[Bug 1270410] Re: package tex-common 4.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-10-24 Thread Edvin Lindström
This bug affects me on 14.04. Would it be dangerous to endeavour an
upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 without taking care of this issue first?

I tried 3.2rc4, but the problem persists. Also, it won't connect to the
wireless network with 3.2rc4, but that's another issue.

[Bug 903236] Re: Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse on Dell Inspiron 15R N5110

2011-12-16 Thread Edvin Lindström
I'll be happy to. I'm not the most experienced with this, so let me
just check that I got this right: when I install v3.2-rc4 (the latest
Oneiric kernel), I'll just reboot, and before the login prompt I'll be
asked to choose the new or the old kernel? Because at the moment, it
all just goes on without asking me anything until the login screen.
Would this be at all likely to break anything?

[Bug 903236] [NEW] Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse on Dell Inspiron 15R N5110

2011-12-12 Thread Edvin Lindström
Public bug reported:

This is likely a kernel problem, but I couldn't figure out which package
to file it against if it is. I know others have had this bug, but I
haven't seen it reported from this hardware.

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 15R (N5110) laptop. It says to specify the
manufacturer of the touchpad, but I can't find it. It said Synaptics
touchpad in a review, and from my googlings I've seen Alps mentioned.

In any case, it's not detected as a touchpad, but as a PS/2 mouse, and
thus two finger scrolling and other multitouch features don't work.
There's no touchpad tab in System Administration Mouse.

I've attached the output of these commands:

$ cat /proc/bus/input/devices
$ xinput --list
$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10. Here's the output of uname -a:

Linux morsan 3.0.0-14-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 21 20:28:43 UTC
2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

2010-11-12 Thread Edvin Lindström
I'm having this problem too, again. It did work when I first mounted it
today, but then suddenly it was read-only on the next mount. On 10.04.

dosfsck returns this for /dev/sdb:

dosfsck 3.0.7, 24 Dec 2009, FAT32, LFN
Too many clusters (1982207) for FAT16 filesystem.

It doesn't change anything.

[Bug 491846] [NEW] Opening link in new tab freezes Firefox and makes computer unusable

2009-12-03 Thread Edvin Lindström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Sometimes, when middle-clicking a link to open a page in a new tab,
Firefox freezes up completely. The tab opens and the page begins to
load, but after a couple of seconds, it freezes. The Gnome panels seem
to freeze as well; moving the mouse pointer over an icon doesn't
highlight it. I can't close Firefox or open or switch to another
program. Keyboard shortcuts to open programs don't work. The only
thing to do is to force reboot.

However, other programs still run in the background. Rhythmbox keeps on
playing music, and hovering the mouse pointer over its panel icon
actually shows the info box. The panel clock keeps on ticking.

This has only happened with external links to other sites, but I don't
know if that's just a coincidence or not. It happens maybe once every
five hours or so. I have Flashblock 1.5.11.2 and Adblock 0.5.3.043
installed, as well as Rotate Image 0.1.3.2, DownThemAll 1.1.7 and
LeetKey 1.4.3, with compatibility checking turned off. The problem
doesn't seem to depend on the content of the page opened. The newly
opened tab has always been out of focus when this happens, which may or
may not be important.

The last two sites it happened with were http://www.anamanaguchi.com and
http://www.slangbella.se .

Using Ubuntu 9.10 and Firefox 3.5.5.

The problem seems to occur more infrequently than before. Both times it
has happened since your comment the problem was gone after I plugged the

after I unplugged and replugged it, dmesg.log.problem is before I
unplugged it.

[Bug 267222] [NEW] Mouse pointer won't move on boot

2008-09-06 Thread Edvin Lindström
Public bug reported:

On boot, sometimes the mouse pointer is stuck and won't move unless the
mouse is plugged out and back in, and even then it will only work for a
few seconds until it's stuck again. It's Apple's Mighty Mouse. I dual-
boot OS X, and the problem only seems to appear when I have just been in
OS X and reboot into Ubuntu. After an arbitrary amount of reboots, the
problem disappears.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1 on a 64-bit Mac Pro.

I can fully understand if this is given a low priority, but it is very
annoying.

[Bug 258905] Re: Certain songs won't play with crossfade backend on

2008-08-22 Thread Edvin Lindström
Nevermind, I managed to do it.

I have attached a log of me playing the song Did You See the Words by
Animal Collective, fast forwarding to the end, expecting to have the
next song Grass playing, which it doesn't (I discovered this song also
has this problem). Then I doubleclick on Grass, which also does not
make it play. Then I doubleclick on the song after it, Flesh Canoe,
which starts playing, and I pause it directly afterwards.

it started failing, which must have been in October or something like that.
That's really weird. And now I plugged it out and then in again, and it
still works.

I don't know if that's good or bad, because for all I know it might as well
not work tomorrow... Make of it what you will, I don't know what's going on
here.

Can you please copypaste the output of the following commands:
  gconftool-2 -R --ignore-schema-defaults /system/storage
  mount

[Bug 163567] Ipod nano mounted as read-only

2007-11-18 Thread Edvin Lindström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

I get this problem on Ubuntu 7.10 as well as 7.04 running on a Mac Pro.

When I connect my first generation Ipod nano to the USB jack, both the
Ipod and Ubuntu recognize each other. However, the Ipod is mounted as
read-only, for all users including root. When I try to copy files to it
or delete files from it in Nautilus, I get an error message saying that
I don't have the permissions to do that. The disk is listed as owned by
me and rwx-- permissions. It mounts properly in other operating
systems.

The first few times I mounted it in both 7.04 and then in the newly
installed 7.10, it did work properly, but after a few times it didn't
anymore. I can still charge the battery with no problems.
