[Bug 1928312] Re: ghost compose window with wayland
Exact same problem here but for me it happens with both Desktop Icon NG extension enabled or disabled. This is pretty annoying since the only workaround is to logout and login again. 1. Yes, this is reproducible 2. * Install amavisd-new using your favorite package manager * Be sure to have $quarantine_subdir_levels = 1 (or higher). This should be the default * Wait for an e-mail to land into the quarantine * Try to release it with amavisd-release = File not found because of wrong path. The subdirectory from directory hashing is missing. On a default installation, you can find e-mail in the quarantine using: # find /var/lib/amavis/virusmails/ -type f I looked a bit at amavisd-release but my Perl knowledge is not that good. [Bug 660438] Re: Support new compcache-0.6 features
The version of compcache included in the Maverick kernel is 0.6. The sysfs interface is available since 0.7 which doesn't seem to be release yet: http://code.google.com/p/compcache/source/browse/Changelog I think it is better to wait for 0.7 to be integrated upstream. [Bug 662304] [NEW] Shotwell has no burn to CD/DVD feature
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: shotwell Shotwell has currently no Burn to CD/DVD feature. Shotwell can export to disk, upload to facebook, picasa, etc but a lot of users would probably like to be able to easily burn picture CDs/DVDs. This enhancement has already been reported upstream: http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2101 Moreover, I would expect drag and drop to work between shotwell and brasero. This is not the case with the versions in Maverick. [Bug 654238] [NEW] Unable to connect to remote printer using computer name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups I have 2 Ubuntu Maverick laptops. Laptop-1 has a Samsung printer connected through USB. Laptop-1 allows sharing of this printer. On Laptop-2 I can ping my other laptop using its name: $ ping Laptop-1.local PING Laptop-1.local (192.168.1.37) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from Laptop-1.local (192.168.1.37): icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=65.1 ms So avahi seems to work correctly on both machines. Using the IP address work perfectly: ipp://192.168.1.37:631/printers/Samsung-CLX-216x-Series cupsd is linked to avahi libraries so it is maybe a configuration problem on my side: $ ldd /usr/sbin/cupsd | grep avahi libavahi-common.so.3 = /usr/lib/libavahi-common.so.3 (0x7faeedc1f000) libavahi-client.so.3 = /usr/lib/libavahi-client.so.3 (0x7faeeda0f000) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: cups 1.4.4-6ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: 0085e529b142d05db3fd806c5a9bed9b CheckboxSystem: 2563af6e36b037fc362c650378170735 Date: Sun Oct 3 20:59:43 2010 EcryptfsInUse: Yes Lpstat: device for CLX-2160: ipp://192.168.1.37:631/printers/Samsung-CLX-216x-Series device for CLX-2160-USB: usb://Samsung/CLX-216x%20Series device for color-LaserJet-4600: socket://172.25.140.54 device for HP-LaserJet-4100: socket://ovaron.rezh.ch:9100 device for HP-LaserJet-4100-MFP: ///dev/null MachineType: LENOVO 7663Y2F Papersize: a4 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card PpdFiles: HP-LaserJet-4100: HP LaserJet 4100 Series v.3010.107 Postscript (recommended) CLX-2160-USB: Samsung CLX-2160 Foomatic/foo2qpdl (recommended) color-LaserJet-4600: HP Color LaserJet 4600 v3010.107 Postscript (recommended) CLX-2160: Samsung CLX-2160 Foomatic/foo2qpdl (recommended) ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=UUID=8077df6b-eb0e-40ff-9a4e-acbf5205d4a7 ro bootchart=svg quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: cups dmi.bios.date: 05/11/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7LETC6WW (2.26 ) dmi.board.name: 7663Y2F dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7LETC6WW(2.26):bd05/11/2009:svnLENOVO:pn7663Y2F:pvrThinkPadT61:rvnLENOVO:rn7663Y2F:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 7663Y2F dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T61 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- Unable to connect to remote printer using computer name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/654238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I also upgraded the firmware (using WinXP in VirtualBox) and it seems to have solved the problem (Huawei E220). Now both mass storage and modem seems to work. [Bug 418620] Re: Move to pulse audio is not resetting volume levels at ALSA level
I expect to have the same audio settings before and after boot. So resetting to some default values is not a good idea at all I think. I have a desktop with audio inputs/outputs in front and behind the case. The front levels are separated from the other levels and I can only change those levels using alsamixer. In karmic, the front levels are always set to 0 which is definitely not a good idea as I need to use alsamixer to change the levels. [Bug 444597] Re: After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start.
