start the camera. In email exchange with Jens Gecius
(developer of vgrabbj) he said that his SW expects a switched on camera.
He doesn't maintain vgrbbj anymore.

The camera works fine with skype, cheese and VLC. He suggested switching on the
camera prior to using vgrabbj.
Since I'm new to all this multimedia stuff, I have no idea how to do that.
(I've been trying to find out.)

Would this be a bug or a feature?
