[Bug 1624317] Re: systemd-resolved breaks VPN with split-horizon DNS

2017-01-11 Thread Christian Dysthe
I am problems with the Fortclient SSL VPN client I need for work.
systemd-resolved overwrites the DNS entries set by the VPN client. The
connection is set up with Network-Manager. This worked fine in 16.04 and
works on Arch with the same VPN client. I do not know if this is exactly
the problem discusses here, but I am not able to use my VPN client
software on Ubuntu 16.10.

I downloaded directly from Mozilla.org (link in #8) and ran it. No
crash, so this is the Ubuntu package being broken. At least I can get
work done now.

What recent update solved the problem? I have a fully updated 16.10

work e-mail so this is bad.

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-10-08 Thread Christian Dysthe
I've also upgraded to 16.10 and see the same issues. There's also other
networking issues on my laptops that wasn't present in 15.10. Seems that
Wi-Fi and networking was fundamentally broken in 16.04 and now carries
over to 16.10

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-09-25 Thread Christian Dysthe
I am having the same problem in Ubuntu 16.10 Beta 1. The main reason I
went for it so early was hoping these issues were resolved. They are
not. There's always problems when I come home after work and resume my
laptop. I'm either stuck on the now non existing work network or I do
not have any networks at all. I have tried "everything". I have two of
these Yoga Pro laptops, one with vanilla Ubuntu 16.10 beta and one with
UbuntuGNOME. On UbuntuGNOME no such problems.

I am having this problem but in addition nm-applet is often gone from

related. I fix it by doing a "killall nm-applet; nohup nm-applet &" but
I would rather not have to.

[Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-07-16 Thread Christian Dysthe
I have made an interesting observation. I only see this problem on my
Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 1st Gen, but not with the X1 Carbon 2nd and
3rd Gen. I have all three and they are all running Ubunity 16.04 x64. So
maybe this depends on the version of the wi-fi hardware? All these
laptops have Intel wi-fi hardware, but newer versions in 2nd and 3rd
Gen. I'm still having wi-fi hiccups after resume with the 1st Gen
machine after adding proposed.

I'm trying @Joakim Koed 's script now.

[Bug 1548977] [NEW] No "empty trash" context menu entry for the trashcan in the filemanager sidebar

2016-02-23 Thread Christian Dysthe
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch) 16.04 x64
Nautilus 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu2

In the file manager there are shortcuts to special folders such as
Documents, Music and Pictures. There's also a Trashcan shortcut. When
right clicking on the trashcan there's no "empty trash" entry to empty
the trashcan. It has the same options as the other shortcuts. If I want
to empty trash from the file manager I have to enter the trash folder
and delete it's content. That has not been the case in earlier Ubuntu
releases.

[Bug 1320479] Re: VLC cannot open videos (smb:// URL) in Lubuntu 14.04 (using PCmanFM)

2014-08-21 Thread Christian Dysthe
This bug is present on other distros as well so it seems to be a PCManFM
bug. Maybe it needs to be pushed upstream? Seems like PCManFM messes up
the path so that most players, not only VLC, can't play the content. The
only two players I have found that is usable is GNOME-Mplayer and
barebones mplayer.

[Bug 1268880] Re: unable to toggle microphone mute on T410 / unable to unload thinkpad_acpi module

2014-04-07 Thread Christian Dysthe
I have further updates on this:

I am running Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 daily and the mic mute/unmute is not
working on my Thinkpad T430S. I didn't think Ubuntu flavor was on
importance and that this was a kernel issue. Tthen I tried to boot
Ubuntu 14.04 daily and the mic mute/unmute works! The OSD information on
Ubuntu is wrong though showing volume mute/unmute but the microphone is
actually being muted/unmuted. Also, mic mute/unmute does not work with
final 3.14 mainline kernel on Ubuntu GNOME daily. This shows that
there's more than the kernel involved in this problem since it works in
Ubuntu 14.04 daily and not in Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 daily.

[Bug 1290442] [NEW] Folder bookmark icons in Nautilus in color instead of black as it used to be.

2014-03-10 Thread Christian Dysthe
Public bug reported:

On a fresh Ubuntu-GNOME 14.04 install icons for folders added as
bookmarks in Nautilus are in color instead of black as the other side
bar icons are. Network place bookmarks are black as they should be. The
color icons for bookmarked folders were not present in Ubuntu GNOME
13.10. See screen shot here where the 'Notes' and "BitTorrent' bookmark
icons are in color while the 'Media Storage' for a network share is
black:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a3esaeygmdrh5qg/BookmarkIconsNautilus.png

I would expect all the icons in the sidebar to have the same color as it
did in previous versions.

[Bug 1244764] Re: ubuntu 13.10 bluetooth not working correctly

2014-02-23 Thread Christian Dysthe
I'm having the same or very similar problem. When I turn Bluetooth off I
am not able to turn it on again. It just pops back to off. The only way
for me to get it enabled again is first run: sudo rfkill list all, find
the bluetooth device:

2: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no

I then run sudo rfkill unblock 2 and I can turn on Bluetooth again. I
do not understand why the it's being "soft blocked".

I have tried booting Manjaro Gnome and it doesn't have this problem, so
it seems to be a Ubuntu problem.

I can confirm that the memory leak is still appearant in a fresh Ubuntu
12.04 install. A restart brings it back to normal for a while, but then
it takes off towards 1 GB again.

[Bug 966744] Re: [i965] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended. Compiz hung in intel_update_renderbuffers() from intel_prepare_render() from brw

2012-09-26 Thread Christian Dysthe
I have a Thinkpad L520 which had this problem in 12.10. I have also had
this problem on an Asus machine a while back. I tried the solution I
found for the Asus on my Thinkpad and it worked. This is what I did:

Create a file /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom_ehci_hcd containing:

#!/bin/sh
# File: "/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd".
case "${1}" in
 hibernate|suspend)
# Unbind ehci_hcd for first device :00:1a.0:
echo -n ":00:1a.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
# Unbind ehci_hcd for second device :00:1d.0:
echo -n ":00:1d.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
;;
 resume|thaw)
# Bind ehci_hcd for first device :00:1a.0:
echo -n ":00:1a.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
# Bind ehci_hcd for second device :00:1d.0:
echo -n ":00:1d.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
;;
esac

Set it 755 and owned by root. Now the display returns after sleep
without problems.
