[Bug 1970420] [NEW] Synaptic wont launch after installing software from the software boutique
Public bug reported: After a fresh installation of Ubuntu Mate 22.04 I installed software from the software boutique. After the software installation was complete I closed the welcome screen. I then went to launch the Synaptics package manager via the menu, it requested my elevated password, takes the password successfully and never launches. Tried multiple times to no avail. Only a reboot would solve the issue. Expected: - For one of the menu items to display Show in Folder. Clicking on this would open up a new folder window showing the folder that the search item resides in. In reality: -There is no such menu item. This bug is slightly aggravating in normal use. You may be searching for a folder but may only remember the name of a file that is in it. Or there maybe files that you want that are located close to the file you are searching for (maybe searching for a config file and get the wrong file but for the right application). I've narrowed the root of this bug down to the linkify function in gwibber/microblog/util/__init__.py I'm having trouble editing it though, even if I completely delete the function, when I run gwibber again links still keep appearing. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: checkbox When I start System Testing (/usr/bin/checkbox-gtk and also System-Administration menu), it shows me a screen, I click next, and then the activity bar dialog comes up and it just stays like that continuously. I can still move the main window around and resize it, but I can't close it. If I may be presumptive, I think the problem lies with permissions. When I click next, a taskbar item comes up displaying Starting Administrative... but then quickly closes. I think the system realises that as a Guest account I don't have authorisation to run this operation, but instead of quitting outright or showing up an Administrative password dialogue, it just hangs continuously, quitting part of the application but leaving the rest running. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Trying to upgrade Kubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10. It looks like the deb files are unavailable on the server (but instead there are zipped tar files).
