[Bug 730929] Re: ubuntuone-syncdaemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_typelib_get_dir_entry_by_gtype()

2011-03-08 Thread Dani Alonso
I have downloaded previous version of gir1.2-unity-3.0
(http://launchpadlibrarian.net/65084967/gir1.2-unity-3.0_3.4.6-0ubuntu1_i386.deb)
and issued a "sudo dpkg -i gir1.2-unity-3.0_3.4.6-0ubuntu1_i386.deb".

It automatically fixes the issue without even having to restart.

I would like to add that this problems also makes nautilus totally
irresponsive. The Ubuntu One Control Panel shows the message "File Sync

[Bug 241753] Re: uvcvideo module randomly fails to load

2010-04-12 Thread Dani Alonso
I'm having this same problem in my Vaio, but manually
unloading/reloading the uvcvideo does not fix the problem.

The webcam was working in Karmic, not with the stock uvcvideo modules,
but with a self-compiled drivers for uvcvideo donwloaded from upstream
svn.

Unfortunately, selfcompiling the last svn modules does not fix this
issue in Lucid.

[Bug 444880] [NEW] wrong pulseaudio media role

2009-10-06 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

It seems that a commit from March, 8th setted the default pulseaudio
media role for Empathy to be that of "phone".

This seems reasonable during voip calls so it stops any media player
actually playing, but it turns out that even notifications about just
received chat messages are being tagged the same way, and so
continuously "breaking" the media player output.

This is the reference for the culprit:

http://mail.gnome.org/archives/svn-commits-list/2009-March/msg02455.html

When no in a voip call, it should be set to "event" rather than "phone".

2009-10-05 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

I have a fresh installation of Karmic Alpha-6 that I have been updating.
Spanish is selected as language, so all strings were being shown in
spanish, until last update. Now I have a mixture of english and spanish
strings in the menus. The menu headers are in english, submenus some are
in english, some in spanish. Spanish is still the language setted in the

[Bug 37163] Re: Ipods react badly to checks for EFI partition tables

2009-08-20 Thread Dani Alonso
Hi, I'm having again this bug with the 2.6.28-15 kernel image in Jaunty.

It's a severe bug: At first I thought it was the harddisk of the iPod
failing, so I tried to reformat it. This was fatal, obviously, and
rendered the harddisk to the trashcan. After getting my hands at a new
harddisk, hoping to it to work I discovered it was working in windows
but not in Linux for the same reason that the first one.

Fortunately, this time I did not reformat the harddisk, but began
looking for other people having this issue. This is how I got here.

[Bug 337016] Re: I can select an spanish keyboard but it is ignored

2009-03-17 Thread Dani Alonso
I have already attached all requested info, why is the bug still
Incomplete, then?

One more detail, it seems that other Spanish layouts (latinamerican
layouts) work well. It's only the Spanish from Spain layout that does
not work as expected, in none of its variants. Using a latinamerican
layout is not an option given that in Spain coexist 3 different
languages from castillian with some regional characters not available in
latinamerican layouts.

It's a serious bug.

How can I verify whether the spanish layout is being deployed at all? It
seems as if the layout not being included in the package.

Without it, running on batteries:

[Bug 200192] Re: second copy action to ftp mounted device kills nautilus

2008-03-10 Thread Dani Alonso
Pedro,

nautilus doesn't crash, it simply stalls forever, neither finishing the
first copy operation nor starting the second one.

Because of not crashing, I have always to kill it, it is not going to
report an automatic crash report.

[Bug 200192] [NEW] second copy action to ftp mounted device kills nautilus

2008-03-09 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu hardy (development branch)"

nautilus 1:2.21.92svn20080303-0ubuntu2
gvfs 0.1.11svn20080307-0ubuntu1

Having started a one file copy action with destination a gvfs mounted
ftp device, that is halfway, if I start a second copy action with same
destination device, a new copy procedure is added to the copy dialog
window in nautilus, but then nautilus stops, killall -9 nautilus being
the only way to restart nautilus.

I expect the second copy action to be put in the cue, and whether be run
concurrently with the first one, or in a waiting state until the second
one finishes.

Public bug reported:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu

pulseaudio 0.9.9-1ubuntu2

When, having the PCM slider at maximum volume, I expect that moving the
master slider from maximum to minimum is going to proportionally reduce
the volume, until near the minimum I'm not going to listen any output.

However, in my computer is happening that more or less, at two thirds

One more comment. From what I understand by reading the gnome developer
docs, gnome_master_client () only works if the program calls
gnome_program_init (), but from the Changelog you can read that this
call was dropped on 2007-08-03.

[Bug 57872] Re: regression: pressing power button no longer brings up logout dialog

2008-03-05 Thread Dani Alonso
Following my previous comment, I have downloaded the source package for
gnome-power-manager, compiled with --enable-debug=yes.

Now, when I press the power button it outputs the following:

(gnome-power-manager:3857): GnomeUI-CRITICAL **:
gnome_client_request_save: assertion `client != NULL' failed

So it seems that the culprit is that gnome_master_client () is returning
NULL.

