Pepe, thanks for your suggestion.

Suspend/Resume with current kernel has the same results. I paste the
dmesg results using 2 different kernels. Any suggestion/test would be
appreciated.

[Bug 494824] Re: package nvidia-glx-185 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 2

2009-12-12 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
You can workarround this bug by manually installing the nVidia drivers
following the instructions on
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=990978, this bug seems just a
dependency problem.

I've just installed the latests 64bits drivers (195.22) on lucyd and
after restart all is fine. Let's see what happens on the next X update.

2009-12-12 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
I've assigned bug to xserver-xorg package as there is a problem with its
dependencies causing nvidia-graphics-drivers-* to uninstall.

** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) => xserver-
xorg-driver-nv (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-driver-nv (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Also affects: nvidia-common

[Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5

2010-01-16 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
@Alberto

Thanks. I removed the file, forced reinstall of 2.6.32-10-generic kernel
as to force dkms module to reinstall. After that I saw no changes and my
system was still booting in low res mode, getiing an error (xorg log) on
loading nvidia kernel module. I just installed lastest update of xorg-
server - 2:1.7.3.902-1ubuntu7, and restarted and now all is running
perfect.

Sincerely, don't see the relation of both actions, may be some needed
files were refreshed. On next kernel upgrade I'll keep you up if
something goes wrong.

Grazie.

2009-12-20 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
After manually installing nVidia drivers, upgrading to a new kernel will
break your system back to svga resolution, I assume threre's something
wrong with nvidia kernel mod autoinstallation (sorry, I don't have more
knowledge about this).

[Bug 390177] [NEW] karmic: login screen freezes after installing b43-fwcutter

2009-06-21 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: b43-fwcutter

After some reinstallations and going step-by-step I've detected that
after installing b43-fwcutter-012-1 and rebooting, startup login screen
freezes after few seconds, usually not having time to enter the
username.

It's a fresh install and did not installed anything else. After
installing few times and obtaining same results I went step-by-step
installing or modifying only one thing at a time. After rebooting for
first time all went ok, changed to classic desktop and rebooted, all Ok.
I went to Hardware Assistant and activate the b43-fwcutter, and it
installed in system with no problems. Then I did reboot and the gnome
login screen freezed, also all systems. Only solution was shutting down
using the power button.

System is a HP2133. On previous installations (ubuntu 8.04LTS) I've been
able to use b43-fwcutter-011.

[Bug 390177] Re: karmic: login screen freezes after installing b43-fwcutter

2009-06-21 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Manually installing b43-fwcutter-011 and firmware broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5
freezes the system more randomly, some time I'm able to get into
desktop.

It seems a gnome/openchrome related to b43-fwcutter interaction.

When disabling WLAN from BIOS the system startup and runs normally (at
least for the last 10 minutes)

[Bug 390177] Re: karmic: login screen freezes after installing b43-fwcutter

2009-06-22 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
System was unstable and kept on crashing from time to time. Disabling
wireless from BIOS delayed the freezes to a greater random interval of 5
to 20 minutes aprox.

Upgrading all system to latest available karmic kernel apparently has
solved the problem, no more freezes since I started up with
2.6.30-9-generic.

I don't have wireless activated in BIOS but it's up and running
detecting other networks (should run like that?)

ESB.

2010-01-11 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

It seems there's a bug affecting all Asustek mb that prevents to
  suspend/resume successfully. Following the
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume let's
  gather some more information:

Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? -> Sleep
Is it reproducible? -> It occurs always
Did it work before? -> never on this machine and karmic alpha 2+ (linux was
not installed before. It works on other operating system)
Do you end up with flashing caps-lock or similar? -> No. Usually when
suspending/hibernating the power led turns from blue to orange. On linux, it's
always blue and disk is not suspened/stopped, only screen and then the system
locks. No effect when you press space/cap lock/ etc...Only pressing power for
some seconds until force power-off is forced)

Files and test added on another comment.

[Bug 494166] Re: [lucid] nvidia-glx can't work with new xorg 7.5

2010-01-13 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Alberto, should nvidia-current be installed on all kernels during
installation/upgrade process? I've currently installed it and during
synaptic installation process it said that module was installed on .9
and .10 kernel. The kernel used during install process was 2.6.32-9, but
if I boot using 2.6.32-10 it starts in low-res mode.

[Bug 387640] Re: evolution does not open

2009-06-29 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
This bug also affected me more or less in the same way.

On a clean installation I started Evolution for first time and it
crashed like mentioned by Khorne. Tried some more times with the same
result.

After running Evolution on valdrind it started normally. I setup my
account against exchange and all Ok. Closed Evolution and valgrind
generated the log.

After doing this, without any other action, Evolution now runs fine.

Can attach more information if asked to.

