Yeah, the 107 works fine.
But I don't understand how the new kernels (112/113) don't work well either

[Bug 2066347] Re: Thunderbird Snap cannot access profile outside home after 24.04 upgrade

2024-06-01 Thread Cristian Marchi
Hi, same problem here. I've my tb profile and mail stored on a second
hard drive. Creating a new tb profile and linking it to the existing
folder in the second hd, I can see the email account in the left panel
in tb but no emails are displayed.

I noticed that in the new profile the link to the existing folder is
"/run/user/1000/doc/25c344c1/TBprofile" while in the non-snap tb it was
"/mnt/POSTA/TBprofile". Both paths are accessible using the terminal

[Bug 1961030] [NEW] Default firewall rules with firewalld are differnt to the ones with ufw

2022-02-16 Thread Cristian Morales Vega
Public bug reported:

I'm no expert on firewalls. But coming from Fedora, I found ufw more
complicated than firewalld. So I did run "apt remove ufw" and "apt install
firewalld" to replace ufw with firewalld, which I'm more familiar with.
I don't expect this operation to change the actual firewall rules, but I found
it did. Not by some detailed analysis of the rules, but by the fact that when
using firewalld my printer is not detected.

I have never installed any driver. AFAIK my printer can be used, as any
half modern one, via "IPP Everywhere". So it would seem the default
firewalld configuration differs from the ufw, at the very least, in it
breaking "IPP Everywhere" support.

That same printer was detected from Fedora, using firewalld. For

[Bug 1960334] Re: Missing dependency in wireshark-dev

2022-02-08 Thread Cristian Morales Vega
FWIW the Fedora 35 Wireshark 3.6.1 package says the more correct

# Create imported target wsutil
add_library(wsutil SHARED IMPORTED)

set_target_properties(wsutil PROPERTIES
  INTERFACE_LINK_LIBRARIES
"/usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so;/usr/lib64/libgmodule-2.0.so"
)

instead of what the Ubuntu 21.10 Wireshark 3.4.7 package says

# Create imported target wsutil
add_library(wsutil SHARED IMPORTED)

set_target_properties(wsutil PROPERTIES
  INTERFACE_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES "/usr/include;/usr/include"
  INTERFACE_LINK_LIBRARIES
"dl;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgmodule-2.0.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgpg-error.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so;m"
  INTERFACE_SYSTEM_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES "/usr/include;/usr/include"
)

I have not checked where the difference comes from (wireshark version,
cmake version or something else).

[Bug 1960334] [NEW] Missing dependency in wireshark-dev

2022-02-08 Thread Cristian Morales Vega
Public bug reported:

wireshark-dev-3.4.7-1~exp1 from Ubuntu 21.10 includes the file
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/wireshark/cmake/WiresharkTargets.cmake. I
don't really understand what's the difference between wireshark-dev and
libwireshark-dev. cmake/WiresharkConfig.cmake and pkgconfig/wireshark.pc
have basically the same function, but they are in different packages?
But in any case, WiresharkTargets.cmake says:

add_library(wsutil SHARED IMPORTED)

set_target_properties(wsutil PROPERTIES
  INTERFACE_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES "/usr/include;/usr/include"
  INTERFACE_LINK_LIBRARIES
"dl;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgmodule-2.0.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgpg-error.so;/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so;m"
  INTERFACE_SYSTEM_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES "/usr/include;/usr/include"
)

But wireshark-dev doesn't depend on anything providing
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcrypt.so or /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/libgnutls.so. I had to manually install libgnutls28-dev and
libgcrypt20-dev to build my Wireshark dissector with a cmake build
system (the epan target depends on the wsutil target).

Probably WiresharkTargets.cmake is wrong, the dependency doesn't really
exist, but as long as it says it's there the package metadata should
probably have it too.

[Bug 1960328] [NEW] Missing header means it's not possible to build third-party plugins

2022-02-08 Thread Cristian Morales Vega
Public bug reported:

https://salsa.debian.org/debian/wireshark/-/commit/d3c942593b8cb061e09b1bd9d0cb3c689105f17c
fixes an issue in which some headers where not being packaged, but
that's not in the Ubuntu 21.10 package. Specifically, the lack of
ws_version.h makes it impossible to build any third-party plug-in (e.g.
dissector) since the plug-in needs to match the Wireshark version
(because of a lack of a stable plug-in ABI, I guess).

2020-09-07 Thread Cristian Waimann
Hello Kai!!. It WORKS!!

All my respects to you. Thank you very much for your knowledge and time.
Really, you are the only one who has solved this problem considering
every Linux distribution (included Fedora which is supposed to have an
agreement with Lenovo).

I really appreciate what you've done.

Is this solution going to be released in a new Ubuntu official kernel?

Cheers

Cristian

I edited /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file. I added the following line

blacklist elan_i2c

After that I rebooted the laptop but touchpad is still not recognized

Do I have to do any extra action to be sure it is using i2c-hid ?

2020-09-03 Thread Cristian Waimann
Hi Kai,

attached on this message are the log files for dmesg, udevadm and the
prpduct version.

