[Bug 578357] Re: Akonadi startup error with no MySql
Deleting both ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1 in ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/, and then running 'akonadictl start' fixed the problem for me. I don't know how the log file got corrupted, but the system should be more robust than that. I mean, deleting a (corrupted) log file does not need to be an unrecoverable error! It's completely reasonable in such a situation to delete it and proceed with startup. The database should still be in a consistent state, and the worst that could happen is that the last few transactions are missing. Or at the very least notify the user what the real problem is. As it is, akonadi server's output is utterly unhelpful, and it took me forever to find mysql.err, where the problem was actually clearly identified. -- Akonadi startup error with no MySql https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578357 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 579941] Re: Upgrade removes eth0 from /etc/network/interfaces
Ashutosh, why do you think anything was done through the Network Connections GUI? To be clear: I did a straightforward install from a KUbuntu Lucid CD, formatting my root partition first. Other than picking my timezone and partitions to format, I picked installer's defaults. The network connection then worked fine for over a week, during which I updated the installed packages at least once. Then a few days ago it stopped working. While trying to fix the problem, I realized that /etc/network/interfaces only contained the definition for loopback, and restored my network access by adding eth0 to this file. [Bug 521169] Re: Cannot configure mailbox folders
This is what I had to do to fix the problem: 1. Create the account, and in the 'advanced' tab of the account creation dialog delete all the namespaces that were entered by the 'reload' button and enter my own ('mail') 2. Exit KMail without expanding the new account in the folder tree 3. Open kderc in the editor and locate the entry for the new account 3. in the account section, delete the lines '1=', '2=', and 'Namespace=' 4. change the 'Namespace:mail=' to 'Namespace:mail=/' 5. save kderc and start KMail 6. now only the mail folders appear in the folder list It looks like the namespace dialog does not produce correct config files. -- Cannot configure mailbox folders https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/521169 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdepim in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 521169] [NEW] Cannot configure mailbox folders
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdepim KMail 1.12.2 (KDE 4.3.2, KUbuntu 9.10 Karmic) I created a new IMAP account, and KMail insists on showing every single file and folder in my home directory. I set up namespaces in account settings, clicked OK, and restarted KMail, nothign changes. I then deleted the lines for those folders from kderc and the corresponding files in .kde/shared/apps/imap, and started KMail again. The account briefly showed only the Inbox, but then all the other folders came back. I don't think the problem is in the mail server, because Mac OS's Mail.app has no problems showing only the real folders. [Bug 454406] Re: Konqueror is missing the search bar
I tracked the problem down to a single line ~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc: 'CurrentEngine=locate' in the [SearchBar] section. [Bug 455152] Re: System tray and clock widgets should not expand beyond what's needed
It's a pretty superficial solution because, unlike in 3.5, the user doesn't have the full width of the panel (minus the clock and tray in the corner) to arrange the remaining icons as seen fit. Instead, he has to manually fiddle with spacers whenever he wants to leave some room between widgets. Hardy AMD64 ATI Radeon (open-source) driver Plain KWin, no compositing Unmodified xorg.conf, except for a monitor section ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log.old" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23613376/Xorg.0.log.old -- [Hardy AMD64] xorg unrecoverable crash when closing a Firefox tab with Flash inside https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 46470] Re: System freeze with white screen
Kernel upgrade is not going to help you, see above in comment #6 how I disabled powernowd by editing /etc/init.d/powernowd. -- System freeze with white screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/46470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 129573] Re: adept-updater crashes when upgrade is done
It happens to me on Hardy, too. The updates do seem to be successfully installed, but it's not exactly confidence-inspiring experience to see a system update crash. -- adept-updater crashes when upgrade is done https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129573 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 72014] Re: Kernel compile fails with multiple definitions of do_drive_get_GTF
I'm running Hardy now, but haven't needed to compile the kernel recently, so I can't confirm the bug is still present, sorry. -- Kernel compile fails with multiple definitions of do_drive_get_GTF https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72014 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 71724] Re: Kernel freeze
Yes, this is still present in KUbuntu Hardy. BTW, this bug is a dupe of #46470. -- Kernel freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 202164] Re: [hardy] displayconfig-restore causes X to crash
I ran into an identical traceback on my machine after I installed Kubuntu 64-bit Hardy. In my case, however, I made zero customizations to the out-of-the box drivers or xorg.conf, and my sole graphics card is the integrated X200 that comes with ATI's Xpress200 chipset. Interestingly, there were no errors in xorg.log, only in kdm.log. (Probably related to the fact that I was getting the login screen, but after I logged in, the screen would go black for a few seconds and I would be kicked back out to the login screen.) Failsafe login worked, and once I disabled the executable bit on displayconfig-restore regular login to the default KDE desktop started working too. (Except that my wide-screen Dell monitor is not recognized and the "Monitor and Display" module in the system settings cannot load.) ** Attachment added: "kdm.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15228229/kdm.log -- [hardy] displayconfig-restore causes X to crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214922] Re: KMail thinks messages have no content in the body
I can confirm that deleting the .index file for the folder that had blank messages fixed the problem, as described in that bug. -- KMail thinks messages have no content in the body https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214922 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
