Hi Brian, I did what you said both with and without the first 2 lines in my interfaces file and also with and without changing managed=false to true in my nm-system-settings.conf file, but still nothing. When my interfaces is like it is now (file attached) and managed set to false it says device is unmanaged when I click on my network app. ** Attachment added: "interfaces.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21671197/interfaces.log -- No Wired Internet Connection in 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: My 3G internet connection works perfectly, but when plugging a wired network's cable in it detects it and tells me I'm connected, but I can't access the internet. [Bug 289455] Re: Repository not Updating
Thanks. I'll do that. Another thing I noticed is that when updating after changing the server to a working one, the software sources windows does not close, although everything is grayed out. When clicking on the X it wants to reload again. The only way to get out of this is to say no to the reloading request. I just installed Ubuntu on a friends laptop who is a Linux virgin! lol! The windows not closing issue happens on my computer his. I know this is not part of this bug, I just don't want to create another bug request if its not necessary. [Bug 289455] Re: Repository not Updating
I changed it back to the main and "Server for South Africa" respectively, but got the same problem. Then I played around with it a bit. I let it choose the best server again, that happened to be a server in Europe and it worked. It also found about 10 MB of updates. After that I manually chose the ubuntu.mirror.ac.za server in South Africa, which reloaded fine, but had no updates. I also tried the ftp.leg.uct.ac.za server, but that took so long to update that I canceled it. Then, I took the best server option again, and this time it chose a mirror in Botswana, that has about 20MB of updates. Note that I didn't not download any of those updates yet. Should I or should I wait for the local server? So, in other words: The main and South African servers (excluding ubuntu.mirror.ac.za) is not working. Does the fact that updates differ from server to server mean that they are still busy updating? [Bug 219192] Re: [hardy] livecd: keyword "persistent" results in busybox and (initramfs)
I'm using the new initrd that was posted here and got it to work. But the problem is it only works when it wants to! Sometimes it just doesn't want to boot up and gives a hell of a lot of file error while starting up, or the persistency disappears. One of the directories that I'm suppose to be copying to my flash drive is the disctree directory. But I don't have that. It is not on the CD. Am I the only one with this problem? Also, once this actually works, will I be able to put files on the flash drive home directory to use when I run Ubuntu from it?
