kelebek333/kablosuz PPA has no support for ARM arch. You must manually
install the driver for ARM devices from arm branch of following github

2021-10-25 Thread Butterfly
@freewee, xorg-modulepath-fix package is not require for installing
nvidia-340 package. xorg-modulepath-fix package is automatically
modified xorg.conf file for adding module-path fixes. If you do not
need to create xorg.conf files or you have already added module-path fix
by manually, you do not need to install the xorg-modulepath-fix package.

Note: I updated xorg-modulepath-fix package to use nvidia-xconfig
command options.

Nvidia-340 package in the PPA repository has supports up to kernel 5.15
and also supports bionic, focal, hirsute and impish bases.

2021-02-03 Thread Butterfly
@xnox,

I guess what you're talking about is related this commit.
https://github.com/tseliot/ubuntu-drivers-
common/commit/f24220e1565610ade7da723adfcf7a25d2adefcb

As I understand that, ubuntu-drivers auto installs linux-modules-
nvidia-* package if available together nvidia driver package. So the
nvidia driver can work with secureboot. If so, ubuntu-drivers is not
auto-sign building nvidia driver.

However, there is no package for linux-modules-nvidia-* related to
nvidia-340 driver in repository. In other words, nvidia-340 driver
installed from official repository will not work with secureboot.

If there is wrong in my writing, can you correct it?

Hi Dimitri John Ledkov (@xnox),

What happens when installed driver with ubuntu-drivers is updated with
the update manager? In this case, new module that is not installed with
ubuntu-driver will not be signed? Can you share an official reference
that the Ubuntu-drivers tool automatically signs the modules? I have
never come across any information about the auto-signature capability of
the ubuntu-drivers tool and I wondering how it works.

Best regards.

2020-04-16 Thread Butterfly
Hi,

Using the patches in the aur repository, I prepared a PPA repository for
the nvidia-340. If wish you can install nvidia-340 package (supported
for kernel 5.5, 5.6 series) from PPA. You can add PPA with following
command.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kelebek333/nvidia-legacy

[Bug 1770044] Re: plasmashell crashes on login - so I can't use my desktop system.

2018-09-26 Thread Buddy Butterfly
Btw. I was shocked that a bug in a component could bring down the whole plasma
shell. Where is the
design goal of decoupling of components? I mean, I love KDE, but KDEs quality
seems to be dependent
on every little app running there? Oh my goodness I would have expected a
list of components with its status. Something like (unloaded, loaded, active,
broken, etc.), but KDE running up and being stable. Something like osgi for
KDE? ;-)

[Bug 786078] Re: /pric/acpi/dsdt missing in natty Xubuntu

2011-05-22 Thread chocolate butterfly
Same here. I downloaded and burned a copy of xubuntu 64-bit 11.04 on a
dvd disc. Booted and did not find any dsdt file in /proc/acpi

My battery isn't detected either.

uname -a
Linux ubuntu 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011

I've attached a copy of my dmesg.

[Bug 232288] Re: Screen Goes Black Due To Inactivity

2008-05-21 Thread chocolate butterfly
I checked xdg-screensaver with the terminal and I've checked the status by
issuing the command:
xdg-screensaver status

It returned nothingso I assume that it's off because I know that I
set it off before over at xfce settings manager(screensaver)

[Bug 232288] [NEW] Screen Goes Black Due To Inactivity

2008-05-20 Thread chocolate butterfly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Linux myname 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04

Output of lspci -vvnn:
http://pastebin.com/f69542282

Output of /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
http://pastebin.com/f322e5d75

Output of /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
http://pastebin.com/f111ec251

My laptop specs:
http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/3000Series/4386sp3.shtml

I'm not on gnome but xfce under Xubuntu 8.04. Basically the problem is
that the screen goes black after about 20 minutes or 15 minutes of
inactivity. Under my power management settings, I set it to never use
screensaver and never do nothing when idle. I set everything in the
settings to "Never and Do Nothing" but the problem is still their. If I
move my mouse the screen turns back on. I'm afraid that this will
disrupt my offline work and risk losing my unsaved work. Thanks for your
time.
