[Bug 904031] [NEW] Amarok is crashing when starting
Public bug reported: When I start amarok it fails to start. The main frame (empty) shows up like it's going to start normally but then it disapperas, no amarok systray icon and no amarok process (normally there are many amarok- related processes but now I can only see one after the crash). I can kill that process and try to start again and it's the same thing. Apparenty no segfault. This started happening 3-4 days ago. The only thing I tried these days that I had never done before was fool around with the equializer (which I ended up disabling as it was before). [Bug 883404] Re: skype video cannot use microphone
I have the same problem on skype on kubuntu 11.10. If I try to start a test call, it appears like there's no capture flow created by skype... that is with the mic off as a capture device (all of this on KDE's mixer). If I turn it on as a capture device, then skype hangs up when I try to make the test call... I have to kill it. Then I tried separating the input volumes of both mic channels... then the call went through, the left channel volume was turned down little by little (automagically) but still no sound (and again, no capture flow). I hope that helps a little. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883404 Title: skype video cannot use microphone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skype/+bug/883404/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 790054] [NEW] [natty] Broadcom STA Driver: divide error: 0000
Public bug reported: Hi! I've been using the bcmwl driver since Maverick on this laptop without much problem, however on Natty I hadn't been using it much (I updated to natty a few days before the final release and I keep it updated). [Bug 765478] Re: Kubuntu Natty: graphics are terrible when desktops effects (gl) are on
There was an update on the intel drivers recetly so I checked if this is still a problem. I tested Euphoria and it worked correctly (starting and stopping the screensaver). The only detail is that I have a clock on top of it and I had to disable it because when I enabled widgets to be on top of the screensaver, it crashed kwin. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765478 Title: Kubuntu Natty: graphics are terrible when desktops effects (gl) are on -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 765478] [NEW] Kubuntu Natty: graphics are terrible when desktops effects (gl) are on
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel When I used Maverick, graphics were mostly stable but there was a glitch with screen refreshes... sometimes I had to switch to another desktop and come back so that the screen would be rendered correctly. I supposed that natty would have improved over these problems so I updated today (through apt-get dist-upgrade). Unfortunately the graphics with desktop effects are in a word terrible. I had to disable desktop effects in order to have a usable desktop. What I'm worried about now is that natty is almost out. Re: [Bug 407587] Re: [i865] karmic: 865g is pretty unstable
It doesn't happen all the time but it has already happened twice that when the box is booting I get to a black screen with nothing at all on it. No kdm, no mouse pointer, no keyboard input (not even the leds), no nothing. I'm able to shutdown gracefully if I press the power button or if I use the alt+sysrq keys. Public bug reported: I'm using a very simple configuration of asterisk on jaunty (with a live CD). [Bug 407587] Re: [i865] karmic: 865g is pretty unstable
Hi, guys! I was testing the 2.6.31-10 kernel (just upgraded the box). The 'parkinson's desease' problem from boot up is gone. After I removed the the i915 from the blacklist, I got a stable screen on boot up. However, when I removed the xorg.conf (that I use to stick with vesa) I think I got the hardware acceleration back _but_ the box pseudo-hangs when kde is still starting my environment (past the splash screen, while loading the applications). It happened twice after updating so I'm sticking with vesa for now. I was able to reboot with alt-sysrq key combinations (that's why I said it pseudo-crashes). [Bug 407587] Re: karmic: 865g is pretty unstable
As a workaround, you can get a working environment with vesa. First, blacklist i915. That's done adding a line saying: blacklist i915 to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf By the way, that blacklist worked with the 2.6.31-5 kernel. With 2.6.31-4 it didn't. Then configure xorg (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) to use the vesa driver (if you don't have a /etc/X11/corg.conf file it will require that you create one by running sudo X --configure with the gdm/kdm/xdm/whateverdm service down and copy it there for xorg to use it). That will be enough to get a working environment instead of a screen with a heavy case of parkinson's desease no acceleration though but at least you will be able to work. -- karmic: 865g is pretty unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/407587 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 407587] [NEW] karmic: 865g is pretty unstable
Public bug reported: I think I have finally recovered acceleration on 865G after losing it on jaunty... however there's a heavy flicker affecting the screen. It's like if the screen is scrolled to the right of the screen and moved back to its normal position over and over in a very short amount of time. I think it's somehow tied to video refreshes (when something changes on the screen) and the CPU usage. Another problem is that after a while of these heavy flickering there's a condition (go figure what it is) that will make video pseudo-freeze. I get to move the mouse, the screen is positioned normally but there's no more change in the screen. Keyboard gets unresponsive too. I get to reboot with alt-sysrq-x, though. The box is close to unusable right now. I tried to report this bug on GNU/Linux like 4 times and every time it pseudo-freezed (as I said). I'm reporting it on güindous (and it makes me so happy, you know). The same old message about the LP to look at. So I generated a xorg.conf with Xorg -configure Edited it and set AccelMethod to uxa, set DRI to true. I still have no acceleration (though it didn't hung up) and the CPU consumption by the Xorg process is excessively high (though it goes down, the latency of the system is rather high as I'm writing this mail). Right on! It _does_ work with intrepid's kernel. Now X is running with no xorg.conf and it's _nice_. I just tested the driver that was downloaded on the update (like 15 minutes ago). When kdm starts, I get to see its background, but no other thing shows up. I get to move the mouse around. Can't get to the VTs. Caps lock doesn't switch (at least, there's no led blinking). The power button was able to shut down the box, only that there was no change in the kdm background till a little before booting (a lot of color noise showed up). Re: [Bug 343690] Re: Jaunty: Doesn't work at all in my box
I just updated my box. Removed the xorg.conf and rebooted. I got to kdm, I was able to see kdm's background, I was able to move the mouse around... however, there was nothing else displayed from kdm (just the background), I couldn't use the keyboard (not even the caps lock led turned on / off), I couldn't get to the VTs. So I used the alt-SysRq keys (I didnt test pressing the power button, though sorry) to restart. [Bug 343690] [NEW] Jaunty: Doesn't work at all in my box
Public bug reported: Since I moved to jaunty from intrepid (dist-upgrade) about 2 weeks ago I haven't been able to use the intel driver on my box. It simply doesn't work. sat down yesterday and collected xorg logs for you to see. At first (say... two weeks ago) I got a kdm screen (use kubuntu) that looked almost normal... but there were some artifacts showing up when I moved my my mouse around and I couldn't type a thing. alt+ctrl+backspace didn't work. I couldn't get to the VTs... and I couldn't alt-ctrl-del either. The only way out was to press the power button opf my box and wait for it to reboot (at least that did work). Yesterday when I was doing the text, when I ran X from the terminal, I got a black screen and never got to the net (you know... (X background). Key's didn't work and not even pressing the power button worked. I had to use the alt-SysRq keys to reset it. [Bug 342817] [NEW] Jaunty: Can't get to a desktop
Public bug reported: Hi! Since about 2 days ago I can't get to see a desktop when I start kde. As a test, I just mved out of my home the .kde and ,kde4 directories from my home and tried to start kde again. Same thing. It all looks like it's going to start normally. I get the splash screen, I get to hear the welcome sound, I even get to see some notifications at the top of the screen (one of them says that some application crashed... perhaps that's the problem), but the desktop at the end it's empty. I can't get to kill it with alt+e or alt-ctrl-backspace. I have to get to the VTs (alt-ctrl-Fx does work... at least) and restart kdm to kill my session. Also, I can use the alt-F2 combination. That's how I started ksnapshot to get the picture I'm sending along with this bug.
