[Bug 1536353] Re: [regression] Printer drivers install is broken as lsb package is not available anymore

2016-05-06 Thread Daniel Faulkner
The official Epson printer drivers (for a model XP-322) installed
correctly, but all prints stopped with the status "Filter failed". This
occurs with both the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr (1.6.5-1lsb3.2) and
epson-inkjet-printer-escpr (1.4.1-1lsb3.2) drivers from the Epson
website and those installed automatically by the Ubuntu printers utility
on Ubuntu version 16.04.

The driver printer-driver-escpr from the universe packages does however work
fine.
, if possible, changing the default printer driver in the printers utility
would prevent more people being affected if the official Epson drivers aren't
going to be fixed soon.

[Bug 684559] Re: glhack has no write permission for /var/games/glhack

I have confirmed the bug as I am also experiencing this bug. Identical message

[Bug 687325] Re: iMac 20 2007 dpkg-reconfigure xserver-org does nothing

2010-12-08 Thread Daniel Faulkner
I believe there is a typo in your description and title and you mean
xserver-xorg (as xserver-org doesn't exist in ubuntu).
Regarding the lack of configuration options I believe this was done on purpose
as the newer xserver's auto-detect the hardware when you start the xserver. If
you need to change the settings you may find you now have to edit the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf with the settings you need. If you have made some changes to
your computer that has caused xorg to stop working and there is a xorg.conf
file present first try renaming the file so the xserver starts with the default
automatically detected settings.

[Bug 685423] Re: Empty entry? Vibora

2010-12-07 Thread Daniel Faulkner
Could you please elaborate on what the issue is your reporting? There
doesn't appear to be a package called vibora in any version of ubuntu
when I searched packages.ubuntu.com.

However the terminal says that the program 'vibora' is part of the ggz-
python-games package. If you are looking to install the program you
should try installing ggz-python-games. If the problem is with the
program or the shortcuts created by the program this bug should be
changed to affect ggz-python-games instead of the software-centre.

[Bug 606212] [NEW] Description contains spelling and grammar mistakes

2010-07-16 Thread Daniel Faulkner
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pysdm

The description in Maverick's software centre contains both a spelling
mistake/typo and confusing grammar.
PySDM is a PyGTK Storage Device Manager that allows full customization of hard
disk mountpoints whitout manually access to fstab. It also allows the creation
of udev rules for dynamic configuration of storage devices

This same description with the same mistakes is also used on the projects
website. I would suggest it should at least be reworded/fixed to something like:
PySDM is a PyGTK Storage Device Manager that allows full customization of hard
disk mount points without the need to manually edit fstab. It also allows the
creation of udev rules for dynamic configuration of storage devices.

However a better more complete rewrite of the description maybe required
to make the softwares description make more sense to people unfamiliar
with fstab and partition mounting principles eg.

Storage Device Manager allows modifications to how storage devices are mounted
and displayed. Including rules for how removable devices should be setup.
Storage Device Manager will detect your partitions and devices allowing you to
change device names, permissions and mounting behaviour.

Those are just some suggestions of alternative descriptions which maybe
more suitable.

[Bug 575106] Re: Just a spelling mistake

2010-05-18 Thread Daniel Faulkner
This is the correct place to file bugs against emesene. It's perfectly
fine to file spelling mistakes in launchpad. It's better to report a bug
(however minor) and have it fixed than to give the wrong impression
about the level of quality in ubuntu.

Thank you for reporting this bug and feel welcome to submit more reports
if you find other unreported bugs.

I will try and confirm this (if no one else does) when I get a chance
and I'm on my home computer.

[Bug 575975] Re: Unable to launch some Gnome games in 10.04 LTS

2010-05-07 Thread Daniel Faulkner
You can get an idea of what was installed in earlier releases by going
to http://packages.ubuntu.com and searching for the gnome-games package.
The description and the dependancies list the games that are normally
installed with that version of ubuntu.

I suspect in your case the issue was that when upgrading between
releases at some point the menu items weren't updated. Unfortunatly as
you performed multiple upgrades I'm not sure which version you were
upgrading to when this happened, assuming you didn't check between
upgrades.

Thank you for adding this extra information to the bug report as I'm
sure it will help to diagnose it further.

Good day/night to you also.

I believe this was labeled as Incomplete accidently. The comments suggest that
this bug is due to python-libmimic not being in emesene's dependencies. This is

Can you copy the confirm if the error you are getting is the same as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/emesene/+bug/479480

I suspect this error is a duplicate of bug 479480, try installing
python-libmimic and if that fixes the error message you are experiencing
please mark this bug as a duplicate.

[Bug 468413] Re: Radeon module loaded before agpgart

2010-01-09 Thread Daniel Faulkner
I'm also experiencing the same issue with the following messages in xorg.0.log:
RADEON(0): [agp] AGP not available
RADEON(0): [agp] AGP failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI.
RADEON(0): [agp] You may want to make sure the agpgart kernel module is loaded
before the radeon kernel module.

I found that enabling the Control + Alt + Backspace option to restart
the X server followed by pressing Control + Alt + Backspace allowed me
to log back into Ubuntu with 3D acceleration working second time round.
As this requires logging in twice I will probably try the other work
arounds mentioned above but a proper fix would be appreciated.

[Bug 114124] Re: Xubuntu 7.04 xserver crashes when launching terminal

2007-05-19 Thread Daniel Faulkner
This also effected me using QEMU and installing from the alternate cd
image for feisty (i386) onto a hard drive image. So could be tested on
a vitual machine by the person who tries to fix this bug.

To reproduce:
(Opt install qemu)
Install from alternate CD (not sure if this is the same with the desktop cd)
xubuntu.
Open a terminal from the menu.
X will crash and restart bringing you back to the x login prompt.

2007-05-19 Thread Daniel Faulkner
Can reproduce and doesn't look isolated to one person from the comments
so setting to confirmed. More info may be needed though to fix this bug.

** Changed in: xfce4-terminal (Ubuntu)

[Bug 44748] Re: wengophone crash on amd64

2006-11-06 Thread Daniel Faulkner
I've got the same problem, with my crash-file looking very similar to
the previous persons. (I've included the crash file generated in case it
helps, it also shows the similarities with the previous poster to
suggest this isn't a seperate issue)

Looks like this should be confirmed, as multiple people have experienced
this problem and it can be re-produced by starting wengophone and trying
to logon to the service.

I'm using an nForce chipset for the sound (no webcam plugged in).

[Bug 44748] Re: wengophone crash on amd64

2006-11-06 Thread Daniel Faulkner
I can re-produce this bug on a fairly clean install of Edgy 6.10 AMD64 ubuntu.
The process to reproduce is to: Install wengophone from synaptic, run
wengophone and try to login (resulting in the crash).
