[Bug 781255] [NEW] libsane Backend Epson DX-7400 No 150 DPI Option
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libsane Using XSane with the Epson or epson2 backend from libsane it is no longer possible to select 150 as the DPI setting in XSane's drop down list. This worked in 10.04 but is now missing in 10.10. I was able to verify that this should be possible by editing the package sane-backends by apt-getting the source. It's sane-backends-1.0.21 ADD LINE: sane-backends-1.0.21/backend/epson2-ops.c:205: e2_add_resolution(dev, 150); This forces 150 DPI as an option which works. The scanner without this option allows 300DPI which makes images to large for emailing and 100DPI which are very grainy. [Bug 602213] Re: Wireless hotkey does not work
Ah I've found out what actually activated it for me. I had installed linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic whilst testing. I've uninstalled it and again wireless just doesn't work. Reinstall and it does, so I'm 99.99% sure that's the cause for me. So something has changed between those two that allows it to work for me. I tried modinfo to see if there was any version changes between the two but they are identical version numbers. Not sure if there is anything else I can do to help here? -- Wireless hotkey does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602213 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 602213] Re: Wireless hotkey does not work
Argh unbelievable, it must have been timing issue, I just retried activating the card at slightly later stage in the boot splash and it's worked! Is there anything I can re-add to this to help narrow down getting it activated without having to hit the power on during boot? Thanks for the pointer Chris.. I think I was doing it too early, perhaps before kernel was ready... seriously strange goings on! But I'm happy at least it runs! [Bug 602213] Re: Wireless hotkey does not work
Hey Chris, Unfortunatly I've tried that and it doesn't seem to work at all. The whole activating of the wireless is a little odd in fact it doesn't seem to have an effect sometimes. dmesg doesn't report much either. /var/log/syslog does give NetworkManager errors and timeouts though. Very odd.. I'm having this issue as well, to specify it's a Novatech X10-TP and the results are exactly the same as Chris's initial report. I can check upstream kernels or whatever you deem missing to have closed this. Right now on 10.4 UNR kernel 2.6.32-24-generic gives same issue. Switching the Wireless on/off via the fn+f2 key only (not always) produces ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP):wlan0: link is not ready Network manager reports state change from 2 -> 3 (reason 42) then wpa_supplicant fails with [855] failed to initiate AP scan. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kjots Running KJots (Version: 4:4.3.4-0ubuntu1~karmic1) from inside Kontact or as a standalone application the global shortcut for KJots has ctrl-b set to bold text and also to bookmark a note. Setting the bookmark shortcut to "None" is reset every time the application is restarted or when moving between the different components of Kontact, even without a restart. I believe it's only this monring, but it doesn't look like anything I installed yesterday could have solved that issue, the Kernel was installed on the 8th of January and I'm pretty sure it was still broken. [Bug 482721] Re: Karmic Upgrade Networkmanager No Longer Has Wireless
Ok seems I misunderstood the use of the kernel backports module. so lets ignore that! But I've discoverd what appears to be happening, although it's beyond me why. I had Network Manager open, the "Enable Wireless" checkbox is disabled as it believes there is no Wifi card. I also open syslog. I flicked the hardware kill switch from the on to off position. For a brief second the "Enable Wireless" became clickable, the syslog reported me sending an enable to the card but then almost immediatly it sent a kill, thereby greyout out the tickbox again and printing the kill commands in the syslog. I did this a couple of times, the last dumping a whole load of debuging info by the looks of it (possibly unrelated). Hope this helps.. To clarify; - the switch in the on position does nothing - switch to off momentarily activates the card but immediatly kills it again Dec 15 14:20:28 endeavour NetworkManager: Wireless now enabled by radio killswitch Dec 15 14:20:28 endeavour NetworkManager: (wlan0): bringing up device. [Bug 365669] [NEW] Intrepid to Jaunty upgrade - disk uuid missing
Public bug reported: Upgrade from Intrepid to Jaunty (Intrepid was fresh install from Alternate install CD using full disk encryption and LVM). Jaunty upgrade went ok, removed old Kernels and packages, but on reboot there was a long timeout approx 6 secs into dmesg, the timeout taking approx 3mins before busybox came up. Initial thought was the initramfs not properly built for disk encryption as per bug #317297. This was false assumption, turned out the symlink from /de/disk/by-uuid/disks_uuid_number -> /dev/sda5 was missing, causing crypt modules to not be loaded. Create symnlink manually, ctrl-d out of busybox and it immediatly asked for passphrase to decrypt drive. System booted, although currentl with no GDM, suspicion of bad upgrade. This is weird as there was no warning/errors in Synaptic/update-manager while still intrepid. I did have upgrade problems as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /kdebase-runtime/+bug/324277 (My comments near end). kdebase-workspace: Installed: (none) Candidate: 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu7~intrepid1 Version table: 4:4.2.0-0ubuntu7~intrepid1 0 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid-backports/main Packages 4:4.1.4-0ubuntu1~intrepid3 0 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid-updates/main Packages 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu12 0 500 http://ie.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages -- Intrepid KDE4.2 Notifications Duplicated Three Times https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334329 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 334329] [NEW] Intrepid KDE4.2 Notifications Duplicated Three Times
Public bug reported: I'm not sure what application runs the new notification pop-ups in KDE4.2 on Intrepid. Every notification the displays is triplicated, ie. my Kicker is on top of screen and when a torrent is finished as an example, three boxes stacked one below the other appears to let me know when 1 Torrent has finished. It's happening with any, Network Transfer, Kopete Message. Always 3 messages for what should be one, they are all identical. I'm updated to the latest version that's in Backports right now. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Intrepid KDE4.2 Notifications Duplicated Three Times https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334329 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 324277] Re: kde4.2 install failed: dependency problems
