So I'm happy for now. Thank you all for all the comments here, this is

Been having this problem for years on my Shuttle SN78SH7 too (this model
has a nVidia GeForce 8200 chipset). In my setup just adding "noapic" to
the kernel boot option solves the problem.

BTW, I'm running Fedora 15 with kernel 2.6.42.3-2.fc15.x86_64, so this
is not Ubuntu specific. Also, I'm managing thee Ubuntu PCs at work, so I
guess this entitles me to post here too;-) ?

Two things slow down Inkscape while it's starting up:
1) it's building a list of fonts: using a font manager to reduce the number of
fonts might help
2) it's rendering its own icons: improvements are planned

[Bug 347315] Re: Cannot set the maximum value in color selection

2009-03-23 Thread Diederik van Lierop
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 257685 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257685

There are a few things you can do if you find this annoying:
- wait for v0.47 to be released
- use a nightly build; however, these are not available for Gentoo AFAIK, so
you would have to compile your own build
- downgrade GTK
I guess none of these is very attractive, but please don't shoot the messenger
;-)

Thanks for reporting though!