[Bug 57872] Re: regression: pressing power button no longer brings up logout dialog

2008-03-04 Thread Dani Alonso
May it be that gnome-power-manager is not connected to the session
manager so the gnome_master_client() call in the following code of gpm-
manager.c fails:

gnome_client_request_save (gnome_master_client (),
   GNOME_SAVE_GLOBAL,
   TRUE, GNOME_INTERACT_ANY, FALSE,
TRUE);

Some time ago, I opened another bug (188174) related to some CLI
commands related to session management not working in my system. For
example, "gnome-session-remove --list" stalls without giving any output.
Could it have any relationship with this bug? Or may they be two
different simptoms of the very same problem?

$ gconftool-2 --get /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/power -->
"interactive"

The interesting thing is that if I change to anything different, for
example, "suspend" then it always works. So gnome-power-manager is
really receiving the button press, but someway it doesn't know how to
call the gnome logout dialog.

If bluetooth-sendto is installed in the system, nautilus-sendto tries to
use bluetooth-sendto using a "--dest" commandline option, which is not

This is in hardy with nautilus-sendto-0.13.2-0ubuntu1 and bluez-

[Bug 195580] [NEW] nautilus-sendto always uses first entry in the combo box

2008-02-25 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-sendto

Detected in hardy with last available version (0.13.2-0ubuntu1)

Please follow this steps in order to reproduce:

1. Select a file from a windows
2. Choose "send to..." from context menu
3. Select "send as e-mail with evolution"
4. Type any text in order to search among evolution contacts. In order to
reproduce the bug you need to type a text returning more than one entry in the
selection combo box.
5. Select any entry but the first one, the "send to" text field is going to
default to the first entry with independence of the entry selected by the user
in teh combo.
6. Try to type the full email, different from the first entry: no way, the
evolution window is going to default to the first entry in the combo.

I expect two things:

1. The "send to" text entry should track the selection in the combo box.
2. The evolution window should inherit the contact previousy selected.

Sorry, I found the cause of the problem, I didn't replaced the "gutsy"

But now how can I get a gdb backtrace if the program is not crashing. It
simply stalls without any output.

Instead of a backtrace, I have run it under strace and the output shows
it stalling at a poll operation, untill I kill it with ^C

I'm attaching the output of "strace gnome-session-remove --list".

[Bug 188735] Re: [hardy] nautilus shows strange characters

2008-02-04 Thread Dani Alonso
Yes of course. This bug is related to bug 188734.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Insert a protected memory-card in a card reader. In my case it was a SD card
in my laptop's internal reader. The card should be locked in order to not allow
deletion of files.
2) Browse the contents of the card from a natilus window.
3) Try to move any file (DEL key) to the trash.

Nautilus will then warn against moving to the trash with the dialog
shown in the attached screenshot.

[Bug 188734] [NEW] hardy: weird behaviour in nautilus when trying to delete a file from a protected removable SD card

2008-02-03 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is in hardy updated to last nautilus version.

Usually, if i insert a SD card in my laptop's internal card reader and
try to delete any file, nautilus moves it silently to the trascan.

However, If by error the inserted card is protected, nautilus warns
against it displaying that the file cannot be moved to the trash.
Obvious because a move action involves a delete action and the card is
protected son no delete is possible.

Anyway the message dialog has to problems, the first one being that it
show two buttons asking to the user if the file should be deleted, or
all selected files in protected media should be deleted. Obviously, if
the move to trash action could not be done because of the protection,
the deletion is also being impossible to do.

[Bug 186196] [NEW] missing gnome-mount properties page

2008-01-26 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

If I select the properties of a removable drive icon, there's no more
that properties page related to the mount point. Nevertheless it seems
that the gnome-mount package is including it in:

/usr/share/gnome-mount/gnome-mount-properties.glade

So why is it not showing in the properties of the drive?

[Bug 185964] [NEW] gvs-enabled version removable devices regressions

2008-01-25 Thread Dani Alonso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Some regressions when dealing with removable drives:

1) When inserting the drive it opens not one but two windows showing the
contents. Then gnome-mount crashes.

2) The media name is not matching the mount name I gave to the the
removable drive. For example if I plug my external usb drive, the Places
menu shows "Mediaplayer" for the drive as I named it, but the nautilus
icon in the desktop and everywhere is showing a simple name "250.1 GB
Media".

3) The properties window does not have anymore a tab for manually
changing the name of the mount point.

[Bug 184062] Re: f-spot lost its export options

2008-01-19 Thread Dani Alonso
This only appeared when updating to 0.4.1-4ubuntu2. In previous versions
I had all options though the flickr export made f-spot to crash
everytime.

No fix in disabling and enabling again.

But running from the terminal gave this warning message:

"There's (maybe) something wrong with some of the installed extensions.
You can try removing the directory addin-db-000 from ~/.gnome2/f-spot/"

I had no addin-db-000 inside f-spot directory, but adding-db-001. Nor
moving this directory aside not renaming it do addin-db-000 fixed the
problem. Moreover, f-spot automatically creates a new adding-db-001
directory and warns against the nonexistent addin-db-000.

No luck.
