[Bug 1498026] [NEW] Compile Geany with GTK3 rather than GTK2

2015-09-21 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

It seems to me that it would be better if Geany was compiled to use GTK3
rather than GTK2. Geany supports GTK3 if built with the --enable-gtk3
configure flag ( https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/644 ).

[Bug 1253683] [NEW] Add Ceylon to the official repos

2013-11-21 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

I am not sure where the proper form is for requesting packages to be
added to the official Ubuntu repositories, so please excuse me if this
not the correct site.

I would like to request that Ceylon be added to the official Ubuntu
repositories. (http://ceylon-lang.org/download/) Ceylon is a new
programming language that many computers users may soon learn. Ceylon
has made a Debian package and they plan to support Linux (including
Ubuntu).

[Bug 1242907] Re: The Shutdown button does not work

2013-11-01 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Update: In my post above, I mentioned that an update helped. It no
longer helps. The update seemed to have helped for one day. I did not
change anything on the system, so this "fix" must have been a fluke. So,
the problem still persists.

Thanks for the idea! I will try using Cairo Dock to shutdown my system
the next time I need to do it. Evidently, this is not an issue with the

2013-10-30 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Yes, I have tried a fresh user account.

Guess what?! Last night, there was an update that was released later
that day that fixed the problem. Unfortunatly, I cannot remember the
names of the packages that updated last night. The updates were released
sometime on the 29th of October. They were the only updates for that day
(I use Synaptic to update my system every night hoping to fix the bugs
in Saucy).

[Bug 1245902] [NEW] Waking from Suspend Disables Wifi and Sound until next Shutdown

I had this problem before installing Cairo Dock. Even with Cairo Dock

I have also noticed that my laptop (same system for this report) halts
instead of pwoering off.

sudo shutdown -P now # I later find the system suspended, but not
powered off.

[Bug 1242907] [NEW] The Shutdown button does not work

2013-10-21 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

I recently completed a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 and installed all
of the updates. I noticed that the "Shutdown" button in the menu with
"Log out" does not work. This is almost always reproducible. I have seen
two instances where the button worked (I have no clue why). Usually, if
"Shutdown" does not work, the "Log Out" and "Restart" also fail to work
(but this is not always true). However, the "Suspend" button always
works successfully.

[Bug 1242899] [NEW] Nautilus bookmarks fail

2013-10-21 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

I recently completed a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 (AMD64) and updated
all of the software (as of Oct. 21, 2013). Nautilus fails to retain
created bookmarks. If I make a bookmark and then close Nautilus, the
bookmarks no longer appear when Nautilus is re-opened. The issue is
always reproducible. The bookmarks are local and on EXT4 filesystems.

The bookmark data is still being stored somewhere. When a bookmark is
created in Nautilus, I can see the bookmark in Nemo (another file-
manager), even after the bookmarks disappear in Nautilus.

My system and Nautilus information is below. By the way, I am using Nemo

The ubuntuone-syncdaemon uses about 260MB of RAM on my system when both the
system and Ubuntuone are idle. Can this easily be reduced? Ubuntuone-syncdaemon
is the process with the most RAM usage on my system. I am concerned that
Ubuntuone's performance may decrease. I have noticed that previous versions did
not require so much RAM.

I downloaded a few hunded gradients and I placed them in the gradient folder
and many brushes in the brush folder. I do not always use gradients or brushes,
but they load up anyway when Gimp starts. Is there a way to design Gimp to make
only place them on RAM when they are in use? It seems like Gimp is starting to

Many of the Unity lenses and lens daemons use up megabytes of RAM. For

[Bug 1193373] [NEW] New Chemistry Feature Idea

2013-06-21 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

I have an idea that many users may like to use in Blender. Programs like
Viewmol (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+package/viewmol) and
Ballview (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/saucy/+package/ballview) display
molecules by using chemical file formats like XYZ
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xyz_file). Would it be easy to give
Blender the ability to read a chemical file
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_file_format) generate a model
that can be used in Blender. This feature would help animators and
graphics designers to generate graphics faster because many molecular
model files can be downloaded freely. Then, this would save designers
time becasue the molecule would be drawn for the graphics designer.
Ballview, Viewmol, and numerous other molecular model viewers are open
source, so the Blender developers should have an easier time
implementing this idea rather than writting the code from scratch.

Thank you, and I hope my idea benefits Blender and its users. I am
willing to be a beta tester for this feature. I am currently learning
how to use Blender. I am very familiar with molecular model files (I own
hundreds or more). I know how to use OpenBabel, which is an open-source
program that converts one molecule model format to another. OpenBabel
would enable us to test many formats.

[Bug 1183968] [NEW] Idea: Dump Folders

Public bug reported:

I have an idea for a new feature in Nautilus. This feature is the
ability for a user a right-click a selection of many folders. The user
can then click "Dump Folders". This will tell Nautilus to move the files
out of the folders to the root location of these folders and then delete
the folders. For example, if I have hundreds of folders in ./Downloads,
I could dump the folders and the files inside would all be placed in the
"Downloads" folders.

[Bug 1179748] Re: Idea: Add a Thunderbird Icon to Unity

2013-05-14 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
No. I will explain my idea clearly. My idea comes from Ubuntu One. For
illistration, I boot up my computer and login. On startup, Ubuntu One
has an icon in the icon bar at the top. When I change files that are to
be synced, Ubuntu One handles that immediately. I do not need to run the
program manually, it handles all of this on its own without requiring
that a Ubuntu One manager window be up.

[Bug 820942] [NEW] Some applets on WebMD do not work on Firefox.

2011-08-04 Thread Devyn Collier Johnson
Public bug reported:

I went to WebMD and there is an applet that does not work with Firefox but does
work with Chromium. The web address to the applet is
http://symptoms.webmd.com/symptomchecker. The applet does not work properly. I
have Firefox 5.0 on a 64-bit Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) operating system.
Thank you,
Devyn Collier Johnson
