[Bug 2062173] Re: Apparmor denies updating namespace with ecryptfs
Also seen on Ubuntu 20.04.6 with latest/stable: 123.0.6312.122 2024-04-15 (2821) 168MB chromium snap. Confirming that if I manually apply the patch given in https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/13857 the issue is fixed. But then when I refreshed chromium to latest/stable: 124.0.6367.60 2024-04-19 (2828) 169MB my patch got stepped on and I needed to reapply it. Don't know when the fix is expected to be incorporated in a snap refresh but until then it's easy enough to manually take care of. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2062173 Title: Apparmor denies updating namespace with ecryptfs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/2062173/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1833376] [NEW] Trying to Install Lubuntu 18.04 over hosed-up 16.04 on 32G thumb drive
Public bug reported: Lubuntu 16.04 worked fine for long time (12.9GB FAT32 in front for data to be accessible to Windows 7, then 16.89GB EXT4 Extended with 16GB Lubuntu 16.04 and 1GB Swap). Hadn't used or updated in quite a while so tried to install updates (to 16.04). Updates required reboot - but somehow it locked up. Only way to get it started again was to kill power and reboot - choosing thumb drive in boot loader. Every attempt gave Ubuntu options - I selected current Ubuntu and sometime the other baseline ubuntu options). Many attempts to fix but nothing worked. Finally got 18.04 installer download on disc and tried to install to thumb (that was this time). Instructions didn't seem to follow correctly = it asked if I wanted to re-partition - I said no - then when I clicked to install I was asked if I wanted to move the partitions with a picture of partitions. I said no again - but it seems like it tried to split the Lubuntu partition into two smaller partitions (at least that what it has now - so if that's what it did of course there probably wasn't room to install 18.04). +++ I will attempt to repartition the thumb myself (GPartEd) and then try again to load 18.04. [Bug 658139] Re: X server crashes shortly after logging in
I'm having the same issue here. At first I thought it was MythTV related, but on further investigation (and crashes without myth running), it appears to be either driver or Xorg related. [Bug 660833] Re: Mythfrontend and Xorg crash/restart back to login screen when starting playback/LiveTV
Same issue here, although I'm no longer certain the problem is with mythtv itself. I've had this crash occur at least once while looking through the system settings from the desktop without mythfrontend running, once while in the mythfrontend settings, as well as several times during playback. It is only when the crash occurs during playback that I see a general protection fault against the mythfrontend, I cannot reproduce this issue reliably, however in general it appears to happen about once every 60-90 minutes after a clean start, although it will repeat more often than that if I log back in but do not restart after the first crash. In the case where the crash (back to the login screen) occurred while in the mythfrontend settings, syslog included "Nov 14 14:08:17 myth-tv init: mythtv-backend main process (1829) killed by TERM signal" In the case where it crashes during playback, dmesg includes: "[14753.621610] mythfrontend.re[11752] general protection ip:7f658c163445 sp:7f656cad5020 error:0 in libc-2.12.1.so[7f658c12a000+17a000]" and mythfrontend.log includes: ∘ : Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :0.0. ∘ : Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0. I've tried disabling XvMC by removing /etc/X11/XvMCConfig to no effect. I've tried switching to the "nv" driver, however X then fails to start at a resolution supported by my TV (46" LCD), so this doesn't appear to be a usable workaround for me. -- Mythfrontend and Xorg crash/restart back to login screen when starting playback/LiveTV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Any more advice on this? I can use the device via VLC using ALSA, but can't use Pulseaudio (eg, it does not appear on Sound Preferences and I can't watch Youtube vids). It is not relavant at all now that Karmic is in beta release. It of course is a valid to the extent that some poople like to use acrobat reader. Opposite to this one: > http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/karmic/partner/binary-amd64/Packages That is almost useless. I double checked the links - the first one says it is a Karmic repository, but it is in fact a Jaunty package as per the description, unless of course it actually is verifiable as a valid solution, and if it is, then it mighyt be the right suggestion. In generalities though, it is improper to suggest putting something up saying it is for a specific version of Ubuntu where it clearly states that it may not be. That could lead to a broken box. I suspect I had a 64 bit reader for some time when I ran 64 bit (and I have been 64 bit on Ubuntu since 5/2008) but my memory is a bit fading. Of course, should a bona fide verifiable link to "acroread" exist then maybe it's a valid bug. But if even so, it should be filed "wishlist" just on the general principle that the original filer of the bug is really asking that he wishes acroread to be in Karmic, not that it is an omission to not have it yet. -- thanks for letting me change the magnetic patterns on your hard disk. -- Karmic 64 bit: Package acroread is missing from partner repo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 437566] Re: Karmic 64 bit: Package acroread is missing from partner repo