Mmhhh... I shouldn't have post this as uninstalling upstart, sysv-rc and insserv may break your system. Here is more or less what I did: $ sudo dpkg --purge --force-all upstart sysv-rc insserv Notice the --force-all flag so you should really know what you are doing. sysv-rc complained about some scripts not being able to register (or something else) into the sysv-rc. I don't remember exactly but you should also get the warning. The reconfigure trick suggested in this message did not help so I finally reinstalled or even removed those packages (I don't remember exactly). $ sudo aptitude reinstall the_package or $ sudo dpkg -r --force-all the_package The idea is to completely remove upstart, sysv-rc and insserv from your system and reinstall them. I then had to install sysv-rc manually: $ sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/sysv-rc_2.87dsf-4ubuntu11_all.deb and finally install all the missing dependencies with aptitude again. DO NOT REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM before you get upstart, sysv-rc and insserv installed again. So again, I don't recommend to do this if you don't know what you are doing and if you don't know how to recover your system. Pulseaudio should start on a per-user session. So I don't think the pulseaudio issue is related to this one. -- After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Maybe libdeskbar-tracker should be rebuilt. $ apt-cache policy deskbar-applet deskbar-applet: Installed: 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ dpkg -L deskbar-applet /. /usr /usr/lib /usr/lib/deskbar-applet /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/beagle-static.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/beagle-live.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/calculator.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/desklicious.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/epiphany.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/files.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/gdmactions.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/googlecodesearch.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/googlesearch.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/history.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/iswitch-window.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/mozilla.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/opensearch.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/programs.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/recent.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/templates.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/tomboy.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/twitter.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/web_address.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/wikipedia-suggest.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/yahoo.py /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/evolution.py $ dpkg -L libdeskbar-tracker /. /usr /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/NEWS.gz /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/TODO /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/AUTHORS /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/copyright /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/changelog.gz /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/README.gz /usr/share/doc/libdeskbar-tracker/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/python-support /usr/share/python-support/libdeskbar-tracker.private /usr/lib /usr/lib/deskbar-applet /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible /usr/lib/deskbar-applet/modules-2.20-compatible/tracker-module.py -- libdeskbar-tracker does not install the module at the right place https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

No deskbar maintainer here??? tracker integration in deskbar is broken at the moment and will probably be in Karmic. [Bug 453473] Re: Scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ are not executed
I think this could be related to upstart but I don't know how to debug this. # sudo start rc-sysinit or # sudo start rc doesn't seem to help much here. Any suggestions about how to debug it? [Bug 453473] [NEW] Scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ are not executed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sysvinit Since a few days/weeks, scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ (the default runlevel with upstart if no /etc/inittab is present) are not executed during the boot process. I noticed this because cups does not start anymore (see bug #444597), the cpufreq governor is still performance (ondemand script not executed), the virtualbox kernel modules are not automatically loaded, etc. Starting all these scripts manually works. [Bug 444597] Re: After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start.
I opened a new bug against the sysv-rc package. Bug #453473. -- After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 453483] [NEW] Unlock screen hangs in karmic
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver I have enable auto-login in gdm. A pop-up is displayed after boot to unlock my keyring. If gnome-screensaver locks the screen before I unlock the keyring, typing my password in the unlock dialog makes me not return the my desktop. Instead waiting... is displayed and nothing happens. Switching to vt1 and killing gnome-screensaver allows me to acces my desktop again. I strongly suspect that gnome-screensaver (maybe indirectly) is waiting for the keyring to be opened. [Bug 444597] Re: After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start.
I'm also affected by this bug in karmic since a few days/weeks. I strongly suspect upstart (or another package related to the new boot process). I noticed that some if not all scripts in /etc/rc2.d/ are not executed on boot. ondemand is not executed. The governor is now set to performance instead of ondemand on my laptop. virtualbox-ose is not executed. The virtualbox kernel modules are not loaded at boot time. Starting the scripts manually always works (ondemand, virtualbox-ose, cups, etc). -- After upgrade to karmic cups server do not start. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
