[Bug 1328801] Re: [MacBookPro9,2] pacmd list failed suspend resume

2014-06-23 Thread Damien Cassou
I'm not really sure the problem I managed to reproduced on v3.15-rc2 is
the exact same. The symptoms are the same: I can't resume from suspend.
Still, as I don't have sound on v3.15-rc2, I don't think the problems
are related. Please advise on what I can do to help get this bug(s)
fixed.

[Bug 1328801] Re: [MacBookPro9,2] pacmd list failed suspend resume

2014-06-14 Thread Damien Cassou
I have a hard time reproducing again. The problem is twofold:

1. the suspend/resume problem does not always happen
2. this kernel does neither have sound nor wifi which makes it inconvenient to
set as my default kernel

Do you think I could configure wifi and sound on the 3.15rc2 kernel?

[Bug 1328801] Re: [MacBookPro9,2] pacmd list failed suspend resume

2014-06-11 Thread Damien Cassou
Using v3.15-rc2-trusty (3.15.0-031500rc2-generic #201404201435 SMP), I *managed
to reproduce* the suspend/resume problem.
Using this kernel, the wifi is not working: this is problematic because I can't
just report bugs using apport from there. Nevertheless, when the problem
occured again in v3.15-rc2-trusty, I forced shutdown and restart into the
Ubuntu standard kernel 3.13.0-29-generic. At this time, I got plenty (around 6)
Apport windows and I click Report on each.

2014-06-11 Thread Damien Cassou
Please find attached the /proc/acpi/wakeup while in v3.15-rc2-trusty. I
didn't follow the resume-trace debugging procedure as it looks like it
is related to debugging resume while I think my problem is on suspend:
when I close the lid and the light does not blink, I know the computer
won't resume.

If you want me to follow these steps nonetheless, I will.

[Bug 1297961] Re: [Apple Inc. MacBookPro9, 2] suspend/resume failure [non-free: wl]

2014-06-04 Thread Damien Cassou
I have a similar problem on the exact same architecture. Nevertheless, I
don't think my problem depends on how long the computer stays suspended.
From what I can see, as soon as I close the lid I know if resume will
work fine or not:

- if the suspend light starts blinking after a few seconds, the computer will
resume fine when openning the lid
- if the suspend light stays on, I know resume will not work

On this same machine I had no problem with Ubuntu 13.10. It started when
I cleanly installed 14.04.

I reported this problem a lot of time using the message boxes that
appear when I force reboot my laptop (probably around 50 times now as I
always click on Report). Each time I reboot, I can see at least 6 such
message boxes. Nevertheless, I can't find these automatic reports.

[Bug 1312897] [NEW] The activate the window menu binding is reset at each reboot

2014-04-25 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

I would like to unset the activate the window menu key binding once
and for all. I don't need this feature and I need Alt+Space for Emacs.
To do that, I open the unity-control-center, go to the Keyboard pane,
select the Shortcuts tab, view the Windows group of shortcuts, and
press DELETE on the activate the window menu. Everything is great and
I can use Alt+Space in Emacs. But if I reboot my computer, Alt+Space is
bound again to activate the window menu and I have to restart the
process from scratch (which works but is very annoying).

I'm on a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 with a fresh HOME folder.

This bug has been here for years and this is the first time I bother
reporting it. Sorry about that.

Which package are you referring to exactly? As far as I can tell, there
is no acroread package in 12.10 and the adobereader-enu package I see is
at version 9.5.1 (bug still present).

[Bug 994483] [NEW] The spread windows feature [Super+W] makes no difference between windows

2012-05-04 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

When pressing [Super+W] the user is presented with all the windows
currently opened. Each window is easily accessible using mouse or
keyboard arrows. Unfortunately, all windows are by default presented the
same way which make it very difficult to know which window is currently
selected and thus very difficult to navigate with the keyboard.

I think the selected window should be presented differently from others.
This can be easily done by, for example, changing the 'opacity'
preference from the Scale plugin from 100% to 70%. That way, all but the
selected window are presented slightly transparent.

[Bug 654519] [NEW] 'Run' action by default for executable files

2010-10-04 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do

I often want to run script files from gnome-do. The problem is that the
default action is always 'Open' whereas I want 'Run' to be the default.
Steps to reproduce:

1) Create a text file and give it the Execution permission
2) Save it in a place where gnome-do is going to find it
3) Summon Do and type the name of the file
4) Action shown is 'Open', but 'Run' would be better

I guess Do could propose Run by default when the file is executable.

[Bug 540396] [NEW] amarok 2.3.0, empty local collection (0 tracks)

2010-03-17 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Since upgrade to amarok 2.3.0, my collection keeps being empty (even
after full rescan). This only happens if using the embedded database:
using mysql-server works fine.

I use the following repository: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-
ppa/backports/ubuntu karmic main

This report might be similar to bug #523269 but previous version was
working fine for me.

This report is similar to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230916

[Bug 373690] [NEW] Synaptic touchpad very slow after suspend/resume

2009-05-08 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Often, when I resume the computer after a suspend, my mouse cursor
(moved using the touchpad) doesn't react properly. Using an USB mouse
solves the problem. The cursor is very slow and some click events are
lost.

I can reproduce if necessary.

[Bug 353712] [NEW] [Jaunty] Latest update (1:2.26.0-0ubuntu5) causes problems with dual screens

2009-04-02 Thread Damien Cassou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Since the update of April 1st, the dual screen support is buggy (it
worked fine yesterday morning and the days before).

- The Gnome panel is now on the laptop screen but it was on the main
screen before (which I prefered).

- Clicking on the maximize button of a window in the main screen does
not maximize it as expected (in fact, it does maximize vertically but
not horizontally): see attached screenshot.
