[Bug 1633172] Re: Linux 4.8 as in 16.10 hangs during boot

2017-02-06 Thread Daemon
Update: I've tried to pass some boot options to kernel, from all of them
that I found 2 helped:

acpi=off - Boots but wrong screen resolution.
acpi=noirq - Works and screen resolution correct.

So at the moment I'm staying with acpi=noirq and latest kernel, I hope
this problem will be fixed...

Dylan Borg (borgdylan), thank you for suggestion!

I have AMD platform so no package "intel-microcode" installed, I found
and removed "amd64-microcode" package but still have the same

[Bug 1633172] Re: Linux 4.8 as in 16.10 hangs during boot

2017-02-02 Thread Daemon
I'm unsure that I have same issue but seems that yes.
I'm unable to boot latest kernel after upgrade to 16.10, It's just hangs with
no disk activity, all latest updates where installed using 4.4.0-59 (it boots
properly) but no luck.
I also tried latest nouveau, latest available nvidia driver from driver manager
and latest available nvidia driver from nvidia site (375.26) but still unable
to boot 4.8 kernel :(
Can anyone help or maybe additional info needed ?

[Bug 1604146] [NEW] Rsibreak does not save welcome message skip checkbox [solution]

2016-07-18 Thread Daemon
Public bug reported:

Hello!

Recently I had very annoying bug with rsibreak: welcome message that
shown on first run and have "do not show again" check-box appeared every
time and check-box state wasn't saved in config file.

I have contacted developer on bugs.kde.org (Albert Astals Cid) and after
long search we have found root cause for this issue: package does not
have required dependency in dependency list (frameworkintegration
package).

Can you please add this package (frameworkintegration) to rsibreak
dependencies ?

P.S. This bug affects at least two Ubuntu versions: 14.04 LTS and 16.04
LTS (tested on 2 different computers with all updates installed).

Here is the link to original bug on bugs.kde.org:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362082

With best regards,
Vitaliy Breslavskyi

[Bug 1358846] Re: rsibreak doesnt start on startup

2016-04-15 Thread Daemon
Does somebody have any temporary option to start it in working state ?
Just adding to startup programs starts it in strange state and it doesn't work
until you do something (suspend and resume it trough menu for example).

[Bug 1317449]

2015-06-04 Thread Otto-daemon
First I tried to update some single packages in synaptic as also
described in some comments. In the end I made a mistake and practically
my complete GUI was deinstalled. At best I am a script kid...
After a new install of ubuntu 14.04, the problem was still comparable.
Now I tried the ppa made by Matthias Andree (Comment 119). This worked
very well for me too. Digikam is now stable!
Thanks a lot to Matthias!

[Bug 1385388] Re: iommu dmar pci passthrough regression

2014-10-26 Thread daemon dog
** Description changed:

I'd like to reduce clutter and get the most use out of my existing
infrastructure so I wanted to stop using an external VOIP gateway for my
PSTN lines and use a dedicated card with Asterisk instead via VT-d and
the iommu under Virtualbox 4.1.34. The hardware I have is capable and
the relevant BIOS and kernel options are enabled. I have set
intel_iommu=on and I have also tried using the additional kernel option
  iommu=pt.

After testing I can confirm that this works correctly using linux
  3.2.0-70-generic but not with 3.5.0-54-generic, 3.13.0-37-generic or
3.16.6-031606-generic (from mainline kernel-ppa). I noted that there may
  be a possible solution in
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44881#c49 but that this
  would not be backported.

[Bug 1385388] [NEW] iommu dmar pci passthrough regression

2014-10-24 Thread daemon dog
Public bug reported:

I'd like to reduce clutter and get the most use out of my existing
infrastructure so I wanted to stop using an external VOIP gateway for my
PSTN lines and use a dedicated card with Asterisk instead via VT-d and
the iommu under Virtualbox 4.1.34. The hardware I have is capable and
the relevant BIOS and kernel options are enabled. I have set
intel_iommu=on and I have also tried using the additional kernel option
iommu=pt.

After testing I can confirm that this works correctly using linux
3.2.0-70-generic but not with 3.5.0-54-generic, 3.13.0-37-generic or
3.16.6-031606-generic (from mainline kernel-ppa). I have updated
everything I am comfortable updating including the BIOS but do not want
to push my luck. I noted that there may be a possible solution in
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44881#c49 but that this
would not be backported.

Release: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Linux 3.13.0-37-generic #64~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 24 21:37:11 UTC 2014

The card I'd like to pass to the guest...

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Digium, Inc. Wildcard TDM410 4-port analog
card (rev 11)

I have setup pci-stub with the above and set vboxpci to softdep on it. Not sure
if that's necessary or not as there are no host drivers available.
The error I'm seeing when loading the kernel module in the guest (except when
using kernel 3.2 which works properly). Modprobe hangs in the guest and
eventually causes the guest to freeze.

[Bug 199687] Re: [Intrepid] [Hardy] Asus F5N laptop freezes on restart but will shut down

2009-09-04 Thread X-Daemon
as i wrote earlier if the system is not in the built in sata disk and the disk
removed, the system reboots.
i found, the problem is when the sata disk handled by the ahci driver.
if the sata disk handled by the ata_generic driver, the system reboots.
so if the system loads ata_generic before ahci.
the all_generic_ide=1 parameter important.
i resolve the problem in this way:
# echo ata_generic all_generic_ide=1 >> /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
# update-initramfs -u
i use lenny but maybe it helps

Same on a 701 4G.

Used kernel: 2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP

My workaround is to have "options rfkill default_state=0" in
