[Bug 1653828] [NEW] Grammatical mistake in package description
Public bug reported: This is an excerpt from the description of the package: The use of this driver is discouraged if your hw is new enough (ca. 2007 and newer). You can try uninstalling this driver and let the server use it's builtin modesetting driver instead. Obviously, "it's" should be "its"; "builtin" also should be "built-in", and "hw" probably should be all caps ("HW"). ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653828 Title: Grammatical mistake in package description To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1653828/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1068466] Re: none of the emulators start, even with ROMS
Same here, Ubuntu 13.10. I am writing this in the vain hope that somebody reads it, but I don't have much hope for a fix. I don't think there is a maintainer in Ubuntu for this package, and in Debian, 12 out of 13 bugs opened against vice are still open. The title of one of those is vice package maintainer not checking e-mail. :-D I tried the package in Vice, which at least starts OK, but true disk emulation does not work, nor do keyset joysticks. I cannot open bugs for those issues because I cannot be sure it is not because of using a package from a different release, so no C64 games for me. :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068466 Title: none of the emulators start, even with ROMS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vice/+bug/1068466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1114614] [NEW] Lock screen action should also turn the screen off
Public bug reported: If the user locks the screen via the Lock Screen action (Ctrl + Alt + L), the screen should be turned off. What happens now is that the screen goes black, but the backlight remains on, consuming the battery and serving as an unnecessary light source. Only after the number of minutes specified in the Brightness and Lock settings panel elapse is the screen turned off. I see no reason why this should be like this: the Turn screen off when inactive for: X minutes setting is, I guess, there to recognize the situation when the user forgets to log out / put the machine to sleep when he leaves it. However, when the user locks the screen, it is, in effect, a way to tell the OS I'll be inactive. So, it would only make sense if the screen was turned off. [Bug 1029583] [NEW] Dell Inspiron 1420 without battery: processor.ignore_ppc does nothing
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Insprion 1420 (Core 2 Duo @ 1.8GHz), and the battery has recently died. Because of this, the CPUs have been downclocked to the minimum frequency, 800 MHz. I have tried the workaround described in bug #706089 (Frequency scaling doesn't work in current kernels) and on various pages around the web, namely, adding the processor.ignore_ppc=1 directive to grub. However, it does not have any effect: my CPUs are still running at 800 MHz. The bios limits (/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/bios_limit) are set to 1801000, so that should not be a problem. --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. [Bug 1024663] [NEW] Custom regional formats
Public bug reported: Regional formats should be customizable. Currently the user is capable of selecting a locale, and that locale will determine how dates are displayed, the first day of the week, etc. However, it is not possible to override any of these choices -- it's a 'take it or leave it' decision. There are several problems with that: 1. If the system language is English, and I set the RF to Hungarian, the names of months, days will be Hungarian, while the rest of the interface remains English, which is confusing. 2. RF settings apply to the command line too; once again, introducing a different date format, names of days and months, which may cause scripts to stop working. That may be a problem for developers (or for users who download scripts from a developer's page, which, with smartphones, Calibre, etc., is not so uncommon as someone might think). The settings for the GUI and the command line should be distinct. 3. Very often one would like to change just one setting (A4 paper size for printing, Monday as the first day of the week, etc.), which is currently not possible. I understand there was a similar bug, number 40669. However, the fix only added the Regional Formats tab, and ignored part of the problem of the reporter: it's impossible to configure a system that uses English GUI strings and the rest in native format. This functionality has been available in Windows and KDE forever. Ubuntu has parted ways with Gnome with regard to the DE, and it would be very welcome if we could also say goodbye to the Gnome mindset and actually give some power to the user. [Bug 1019816] [NEW] dash in Unity 2D shows icons and responds to typing very slowly
