I am problems with the Fortclient SSL VPN client I need for work. systemd-resolved overwrites the DNS entries set by the VPN client. The connection is set up with Network-Manager. This worked fine in 16.04 and works on Arch with the same VPN client. I've also upgraded to 16.10 and see the same issues. There's also other networking issues on my laptops that wasn't present in 15.10. I am having the same problem in Ubuntu 16.10 Beta 1. The main reason I went for it so early was hoping these issues were resolved. They are not. There's always problems when I come home after work and resume my laptop. I'm either stuck on the now non existing work network or I do not have any networks at all. I have tried "everything". I have two of these Yoga Pro laptops, one with vanilla Ubuntu 16.10 beta and one with UbuntuGNOME. I am having this problem but in addition nm-applet is often gone from the notifications when my laptop wakes from suspend. I wonder if that is related. I have made an interesting observation. I only see this problem on my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 1st Gen, but not with the X1 Carbon 2nd and 3rd Gen. I have all three and they are all running Ubunity 16.04 x64. So maybe this depends on the version of the wi-fi hardware? All these laptops have Intel wi-fi hardware, but newer versions in 2nd and 3rd Gen. I'm still having wi-fi hiccups after resume with the 1st Gen machine after adding proposed. Forget my previous comment. It happened again as I got home from work. No wifi networks available. Then I get the wired icon in the notification area and I am connected but no networks show up and there's no way I can get back to normal without a reboot. I also see the same problem coming out of suspend. Manually restarting network-manager with 'sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service' is a workaround but not a solution. This bug is present on other distros as well so it seems to be a PCManFM bug. Maybe it needs to be pushed upstream? Seems like PCManFM messes up the path so that most players, not only VLC, can't play the content. I have further updates on this: I am running Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 daily and the mic mute/unmute is not working on my Thinkpad T430S. I didn't think Ubuntu flavor was on importance and that this was a kernel issue. Tthen I tried to boot Ubuntu 14.04 daily and the mic mute/unmute works! The OSD information on Ubuntu is wrong though showing volume mute/unmute but the microphone is actually being muted/unmuted. Also, mic mute/unmute does not work with final 3.14 mainline kernel on Ubuntu GNOME daily. I'm having the same or very similar problem. When I turn Bluetooth off I am not able to turn it on again. It just pops back to off. The only way for me to get it enabled again is first run: sudo rfkill list all, find the bluetooth device: 2: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no I then run sudo rfkill unblock 2 and I can turn on Bluetooth again. I do not understand why the it's being "soft blocked". I have a Thinkpad L520 which had this problem in 12.10. I have also had this problem on an Asus machine a while back. I tried the solution I found for the Asus on my Thinkpad and it worked. This is what I did: Create a file /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom_ehci_hcd containing: #!/bin/sh # File: "/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd". case "${1}" in hibernate|suspend) # Unbind ehci_hcd for first device :00:1a.0: echo -n ":00:1a.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind # Unbind ehci_hcd for second device :00:1d.0: echo -n ":00:1d.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind ;; resume|thaw) # Bind ehci_hcd for first device :00:1a.0: echo -n ":00:1a.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind # Bind ehci_hcd for second device :00:1d.0: echo -n ":00:1d.0" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind ;; esac Set it 755 and owned by root.
