[Bug 1909805] Re: libclc-amdgcn missing files for current AMD APUs

2024-06-26 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
> Where can be such a "update request" placed?

As Ubuntu is a feature-freeze distribution, it won't accept new features
to the software archive after the freeze date.

However, there are still some ways of shipping such things to the users:

* If you have a direct/indirect contract with Canonical, Ltd.(like, via AMD),
you may make them create an exception.
* You can make use of the Ubuntu Backports project to make the new package
available to the backports archive:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports.
* As an unofficial method, you can host a PPA archive to provide any packages
that don't meet the inclusion criteria.

it's such a hassle to do so, is there any practical reason for not

[Bug 1916729] [NEW] libnss3 package in Ubuntu 20.10 ships files under `/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}` literally without expansion

2021-02-24 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
Public bug reported:

```
brlin@groovy:~$ dpkg-query --listfiles libnss3
/.
/usr
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}
...stripped...
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.chk
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.so
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.chk
/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.so
```

The path appears to be a result of a failed parameter expansion.

[Bug 1827697] [NEW] Enroll key whiptail prompt blocks kernel header package upgrades

2019-05-04 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
Public bug reported:

I noticed that sometimes the system upgrade is blocked in the kernel
header package's configure phase, in the process manager I found that it
is blocked by the "Configuring Secure Boot" whiptail prompt started by
`update-secureboot-policy --enroll-key` which doesn't surface to the
terminal and hence not interactable.

Refer the attached screenshot for the process status at the time.

[Bug 1810659] [NEW] The as6e backend triggered "stack smashing detected" crash when connecting Epson Perfection V39 with proprietary driver

2019-01-06 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
Public bug reported:

## Bug Reproduction Instructions ##

After a few seconds of the function call `sane_get_devices` the application
crashed with "*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated" message

## Workaround ##
Comment out the `as6e` line in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

[Bug 1810142] [NEW] Loop device mounpoints are listed in the snap distribution of the GNOME System Monitor

2018-12-31 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
Public bug reported:

As title, while the APT distribution only listed "regular disks" mount
points, the snap distribution listed all of them.

[Bug 1576411] Re: UTF-8 is not very well supported inside snaps

2018-11-28 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
I wonder if my `locales-launch` remote part can workaround this issue at the
snap end?:
https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/the-locales-launch-remote-part/8729

Also according to the discussion at https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/lack-
of-compiled-locales-breaks-gettext-based-localisation/3758 , can't we
just simply put a copy of compiled data of all reasonable locales into
the core snap?

[Bug 1797779] [NEW] [snap] Spellchecking appears to be not working

2018-10-14 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
Public bug reported:

Possibly related console output:

```
(gedit:16993): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 22:40:02.951: Error creating IO channel for
/proc/self/mountinfo: Permission denied (g-file-error-quark, 2)
(gedit:16993): gspell-WARNING **: 22:40:03.068: iso_639.xml: Failed to
open file ?/usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_639.xml?: open() failed: No such
file or directory
(gedit:16993): gspell-WARNING **: 22:40:03.068: iso_3166.xml: Failed to open
file ?/usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_3166.xml?: open() failed: No such file or
directory
```

The check spelling window spills "Error: Spell checker error: no
language set. It’s maybe because no dictionaries are installed."

In the poedit snap that uses GtkSpell and Enchant to implement the
spellchecking we patched the iso-codes prefix and packs all the spellchecking
dictionaries to solve the issue:
https://github.com/vslavik/poedit/blob/master/snap/snapcraft.yaml

Also, I've packaged a Hunspell content snap that provides the dictionaries:
https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/the-hunspell-dictionaries-content-snap/7160

[Bug 1778074] Re: `mp3splt-gtk` package is not available in Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial)

2018-08-18 Thread Buo-ren, Lin
It seems that the package is dropped in Debian at the time, therefore
not available in Ubuntu 16.04. I have packaged a snap package that can
be installed by running the following command in the terminal:

snap install mp3splt-gtk

or searching "mp3splt" in the Ubuntu Software Center, or browse:
https://snapcraft.io/mp3splt-gtk