Public bug reported: How to reproduce: 1. Press Super+A to bring up the dash (applications lense) 2. Type, say, firef 3. Press ESC to clear the Search Applications field 4. Press ESC to exit the dash 5. Press Super+A to bring up the dash again What happens: After 1. The dash appears, the applications arranged in the grid as they should, but without any icons. After ~5 seconds, the icons appear. After 2. The user have to wait about 5 seconds until the application list is filtered After 3. The user have to wait yet another 5 seconds until the filter is removed from the lense After 4. Once again, it takes about 5 seconds for the dash to disappear After 5. Starting the dash a second time, the icons show right away. What should happen: 1-5. should happen instantaneously. What I've described may well be the result of two separate bugs (one for the icons, one for the rest); however, I don't think I am the one to decide that. [Bug 662071] [NEW] Firefox drawing problems after page up/page down with Kwin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox (Page here refers to a pageful of content displayed in the viewport, NOT an html page) I am using Kubuntu 10.10, and when Kwin desktop effects are enabled, Firefox fails to draw the page content correctly after a page down/page up command: artifacts of the previous page remain on the screen. The extent to which the old content remains varies; it can be a few pixels- wide line, or the whole previous page. The behavior is irrespective of whether the paging command is activated via the keyboard or clicking on the scrollbar. The cursor keys, or dragging the scrollbar does not seem to trigger the problem; however, maybe it is just that it is more difficult to spot. The problem does not appear if Kwin compositioning is switched off. However, even with compositioning turned on, only Firefox 3.6 shows this kind of behavior; other applications, including Firefox 4.0 beta are unaffected. The tab bar stops reacting to mouse clicks, though ctrl-tab works. Even if I close the window, the process will not stop, I have to kill it manually. Then, if I restart Firefox, the problem does not go away: the tabs remain unreponsive, pages do not load, etc. As far as I know, the only cure is to create a new profile, which is a pain. I am using 9.10. Package version: 3.6.2~hg20100218r33594+nobinonly-0ubuntu2~umd1~karmic. However, it has happened with earlier versions as well. Please let me know what additional information you need. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox messes up profile, cannot click tabs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569466 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 243856] Re: Flash under Firefox sometimes loses keyboard events
Hyung JIn Han: I am using uim, and still I am experiencing this problem, so I guess it's not scim-related. I have not tried without uim, so it is possible that there is no problem without any IME, but I don't know. Still, Chrome doesn't suffer from this problem, so I don't see why this bug is invalid for Firefox. -- Flash under Firefox sometimes loses keyboard events https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 243856] Re: Flash under Firefox sometimes loses keyboard events
BrianGilman, Ken: true and true. The problem is apparently know by Adobe (https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-295), yet it's still unresolved there. BTW: it appears on other systems as well, not just Ubuntu. Also, the issue really does not happen (or is not so perceivable) on Chromium. So I guess this is really a Firefox + Flash problem, which is incidentally what I wrote in the summary description. -- Flash under Firefox sometimes loses keyboard events https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 243856] Re: Flash under Firefox sometimes loses keyboard events
I can't believe, I reported this bug ages ago, and after 3 Ubuntu versions, it _still_ persists. It's seriously annoying. [Bug 509983] Re: flashplugin-nonfree causes flash games to flicker
I also have this bug. I think it is worth mentioning that it is not firefox-specific: Chromium and Arora also suffers from this problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 w/ Intel GM965. The flickering occurs even if the desktop effects are switched off. Maybe this problem is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/484976 ? -- flashplugin-nonfree causes flash games to flicker https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 509983] Re: flashplugin-nonfree causes flash games to flicker
Just a few notes on my previous comment: 1. ... Chromium and Arora also suffeR... :) 2. It is worth mentioning that even though the bug I link sounds similar (only video instead of games), I have never had any problems with flash video; Youtube, Blip, etc. all work fine. 3. I am not sure that the flickering started with 9.10, I think I recall having this problem earlier too. -- flashplugin-nonfree causes flash games to flicker https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 230897] Re: konq-kim 0.9.5
I am not sure the importance should be 'wishlist'. 0.9.5 is the first version of konq-kim for KDE 4. So basically we can say that currently the package is broken. -- konq-kim 0.9.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230897 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 315865] Re: kde4 shutdown abort active sessions prompt only appears after logging out your current session
I also propose a timeout on the dialog. So if the user doesn't press any buttons in, say 30 seconds or 1 minute, the system should assume that he went to work/bed, and just continue with the shutdown. -- kde4 shutdown abort active sessions prompt only appears after logging out your current session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315865 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
