[Bug 1078708] Re: [needs-packaging] Dart Editor and SDK

2012-11-29 Thread Eduard Gotwig
What about splitting this bug up into two or three other ones.

Most important is the SDK:

Than comes the editor, provided as an extension for Eclipse. This editor
extension depends on the SDK.
It brings all of the dart standard libraries with it
Get here an overview: http://www.dartlang.org/docs/dart-up-and-running/ch03.html

It offers the following commandline tools (says the website):
Dart-to-JavaScript compiler (dart2js)
Dart VM (dart)
Dart package manager (pub)

Least but not last, there is also a Dartium webbrowser, a modified version of
Chromium that supports dart.
I think this is not ready yet for the mass market, so we should just wait until
Dart becomes part of the Chromium project.

[Bug 1065598] [NEW] /usr/bin/env: node: No such file or directory

Public bug reported:

That's what I am getting, when I try to deal with some nodeJS related software.

good method for that, I guess.

You would have to integrate nodejs, as node into /usr/bin/env.

[Bug 986808] [NEW] Recognize .nrg, .mdf or .img CD/DVD archives as archives

2012-04-22 Thread Eduard Gotwig
Public bug reported:

Brasero allows the user to burn .nrg, .mdf or .img files, but does not
show that the user. When I try to burn the file directly on a CD/DVD (
becouse it an image ) , it shown me the add files dialog. But img files
( created under Apple's Mac OS X ® ) are already CD/DVD archives, and
burning, copying the files to a CD/DVD makes them useless.

When I explicit select to burn the images, I can select the image files,
and brasero burns them fine.

Show the these files as CD/DVD image files, and handle them like those,
and not like normal files.

[Bug 763052] Re: Ubuntu can't boot on nvidia GeForce GT240 with nouveau drivers

2012-04-14 Thread Eduard Gotwig
So when you want to install ubuntu with this graphics card you have tto
boot live cd with nomodeset option, like tuxmartin wrote in #19. Than
you install it normaly. After a install you have to go to the grub menu
(trough pressing ESC key), and than selecting rescoue mode.

There you go to commandline, and type sudo apt-get install xserver-
xorg-video-nouveau

Than you confirm your action, on english setup with y for yes.

Its not critical, or even important that it wants to remove xserver-
xorg-video-all , becouse its somehow a meta package.

After that you restart, now you have normal VESA framebuffer.

Now you can install proprietary drivers trough jocket-gtk, the standard
find drivers program.

Affects also precise release.

[Bug 581041] [NEW] acess on firewire devices for non-root users is not allowed!

2010-05-15 Thread Eduard Gotwig
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

insted of using my dv camera from sony in kino over the firewire stack,
i became the message firewire module not loaded.

The problem was that it doesnt gave an udev-rule for that, and normal
users arent allowed to use firewire.

I wrote this little script.

It specifies the udev rule, creates the group firewire, set the rights,
and restarts udev:

which was left out by Ubuntu's udev maintainers ‹ubuntu wiki

#!/bin/bash

sudo addgroup firewire
echo 'KERNEL==raw1394, GROUP=firewire, MODE=0664' |
sudo tee /etc/udev/rules.d/50-raw1394.rules
sudo restart udev

but with that patch the user has full acess over the firewire device
(which has dma!), so a wrapper would be bether to solve this big
problem, but i dont know much enough about the firewire stack, and I do
not find enough information with google to write a wrapper.

Why non-root´s is it not allowed to use firewire devices? Maybe we can

[Bug 559853] [NEW] Firewire is not allowed for normal users, it doesnt gives an udev rule for that.

2010-04-10 Thread Eduard Gotwig
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: udev

insted of using my dv camera in kino, i became the message firewire
module not loaded.

The problem is that it doesnt gives an udev-rule for that, and normal
users arent allowed to use firewire.

This helped me

Method 3. 'udev rule'

As the most straight-forward method, simply add the raw1394 specific
udev rule which was left out by Ubuntu's udev maintainers:

echo 'KERNEL==raw1394, GROUP=video'  /tmp/raw1394.rules
sudo cp /tmp/raw1394.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
rm /tmp/raw1394.rules
sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart
sudo chmod a+rw /dev/raw1394

based on the source from: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/FireWire and
help.ubuntu.com/community/Firewire

echo 'KERNEL==raw1394, GROUP=video, MODE=0664' | sudo tee
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-raw1394.rules
sudo restart udev

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: udev

insted of using my dv camera in kino, i became the message firewire
  module not loaded.

The problem is that it doesnt gives an udev-rule for that, and normal
users arent allowed to use firewire.

  This helped me

  Method 3. 'udev rule'

As the most straight-forward method, simply add the raw1394 specific
udev rule which was left out by Ubuntu's udev maintainers:

  echo 'KERNEL==raw1394, GROUP=video'  /tmp/raw1394.rules
  sudo cp /tmp/raw1394.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
  rm /tmp/raw1394.rules
- sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart
- sudo chmod a+rw /dev/raw1394
+ sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart
+ sudo chmod a+rw /dev/raw1394
