[Bug 515109] Re: cannot suspend usb devices on lucid

2010-02-23 Thread Erik Andrén
Hi,
I'm the upstream kernel maintainer of the m5602 module. AFAICT, this only
affects the m5602 connected to a s5k83a sensor. Unfortunately I don't have this
hardware combination which makes this issue more hard to debug.
If possible I need someone with the issue to compile the vanilla kernel and
perform a git bisect to identify the offending commit.

[Bug 500309] [NEW] Resume doesn't work as intended when closing the laptop lid

2009-12-25 Thread Erik Andrén
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

Hardware: Asus 1005HA Netbook, Karmic Koala

Problem: When suspending the machine by closing the laptop lid the
machine doesn't wake upon lid opening. Instead you need to push the
power button. When the button is pressed the netbook comes back alive
again for a couple of seconds but then resuspends itself. When you press
the button once more the machine resumes normal behaviour.

If you initiate the suspend by pressing the power button or select it
via System Shut down, the machine resumes itself correctly on the
first try.

No resume event is detected when opening the lid in windows 7 either, i.
e. you must press the power button. This is probably due to how the
micro controller is programmed.

2009-05-05 Thread Erik Andrén
psychodude,
mdipasq,

In order to help you further I need you to try the latest development tree of
the driver.
1. Install mercurial - sudo apt-get install mercurial
2. Clone the latest driver tree - hg clone
http://linuxtv.org/hg/~eandren/gspca-m5602/
3. enter the gspca-m5602 directory and build the driver - make
4. Unload your previous drivers - sudo make unload
5. Load the new driver - sudo make load
6. Try to use cheese and see if it works. If not, report back here. Thanks!

[Bug 55567] Re: m560x webcam doesn't work

2008-10-10 Thread Erik Andrén
I'm one of the main developers of this driver.
This driver has been submitted upstream and will most likely end up in 2.6.28
meaning that Jaunty will contain it.

One possible issue is that this usb bridge connects to multiple sensors
and that 5 sensors are currently supported but we know of at least one
more.

Thus it's most important that if you currently can't get the driver at
m560x.sf.net to work that you post to the sourceforge mailing list and
let us know in order for us to gain support for your sensor.

[Bug 43572] Re: Dell Laptops don't talk to HAL about brightness correctly

2008-03-25 Thread Erik Andrén
Vyas,
you can check if you have the dcdbas kernel module loaded by issuing: 'sudo
lsmod | grep dcdbas' in a terminal without the ticks.
To load the dcdbas kernel module, issue 'sudo modprobe dcdbas'
You might need to restart hal after loading the kernel module to get the
backlight working.
This can be done by typing 'sudo /etc/init.d/hal restart'

[Bug 201148] [NEW] Gnome stalls during login

2008-03-11 Thread Erik Andrén
Public bug reported:

This is using hardy current.
An update today 2008-03-11 or yesterday broke my system.

Gnome stalls during bootup.
GDM looks fine and works correctly.
As soon as I enter my username and password and press enter the screen changes
to the ubuntu background color without a wallpaper and nothing more happens.
I have a cursor on screen that is movable.
If I enter a virtual terminal I can see that there are several gnome processes
running.
I can also spawn programs from the virtual terminal by doing the DISPLAY=:0
program trick.

KDE works as intended.

[Bug 194719] [NEW] 01_proc_sys_batteries.patch causes a regression making gnome-power-manager not detect the battery properly

2008-03-07 Thread Erik Andrén
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Using hardy current. This problem has just recently emerged with the latest
updates on a
Clevo M720R on intel hardware, C2D 2,4 GHz

The gnome-power-manager is confused about battery state.
If I set the icon to always be shown in the gnome-power-manager, its status
isn't updated when I pull the AC-plug.
Thus, I never get an accurate reading of the battery level.

I don't know if it's relevant to the bug but I've used to have a regression
where gpm detected two batteries (but only one physical existed).
Know, only one battery is detected. Could it be that the wrong battery has
been eliminated?

[Bug 184398] Re: [PATCH] Increase touchpad polling value to decrease number of wakeups per second

2008-03-07 Thread Erik Andrén
I want to stress that this patch is important for laptops.
Without it, the cpu wakes up every 20 ms or 50 times per second where it could
sleep a lot longer.
It is only used on laptops where powersaving is _important_.

I have used the package with this patch for over a month now without
encountering any issues.

Please apply.