I have to point out two things:

1) I don't know how, but on ONE occasion TOUCHPAD WORKED with your
kernel. It worked with its basic functions. However never happened again
after several reboots.

2) Shut down or reboot is not working on your kernel. I have to press
power button to power off the laptop since it is waiting for some action
that never occurred.

Thanks again Kai

Hello Kai,

that could be referred to the problem we are living. I am copying the
output lines of:

This is the output:

Thanks for our efforts.

I tried to contact Lenovo Support team and their answer is really
disappointing. They said Lenovo IML 15 is not certified for linux
systems, so, I should use Windows instead. Thing is that I don't like
their solution

Hello Kain-Heng

I only added the following line on /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

blacklist elan_i2c

i2c-hid and hid-multitouch do not appear on blacklist.conf

I attached lsmod.log as requested.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it

2020-06-04 Thread Cristian Waimann
Ok Kai,

I modified grub options to select the kernel version. Now "uname -r"
output is: 5.4.0-34-generic

Touchpad is still not working. I run dmesg and udevadm again and attached the
logs on this message.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Bug 1853277] Re: Lenovo ThinkBook 14-IML Touchpad not showing up in /proc/bus/input/devices

2020-06-04 Thread Cristian Waimann
Hi kai,

I am probably doing something wrong installing test kernel published in
https://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1853277/

I downloaded every file in the link you shared and install them using:

sudo dpkg -i each-.deb-file

However you are right, output of uname -r is: 5.6.15-050615-generic which is
the newest stable kernel

What am I missing?

2020-05-18 Thread Cristian Waimann
Hi, i'm experiencing exactly the same problem as pavelcheto. I've got a
Lenovo Thinkbook 15 IML. BIOS is up to date as firmware.

I tried updating ubuntu 20.04 kernel to its newest version but nothing
happened.

Patch proposed by nicolai do not apply because i've got no "" in
my dsdt.dsl file.

Could someone solve this problem?.

[Bug 1875148] [NEW] USB ports on Raspberry Pi are deactivated when connecting a Drobo unit

2020-04-26 Thread Cristian Álvarez
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release
   Description: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
   Release: 20.04

Version package
   linux-raspi:
 Installed: 5.4.0.1008.8
 Candidate: 5.4.0.1008.8
 Version table:
*** 5.4.0.1008.8 500

A Drobo unit is an external Raid. My precise model is the 5D3, that can be
connected via USB. A Mac computer will see it as an SCSI external hard disk
drive of 70TB capacity.

Kernel used by Ubuntu 18, would allow to plug in the unit and mount the
device. I'm using now Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with kernel 5.4.0-1008-raspi but
it doesn't work anymore.

The moment the device is plugged in, it is correctly detected:
   [ 85.177095] usb 1-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd

But some seconds later, there is a firmware transaction timeout and as result,
all USB ports are deactivated until reboot:
   [ 92.733076] Firmware transaction timeout
   [ 92.733495] hwmon hwmon0: Failed to get throttled (-110)
   [ 95.356138] xhci_hcd :01:00.0: xHCI host controller not responding,
assume dead

Because USB ports are now deactivated, it is not possible to assign an address

[Bug 1842190] [NEW] upgrade to 19.04

2019-08-31 Thread Cristian Bungau via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

I am trying to upgrate to Ubuntu 19, mainly because my Ubuntu 18
installation went crazy, and the Intel graphics driver has decided to
play tricks. I can now see many small (dashed) horizontal balck lines on
my monitor. But the upgrade fails and I am asked to use ppa-purge to get
read of unofficial software. I have removed all unofficial software I
could find, but it is still not letting me upgrade.

Looks like my problem was unrelated to this issue, it was actually
caused by timidity blocking the physical sound device.

This workaround fixed it: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1085174/no-

[Bug 1822426] Re: 19.04 Built in Intel HDA sound is disabled upon resume

2019-04-04 Thread Cristian Măgherușan-Stanciu
I also noticed this, my laptop's integrated Intel audio device is also
missing from pulseaudio(both as input and output), but I can see other
HDMI or USB sound devices I may have attached and I can switch to them
and they work as expected.

Interestingly the device works when playing a WAV file using aplay, but
only if I run aplay as root. As a normal user I can just see it in
alsamixer and I can play with the volume and mute controls there.

Here's the error I get when using aplay as my ordinary user:
$  aplay test.wav
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1071:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore
aplay: main:828: audio open error: Permission denied

[Bug 1764047] Re: Unable to switch realm on authentication dialog

2019-03-13 Thread Cristian Măgherușan-Stanciu
For now Ubuntu 18.04 packages of openconnect-8.02 are available in my
PPA: https://launchpad.net/~cristi/+archive/ubuntu/openconnect

I also tried to create packages for 18.10 but those fail to compile and
I didn't have time to look into it yet, any help would be more than
welcome.

@Mike unfortunately I don't have more to spend on this, but if you could
make some packages and put them in a PPA maybe someone out there could
give it a try.

Can someone update openconnect to version 8 in universe, at least for