OK. A couple of things: 1) A partner repository cannot exist on a beta product until release, as far as my understanding of the release process. I could be wrong. 2) a PPA may exist, but unlikely as Adobe isn't a GPL product. 3) We are still unaware of a roadmap for Acrobat for Karmic, since it still is in beta, 32 bit support for a 64 bit architecture is doable via ia32-libs support. (Googleearth etc.) Not optimal, but it works. Apparently, newer versions of "acroread" do support native 64 bit. This is preferred. I have done a few google searches and none seem accurate enough to point me to a repository that has it. One suggestion was to install a deb. That may work, but require a "force-architecture" switch to get the deb to install (exact error message indicates basically wrong architecture). Undesirable for several reasons. Conclusion - I'd mark the bug as "invalid" but we need a better roadmap, or a reason until Karmic is officially released. Once Karmic is out of beta, we can address that issue. -- Karmic 64 bit: Package acroread is missing from partner repo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I noticed this fairly right away after getting the laptop last month and putting 8.10 (64 bit) on it. Applications that depend heavily on 3D function poorly, or are not usable because of excessive bleed through and flickering on the display. For instance, googleearth and celestia are practically unusable. Another application that I use frequently is stellarium (i keep up with the SVN development) and although the appication is somewhat usable, much of the text is garbled on the display, which is not the case with the same code on my desktop, which uses the nvidia driver. Also I notice some problems with compiz and KDE4 that might be display related - it's caused me to revert back to gnome. If you see the attachment, check out the lower part of the screen. Much of the text that is supposed to be there (status related stuff, FPS, that sort of thing, is not readable. I inquired on the stellarium public mailing list and they suggested the problem may be related to the display driver. Other artifacts come through, for instance, when running mplayer, OK unless I add -vo ogl2 to the command line which is supposed to "render" ? the movie using opengl2. The movie is always getting bleedthrough from the controlling terminal, and this goes away if I omit that parameter. There is also tremendous bleedthrough when running stellarium - it settles down, but one can see the desktop flickering, alternating between it and the stellarium startup screen while stellarium starts up. If there are tweaks I'd appreciate some hints. This is an updated new Intrepid install with an unmodified xorg.conf - i.e., whatever was automagically configured during the initial install process. ** Attachment added: "stellarium-000.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21348433/stellarium-000.png -- [i945GM] flicker boxes, rendering artifacts on gl applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 257464] [NEW] Relocation error in libssl.so.0.9.8
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libssl0.9.8 Recently, I've been getting this error whenever I try to do an svn up or run programs that depend on libssl (such as stellarium) stellarium: relocation error: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: symbol AVP_aes_192_cbc, version OPENSSL_0.9.8 not defined in file libcrypto.so.0.9.8 with link timereference The same error output is shown on terminal whenever I try and run an svn up to update stellarium. Maybe. I've been having some bizarre lockups and things like multiple applications segfaulting at the same time followed by a complete freeze. Or it could be hardware issues that I'm having. I guess I'll have to try debian again. I just dont want to lose the setups I've already got. But this particular issue only has happened twice, and it seems to be a possibly related side effect of the whole udev & hal subsystems coming down (the part that allows me to mount a usb stick, or automatically pops up a filesystem browser when I insert a usb stick or a CF card). When that happens, nothing but a reboot will bring things back up to the point I can mount things. I had this happen in my prior install (Debian Lenny) on an old (since replaced) 386 athlon box, and I had to reboot to get the usb stuff to load again, but Debian doesn't do (or didn't then) anything with consolekit. And I can't see the advantage of doing things this way. What really is this freedesktop.org stuff? [Bug 242186] Re: Console kit deamon can't acquire freedesktop.org
