[Bug 1688052] [NEW] ddclient 3.8.2-2ubuntu2 causes networking to fail on GCE
Public bug reported: Release info: Description: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Release: 16.04 Regardless of the /etc/ddclient.conf settings, simply installing the ddclient 3.8.2-2ubuntu2 package causes networking to completely fail after restarting an instance on Google Compute Engine (GCE). The serial console outputs the following errors repeatedly: May 2 22:36:37 ubuntu-test kernel: [ 139.218755] ll header: : 42 01 0a f0 00 17 42 01 0a f0 00 01 08 00 B.B... May 2 22:36:37 ubuntu-test kernel: [ 139.292581] IPv4: martian source x.x.x.x from x.x.x.x, on dev ens4 I tested this on two GCE images. ubuntu-1604-xenial-v20170330 ubuntu-1604-xenial-v20160429 This does not seem to be a GCE bug because other Ubuntu images work fine with ddclient and function as expected. ubuntu-1704-zesty-v20170413 with ddclient 3.8.3-1.1ubuntu1 ubuntu-1404-trusty-v20170424 with ddclient 3.8.1-1ubuntu2 Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new network (not a legacy network) with default ports (22 for SSH etc). 2. Create a new Ubuntu instance using a 1604 image from GCE. 3. SSH into the instance and install ddclient. Set the config file with any contents. 4. Restart the instance. 5. Try to SSH to the instance or look at the serial console output to see the errors. I recovered my instance by attaching the boot disk to another instance and deleting the files in the package file list: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/all/ddclient/filelist The instance started up with functional networking like normal and I was able to complete the uninstall process with apt-get. After recovering my instance, I installed ddclient 3.8.3-1.1ubuntu1 from the Zesty universe repository. That package works fine on Xenial and operates as expected. ** Affects: ddclient (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688052 Title: ddclient 3.8.2-2ubuntu2 causes networking to fail on GCE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ddclient/+bug/1688052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 776650] Re: Build qemu-kvm with native VDE support
NAT is of limited usefulness if I want to use network sevices provided by my VM guests. (ssh tunneling can be used but it makes for limited uselfulness). Bridging is invasive because it takes over the primary host networking interface (there may be ways around this, but they are not straight forward). With vde2 the VMs and host share a seperate network (I use iptables for forwarding). Using vde2 the primary physical host network interface is left alone. With vde2 one can use VM guest services from the host and vice versa without any special forwarding (via ssh or something similar). I use iptables and dnsmasq on the host to provide gateway, DHCP, and DNS for the VMs. With vde2 I can use the VMs on a laptop and still have full access to them, and the VMs can indirectly use (via iptables) whatever internet route is being used by the host. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776650 Title: Build qemu-kvm with native VDE support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/776650/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 228224] Re: Cannot Run Online Games
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively [WWW] http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 48180] Re: The home address in the About Me dialog overrides the Work Address
** Summary changed: - System - Prefernces - About Me does not work + The home address in the About Me dialog overrides the Work Address ** Description changed: - LATEST VERSION TESTED: 1:2.22.1-0ubuntu4 + Please describe the problem: + The home address in the About Me dialog overrides the Work Address if the work + email ield is left blank and the home email friend is sometimes empty. - Simply go to System - Preferences - About Me and fill out the form as - you would normally expect. Type data in the first field, press tab to - go to the next field and fill it out, press tab to go to the next field - to fill it out, and so on... + Steps to reproduce: + 1. Open the About Me Dialog + 2. Enter an email address in the 'home email' field. + 3. Leave the work email address field blank + 4. Close to save + 5. Re-open the About Me Dialog - There is no OK option, or Apply, or Finish or anything like that. - There is only a Close button and a Help button. If you click - Close, all your input is lost. If you click Help, nothing happens - at all. - I noticed if I typed my e-mail address into the home field and pressed - the Enter key and THEN clicked Close that the input was saved. - However, when I went back into About Me, the e-mail address had actually - been saved as the work e-mail address. + Actual results: + You will observe that the home email field is now blank while the work email + field contains the actual home email address. + + They seemingly have swapped information -- The home address in the About Me dialog overrides the Work Address https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 115835] Re: no thumbnail preview of apps in synaptic
Couldn't it just pull a thumbnail over the net.. so you wouldnt have to ship the actual pictures. Example.. the same way a link to the homepage is display a thumbnail can be done so too. And if we are worrying about bandwidth i suggest we just rurn it off by default as to not to annoy persons with no or slow net.. Ok. i agree On 5/21/07, Sebastian Heinlein [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: most packages used by synaptic do not have any graphical interface. so gnome-app-install would be a better target. from time to time we think that just including an url that points to a web site would be the best solution. but we haven't had yet the time and resources to work on this. ideally there would be a launchpad integration. -- no thumbnail preview of apps in synaptic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115835 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Only what is done for Christ will Last -- no thumbnail preview of apps in synaptic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115835 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
