[Bug 875115] [NEW] reporting battery critical when almost full

2011-10-15 Thread Chris Myers
Public bug reported:

The battery life tool is incorrectly predicting the life of the battery
in Ubuntu 11.10.

This causes an unwanted shutdown when the laptop has plenty of power
left. It has done this immediately after pulling the power out of the
back of the laptop - My battery is not faulty.

Some info about my system:

root@Lenovo:~# cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/info
present: yes
design capacity: 5100 mAh
last full capacity: 5100 mAh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 11100 mV

present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: discharging
present rate:0 mA
remaining capacity: 2703 mAh
present voltage: 11100 mV

root@Lenovo:~# cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/alarm
alarm: unsupported

I am unsure whether this is helpful. Please let me know if I can do
anything else.

Many thanks,

Chris.

[Bug 459664] [NEW] Backuppc errors restoring when it encounters filenames starting ~$

2009-10-24 Thread Chris Myers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: backuppc

Backuppc errors restoring when it encounters filenames starting ~$

Some background:

~$ files are temporary files, created by Microsoft Word in the
current directory whilst Word is editing the original file.

For example - opening filename.doc with word creates an additional
file ~$filename.doc

If Word crashes, it leaves this file behind. It's not usually a
problem, but it is playing havoc with BackupPC restore.

BackupPC backs up these files without a problem. I found that if I select a
directory for restoration that contains a ~$xxx file, the restore fails.

The only workarond I can think of for the moment Is to do a nightly
purge of the pesky ~$xxx files before backups take place.

Cheers,

Chris.

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old

This results in not being able to complete updates.

replacing the Ubuntu version with the Debian version (apt-
cacher_1.6.4_all.deb) works fine for me.

I'm willing to do more digging if required.

I've used apt-cacher for years find it very useful. Many thanks.

[Bug 353859] Re: Vinagre F11 fullscreen toggle not responding

2009-04-05 Thread Chris Myers
I can confirm that enabling menu shortcuts works.

Should this be renamed Enable keyboard shortcuts for clarity?

The help documentation tells you which shortcut keys should be used, but
fails to mention that these need enabling.

The help could do with amending to prevent other users from complaining.

Once again, thanks.

This is a little embarrassing. The PC that has the shutdown problem no
longer belongs to me. I helped out a friend in need the PC is now on

I realize that I should have taken the required information before
giving it away, but neglected to do so.

I'm truly sorry for wasting your time I hope someone else can help