[Bug 419353] [NEW] [ASUSTeK Computer INC. C51-MCP51] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2009-08-26 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Public bug reported:

It seems there's a bug affecting all Asustek mb that prevents to
suspend/resume successfully. Following the
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume let's
gather some more information:

Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? -> Sleep
Is it reproducible? -> It occurs always
Did it work before? -> never on this machine and karmic alpha 2+ (linux was not
installed before.

Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.

[Bug 395460] Re: upgrading to gdm 2.6.1-0ubuntu2: double login, wrong screen resolution and unable to console

2009-07-10 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Thank you Martin.

I've upgraded from 2.20.10-ubuntu5 and the process has renamed custom,
deleted some obsolete conffiles and installed the new ones. Gdm action
"reload" failed but installation finished correctly without closing any
active screen. When trying to reboot the system asked me for
authorization because other users were logged in (not possible).

After reboot appeared the default login screen with my username on tty7
and was able to login ok (correctly, only once). The Metacity error
described on bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/395324 still appears,
but, as it was mentioned in your update, it's an expected behavior to be
addressed.

So, if you do agree, this update closes this bug also. Please ask for
any test or logs you may want.

Thanks!

[Bug 395460] [NEW] [Karmic] upgrading to gdm 2.6.1-0ubuntu2: double login, wrong screen resolution and unable to console

2009-07-04 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Yesterday I did upgrade from gdm 2.20.10-0ubuntu5 to gdm 2.26.1-0ubuntu2
on my HP2133 netbook.

Ubuntu 9.10
Kernel: 2.6.31-1-generic
GNOME: 2.27.3

After rebooting erratic behavior is observed:

1) login is asked in correct resolution (1024x600). I'm able to switch
to console with CTRL+ALT+F2.

>From here I've found 2 possible scenarios:

A) after login correctly I'm redirected to gnome desktop with correct
resolution, and an error Metacity window is shown: "These windows do not
support "save current setup" and will have to be restarted manually next
time you log in", referring to Class: Login Window, Window: Gdm-simple-
greeter. Still in the correct resolution 1024x600. I'm able to open
console with CTRL+ALT+F2 and operate normally until something breaks the
resolutions (for example running package manager)

B) after login correctly it switches screen mode to a greater
resolution, non supported (1024x768) but partially visible and ask to
login again. "gdm-simple-greeter" error window appears again. From here
I'm not able to open a console using CTRL+ALT+Fn, the screen is crewed
if I try.

I'll attach gdm logs on the next post. Is there a way to be back to
v2.20?

Thanks

[Bug 395460] Re: [Karmic] upgrading to gdm 2.6.1-0ubuntu2: double login, wrong screen resolution and unable to console

2009-07-04 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
** Description changed:

- B) after login correctly it switches screen mode to a greater
- resolution, non supported (1024x768) but partially visible and ask to
- login again. "gdm-simple-greeter" error window appears again. From here
- I'm not able to open a console using CTRL+ALT+Fn, the screen is crewed
- if I try.
+ B) after login correctly it switches screen mode to a lower resolution,
+ non supported (800x600) but partially visible and ask to login again.
+ "gdm-simple-greeter" error window appears again. From here I'm not able
+ to open a console using CTRL+ALT+Fn, the screen is crewed if I try.

I'll attach gdm logs on the next post. Is there a way to be back to
  v2.20?

  Thanks

2009-07-04 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Sebastien, I do agree about the resolution, but I think you may have
missed rest of the bug report about double login and erratic behavior
after login. That happened after upgrading gdm, and that's why I've
classified it under gdm and not xorg

[Bug 395460] Re: upgrading to gdm 2.6.1-0ubuntu2: double login, wrong screen resolution and unable to console

2009-07-04 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
Reverting the system to gdm 2.20.10-0ubuntu5 solves the problem, so may
be there's some problem with xorg on the last release, but definitively
there is something wrong on 2.26.1 that breaks, at least, my
installation.

I think this bug has to be assigned to gdm team.

Please ask for any test you want me to do.

Thanks.

[Bug 369794] Re: VPN manager fails to Import VPN configuration file (VPNC)

2009-07-28 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
I have the same issue, but to difficult things a bit, the popup error
notification windows does not show the conf filename, it shows the
following:

--
The file '\UO' could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN
connection information

Error: does not look like a Cisco Compatible VPN (vpnc) VPN connection
--

but with the scape codes formatted to current charset. I've been trying
to copy the file, renaming it, cheking content for <32 char codes. And
all it's ok.

Opening the VPN connection with vpnc-connect from command line runs
fine.

[Bug 369794] Re: VPN manager fails to Import VPN configuration file (VPNC)

2009-07-28 Thread Eduard Sanchez Biete
First, sorry for the double -

May be my report differs from the initial problem mentioned and needs a
separate entry, but it seems there's something wrong with the file
parsing.
