[Bug 1573764] Re: Cannot install both 32 and 64 bit versions of libwxGTK3

2016-09-17 Thread Enryfox
I opened this bug 5 months ago; in the meantime I have moved to Debian
and left Ubuntu for good.

Maybe the conflicts were solved with a later package update, but back when I
first installed ubuntu 16.04, it did not work; I needed to have runtime
libraries for both 64 and 32 bit plus dev packages for 32 bit only. It did not
work and I could not wait days or weeks to have it fixed.
It was the proverbial straw and I moved away from Ubuntu.

Close the bug if you think it is fixed, I honestly do not care any
longer.

thanks

[Bug 1573764] [NEW] Cannot install both 32 and 64 bit versions of libwxGTK3

2016-04-22 Thread Enryfox
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit fresh upgrade from 15.10.

I have installed the 64 bit version of wxWidgets packages but I also
need the 32 bit version; I cannot install libwxGTK3.0:i386 as it
requires to uninstall most of ubuntu packages. The conflict is related
to libgl0-mesa package: 64/32 bit versions of the library cannot
coexist.

Only wxbase library can be installed both x86_64 and i386, but I need
the GUI libraries.

in Ubuntu 15.10 the two versions could be installed with no conflicts.

Moreover it is also not possible to install 32 bit dev packages on a
Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit installation.

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-06-03 Thread Enryfox
I can confirm what clakomy said: in the pre-release repository (06/03/2008)
there is the whole set of packages to update evolution to 2.22.2: i updated it
this morning and it has been running since (it's mid afternoon now) with no
issues. I tried all operations which caused previous versions to hang and they
all worked flawlessly. Calendar too seems stable enough...
Let's hope this issue is finally fixed.

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-05-30 Thread Enryfox
I agree with tskytta, latest evo updates (05/30/2008) do not fix
anything: calendar crashes within minutes and email folders are stable
at best for an hour if not intensively used. My fear is that this bug is
getting too old and no one is caring about it. Latest stable evolution
release is 2.22.2, but ubuntu is still offering 2.22.1, which seems
pretty bugged. Any change of seeing this new version in ubuntu repos ?

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-05-14 Thread Enryfox
I have the same combination of package as Tskytta and, more or less, i'm back
to where i started: when i create a new message, half of the times evolution
loses connection with the backend process, CPU usage goes to 100% and the only
way out is to close Evo and restart it.
I do not know what happened, but the temporary fix of older proposed updates
seems lost; present updates seem not to fix issues and present proposed updates
completely break Evo.
If anyone need to use Ubuntu in a corporate environment with exchange servers,
i highly suggest to stick to ubuntu 7.10; as for now, ubuntu 8.04 looks like
major step back.

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-05-08 Thread Enryfox
I had the same problem yesterday: on 05/02 the pre-release updated fixed
most of the issues, but the new 05/07 pre-release update renders
evolution unusable (exchange connector loses connection after few
minutes from start-up). I then uninstalled all evolution packages,
disabled hardy pre-released updates and installed evolution from the
officially hardy updates repository. This version seems quite stable and
usable; i sincerely hope the evolution 05/07 pre-release update will
never be officially released !

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-05-05 Thread Enryfox
in system-administration-software sources go to the update pane and check
pre-released updates (hardy proposed)
In synaptic update the package database and install all available upgrades: it
should includes some evolution packages and it looks like issues are fixed.

This morning i updated Evolution allowing hardy pre-release update. Not
a single crash in the whole morning, it has been stable for more than 6
hours (and i wrote several e-mails ... ). I do not know if it has been
fixed or it is just a lucky day, i just wanted to share this possible
solution.

[Bug 34199] Re: Evolution cannot connect to Exchange backend process

2008-04-29 Thread Enryfox
Bug confirmed and still present in ubuntu 8.04 LTS final.

Connection to exchange server is lost typically within an hour of
running evolution. Only way out is to close and restart evolution.
Situation that seems to trigger this issue:

1) writing a new e-mail (address completion using GAL stops working)
2) locking the screen and unlocking it with password

special. The exchange plugin simply stops working and folder contents is no

[Bug 108527] Re: X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards

2007-10-26 Thread Enryfox
P4man,

I am sure the issues you are experiencing are, in your case, un-related
to Compiz and ATi driver; but maybe it is you who selected the wrong bug
:). This thread reports of many ubuntu users who, like me, have no issue
at all just disabling Comiz/Fusion in the gnome appearence pane. I have
been using my ubuntu for quite sometime and with compiz disabled i have
never experienced a single freeze; with compiz enabled it is just a
matter of hours...

Let's keep concentrated on the bug issue: there is something not working
with Compiz and ATI opensource driver; it might be the kernel module,
the xorg server or whatever, but it is restricted to the situation as in
bug description.

thanks
cheers

[Bug 156968] evolution-exchange crashes if messages deleted with Outlook

2007-10-25 Thread Enryfox
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution-exchange

My work mail is on the company exchange server and I use both evolution under
Ubuntu and Outlook under windows to access it. Weekly i have to archive the
emails so that i do not exceed my mailbox quota, and i use Outlook to move
messages from exchange folders to a local PST. After archiving emails, when i
switch back to ubuntu and start evolution, the exchange backend server crashes
while updating folders: the only way out is to delete the local cache in
~/.evolution/mail/exchange and let evolution download again all mail messages.
How can i help debugging this problem ?

2007-10-25 Thread Enryfox
Hi,

i followed the procedure to create a backtrace, but actually i seem not able to
get any data: the problem is with evolution-exchange-storage plugin, which
fails to update folders and shows empty folders. GDB sees nothing abnormal, but
maybe i'm monitoring the wrong process.
What am i doing wrong ?

thanks

[Bug 147309] Re: ATI xorg driver missing resolution 1280x1024

2007-10-04 Thread Enryfox
** Summary changed:

- xorg missing resolution 1280x1024
+ ATI xorg driver missing resolution 1280x1024

** Description changed:

- I installed ubuntu 7.10 beta on a IBM/lenovo T43p laptop; this laptop
- has a 1600x1200 pixel display capable of interpolating every resolution
- down to 640x480. In the user screen resolution prefs pane there are
- several available resolutions, but the very common 1280x1024 is missing
- in favour of an akward 1280x800. Furthermore if i set the screen model
- to LCD panel 1600x1200 (instead of the standard plug'n'play monitor)
- in the administration screen management prefs pane, the highest
- resolution i get is 1280x800. If needed i can attach the
- displaysection of xorg.config as generated by ubuntu installer and the
- administration screen management prefs pane.
+ The ATI open source driver does not detect the 1280x1024 resolution and
+ report a 1280x800. MY laptop is a IBM t43p with ATI mobility fire GL
+ v3200 (M24 chipset). Restricted sourcedriver detecst all available
+ resolutions including 1280x1024.