I've just encountered this this morning after getting update to 4.2 indication on my Intrepid install (with back-ports enabled). Mine seemed to be an issue with Kate requiring libplasma3 but libplasma2 was blocking it. I've attached a dump of errors I got but I can attach anything els ein case it's of use (or open a new bug if you want it). I got around it by manually force installing libplasma3, the tried a forced overwrite of kdebase-workspace-libs4+5_4%3a4.2.0-0ubuntu1~intrepid2_i386.deb Which seemed to be the next problem after the Kate issue, then I just did a force on full-upgrade (patience ran out !) and it worked. So perhaps I didn't do it in most effiecient way but I've got 4.2 running. ** Attachment added: "kde4.2.error" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22980446/kde4.2.error -- kde4.2 install failed: dependency problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase-runtime in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 317712] Re: nepomukservicestub crashed with SIGSEGV in QThread::isRunning()
I upgraded to Alpha4 from Intrepid. IT worked fine for a while, did it's very first index, told me it had finished, I was looking about System Settings at Notifications panel when it crashed, probably 2mins after it had completed first index. FWIW: The laptop is a Sony PCG-FX701 (i386 AMD Athlon processor). -- nepomukservicestub crashed with SIGSEGV in QThread::isRunning() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317712 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 323136] [NEW] Kubuntu Upgrade To Jaunty No Documentation
Public bug reported: Well it's not a package, it's the websites, the only reference seems to be the ubuntu.com one: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/alpha3 With "update-manager -d" which is not correct for KDE as this pulls in 56 Gnome libs/deps. I can't find it (Perhaps down to poor Google skills) on the kubuntu.org site. The only referance is on the kubuntuguide.org site, but that again is incorrect as it's saying to use kdesu "adept-manager --dist-upgrade-devel" Adept has changed and there is no suck p[ackage, and adept itself only takes the installer or upgrade commands. [Bug 293206] Re: Sort Date In Kontact To-Do List Ignores Year
I meant to update this ages ago. I set my master KDE date layout too -MM-DD to fix it, but I reckon in the backend it should perhaps *understand* date layout, in my mind sorting by date rarely involves anything other than Newest To Oldest, or at least by default it should do this. If someone wants to find every date starting on the 1st of the Month then they should configure it but for 1st time user might be a little odd of a setting. Well problem fixed for me but maybe it's something to consider anyway. [Bug 293206] [NEW] Sort Date In Kontact To-Do List Ignores Year
Public bug reported: The Sort by Date does not function correctly it does not take into account both Year and Month. Steps to reproduce: - Create a To-Do list item dated for instance 01/04/09 - Create a To-Do list item dated 01/11/08 Sorting by date/time lists the 01/04/09 before 01/11/08 This has changed since KDE3 as it functioned correctly. [Bug 292969] Re: Saved Session Names After Upgrade From KDE3 HArdy Appear as Hex/Random Ascii
I tried the Plasmoid which seemed to read them correctly but it actually failed to load any of them. I resorted to renaming all my files based on the Name= field int he file... slow & painful but it worked (Substituting %20 for any whitespace chars). -- Saved Session Names After Upgrade From KDE3 HArdy Appear as Hex/Random Ascii https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292969 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 292969] [NEW] Saved Session Names After Upgrade From KDE3 HArdy Appear as Hex/Random Ascii
Public bug reported: I've upgraded from Hardy and KDE3 to Intrepid with obviously KDE4. Upgrade was smooth and caused no issue, but oddly the Saved Sessions in Kate are now using what appears to be the Session ID for the saved session name rather than the physical name. This is when I look at the drop down list of saved session names inside Kate itself. What's really odd is if I use the Kate Session Applet plasmoid it reads them fine and displays the proper names. Very bizare stuff. If you need anything from me on this let me know, can't really give you the session files as they are remote sftp sessions. The only one that shows up correctly is "Default", the rest are gibberish, I've attached a screenshot of it. [Bug 273313] Re: TSC Clocksource Unstable Switches To acpi_pm But Server clock freezes/becomes unusable
Well I managed to run the server for a good week until I got the following: [1110565.137933] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 3271800672992 ns) [1110565.147908] Time: acpi_pm clocksource has been installed. [1185505.906355] set_rtc_mmss: can't update from 59 to 0 I'd thought I'd found the initial problem where this server and one like it run checks against various hosts and due to a bug in some checking code had been fighting over hosts, getting lots of failed process and utilisation went through the roof. But with the other off this box lasted a week, but alas it still failed. Any ideas ? The time on the box is not stuck at 1440hrs yesterday (Sunday the 12th Oct). -- TSC Clocksource Unstable Switches To acpi_pm But Server clock freezes/becomes unusable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 273313] Re: TSC Clocksource Unstable Switches To acpi_pm But Server clock freezes/becomes unusable
Ok well I tried switching back to the -16 Kernel and this is not the cause: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/user# uname -a Linux host-01 2.6.24-16-server #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:58:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/user# date Thu Sep 25 13:09:07 BST 2008 This was run about 5mins after entering this bug, it went from tsc to acpi_pm almost immediatly after boot. Something els emust be causing it or it's a bug in the whole 2.6.24 Kernel, I'm not sure. [Bug 273313] Re: TSC Clocksource Unstable Switches To acpi_pm But Server clock freezes/becomes unusable
Correction it appears there was no reboot when I upgraded from 2.6.24.16.18, so the first use of the 2.6.24-19.36 kernel actually appeared to cause an error. I skipped the first -19 upgrade.