Well, this message went away for sometime, as i was busily pursuing other problems, mostly lockups that were heat related. I also managed to have to install a lot of packages that I had missing md5sums for (unrelated, of course, but what the hey) as well as to try and get my nvidia back (back, using 173.12 but it's having trouble starting on boot) and then I noticed my log file filling up in the same fashion. Looks like it's been printing the same error message that it was doing before. And I don't have any way for the system to recognize USB events - like stick or mp3 players being plugged in. I booted up in Gnome when I was trying to get the nvidia to work and I distinctly remember it saying "unable to initialize HAL" or something to that effect. I'm afraid to reboot now (that has caused the issue to go away, at least for a while) because it may be difficult to get my desktop acceleration back. But it also seems I'll have to reboot soon because I can't get to my usb sticks either. And my syslog is 6 megs and growing. :( -- Console kit deamon can't acquire freedesktop.org https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 238674] [NEW] Distortions / artifacts on screen after running 3D apps
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-new I'm running Hardy 64 bit, ubuntu install but with KDE installed. My system has an ECS Mainboard 6100-pn-m2 with the nforce 430 chipset and an embedded nVidia 6100 graphics adapter. I have installed nvidia-glx-new (aka 169.12) but the problem exists also in nvidia-glx, although, if anything, the problem is made worse in nvidia-glx-new. The basic problem I have is that the screen shows artifacts & damage soon after a GL program is run (I've tried compiz, stellarium, and even glxgears exhibits this effect). The damage usually means that icons on the left of the screen begin to disappear, and kicker icons turn into solid green colors. Text in konsoles/irc/gmail etc., get turned into solid block lines. Occasionally the whole server locks up making all sorts of wavy lines all over the screen - at this point I have to hard reboot the PC. I've installed the nvidia driver via module-assistant auto-install and aptitude install nvidia-glx-new (after first installing nvidia-glx, and not getting the expected behavior). Additionally, while I can get compiz to work, it makes the text consoles unusable and I can't play video at all - that results in a green screen in vlc/gxine/mplayer. Once I restart X in regular 2D mode, everything works, until I try a 3D app again. Furthermore this looks like a packaging bug, but not sure. In /usr/lib/nvidia and /usr/lib32/nvidia I see this: total 1068 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 519408 2008-04-05 15:05 libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2008-05-23 09:12 libGL.so.1.xlibmesa -> libGL.so.1.2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 547015 2008-04-15 10:56 libglx.so.xserver-xorg-core -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 5064 2008-06-02 11:00 tls_test -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4920 2008-06-02 11:00 tls_test_dso.so [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ That second line is a broken symlink. [Bug 219808] Re: [Hardy] [Compiz] Using "Group and Tab Windows" with more than one group causes hangs/freezes
Hey emulashun (and others) Did you ever solve the problem? I too have an amd64 system (just got it two weeks ago). It is an ECS 6100-pm-m2 low-cost board with a dual core 5200 AMD 64, 2 megs of crucial ballistix. I'm running Hardy Heron and the nvidia 169.12 driver, installed from the repositories, using module-assistant. I'm getting some random freezes in 3D apps like stellarium (more so in the 0.10 development stuff from svn than the 0.9.1 that's in the repositories, and see some WAITs in my xorg.0.log. The freezes usually go away after a time, but sometime I have to quit the application. But what's more disconcerting is that compiz (and it may be the driver) cause so many screen distortions (the text in windows get replaced with black streaks) that I'll eventually kill X or log out just to make my session usable again. Feisty: I can remove the applet from the panel or edit the data as described above, but the applet does not do what it is supposed to do: display stock quotes; the appearance of the applet when the menu is closed (and/or when I left-click) does not change from the default installation images. Re: [Bug 89129] Re: crashes during update process
Mike, Sorry about the short detailI was notified that there were updates available, and while using the automated process it crashed and generated the report. I did not use the Package manager or apt-get. After restarting the system twice, the automated process step through a new upgrade process I've never seen using Ubuntu. Even though there were errors during that process (watching the terminal window) after reboot, each update process now works without generating an error.
