Hi,

Can we really consider a fix released when there is no way of having the
LTS version working ?

2015-12-14 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded to cups:amd64 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.6 1.7.2-0ubuntu1.6

Since then, duplex stopped working. It use to work flawlessly.

My setup:
- Brother HL-3170CDW
- local network.
- ipp protocol

What I tried:
- Factory reset on the printer
- JetDirect, IPP, LDP, etc...
- Default option on duplex
- Changing options on duples.

Nothing worked. Also note: on each of these setups, duplex was working
find from a Windows VM.

Same here.

Any shortcut is actually broken (example: "F5", ALT-T).

Removing appmenu-qt5 does solve the problem, but I like having my menus
in the title bar...

Software that can be compiled agains qt4 work as expected.

[Bug 1285706] [NEW] wrong database file ownership

2014-02-27 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

ubuntu 13.10 amd64
vnstat 1.11-2

Problem:
Database files created by "vnstat -u -i NEW_IF" (/var/lib/vnstat/NEW_IF) are
owned by root, the vnstat user cannot write to them.

Symptoms:
After adding a database, you always get the "Not enough data available yet."
even if vnstat works perfectly in live mode (vnstat -i NEW_IF -l)

Workaround:
Run those commands:
- chown vnstat:vnstat /var/lib/vnstat/NEW_IF
- vnstat -u -i NEW_IF

[Bug 1175644] [NEW] linked to wrong libntfs-3g librayry

2013-05-02 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Trying to use partclone.ntfs gives this message :

partclone.ntfs: error while loading shared libraries: libntfs-3g.so.835:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Turns out that the available version is libntfs-3g.so.84

Creating a symbolic link  libntfs-3g.so.835 ->  libntfs-3g.so.84 seems
to fix it.

Using that fix, I created an image, mounted it on a different machine
(albeit with the same fix...). MD5SUMed every file from the original and
everything was ok...

I suggest fixing links / dependencies

[Bug 1170458] [NEW] iptables service not functionnal - Solution included

2013-04-18 Thread Francois Trahan
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

logwatch does not include blocked connexions (iptables). As this is an
entry point in monitoring servers and because blocked connexion can be a
symptom of break-in attempts, having no report on them while you expect
to can be a big problem

Sorry for not submitting a patch, this is beyond my knowledge and time,
but since it's three lines of code, here's my fix with a bit of
explanation :

in /usr/share/logwatch/dist.conf/services/iptables.conf, set the logfile
to syslog or kern.log :

LogFile = /var/log/kern.log

After doing so, the logfile are not parsed properly. While you now get
reports, the aggregation is not acurate

Basically, the cleanup regexp does not account for the fact that for
small kernel timestamps, there is a space at the beginning of the stamp.

in /usr/share/logwatch/scripts/services/iptables on line 132

The old regexp is :
$ThisLine =~ s/^... .. ..:..:.. ([^ ]*) (kernel: )?(\[\d+\.\d+\] )?//;

The right regexp would be :
$ThisLine =~ s/^... .. ..:..:.. ([^ ]*) (kernel: )?(\[ *\d+\.\d+\] )?//;

Here is an example of a log line that would not work, because of the space in
the timestamp "[ 1690.227087]"

Apr 18 18:05:37 rack1 kernel: [ 1690.227087] fw: IN= OUT=eth0
SRC=166.78.158.192 DST=72.14.183.239 LEN=76 TOS=0x00 PREC=0xC0 TTL=64 ID=0 DF
PROTO=UDP
SPT=123 DPT=123 LEN=56

have fun,
Frank

[Bug 1028958] [NEW] switch : command prompt not updated

2012-07-25 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

In "bzr shell" when using the command "switch", the prompt is not
updated

Example :

Let's assume this repository
repo/
repo/main
repo/work
repo/featureAAA
repo/featureBBB

if I'm working in repo/work, a checkout of featureAAA I've got this prompt :
bzr featureAAA:88/>

if i do "cd ../featureBBB" , I'll get this prompt :
bzr featureBBB:88/>

Back to repo/work, if I do "switch ../featureBBB", is still get this prompt :
bzr featureAAA:88/>
Which is wrong.

Then, if I do "cd ." (change into current directory...), I get this prompt :
bzr featureBBB:88/>
Which is good.

In other words, after a "switch" command under bzr shell, the promt
needs to be updated...

After that, everything goes back to normal. If I type something in the

In other words, mdb segfaults before running my code.

On another machine (same setup) mdb works fine on the same files

[Bug 551895] [NEW] Configuration inconsistent with file permissions

2010-03-30 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: redmine

ubuntu : lucid beta x86
redmine : 0.9.3-1

In the supplied example configurations for apache, there's one for
passenger.

Passenger runs as user "nobody" while the configuration files
(/etc/redmine/default/*) are owned by "www-data". Also, the attachment
folders are owned by "www-data".

The fixe i've used :
add the line "PassengerDefaultUser www-data" to passenger.conf (not perfect,
but not so bad on a dedicated system...)

[Bug 482725] [NEW] Tray applet doesnt launch properly at boot/logon

2009-11-14 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

When I boot and logon, the tray applet for network manager is a black
square. (See image, just above mouse cursor)

A right click on this black square doesn't bring up the netman menu,
just the tray's.

Removing the notification area from the panel and adding it back
resolves the problem, I have to do this at every boot.

[Bug 384177] [NEW] Error in handling of new note template

2009-06-05 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

When I open the "Tomboy Preferences" dialog, on the "Editing" tab, there
is a link "Open New Note Template" that should open the new note
template... When I click on it, I get the following message :

 An error occured while loading or
 saving configuration information for tomboy. Some of
 your configuration settings may not work properly

Clicking "Details" gives me this :

 Bad key or directory name: "/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/": Key/directory
may not end with a slash '/'
 Bad key or directory name: "/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/": Key/directory

template that are properly saved and used for new notes... I just get an
error message

[Bug 377564] [NEW] Color palette : Bad choice !

2009-05-17 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

The default color palette used by gnome-terminal is "Tango" which maps
the "black" color of ncurses to a dark grey (not black) this makes using
ncurse programs (like emacs, aptitude...) much difficult since it
reduces contrast.

You could either change the default theme to Linux console or just
change this black->grey to black->black

[Bug 368880] [NEW] Google calendar issue

2009-04-28 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When i add a google calendar, it usually crashes Evolution (at least the
calendaring part). After a restart, I sometimes get access to my
calendar but any recurring event created with thunderbird (in sync with
the same google calendar) is not shown in evolution.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evolution
Package: evolution 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(custom, user)
 LANG=en_CA.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: evolution
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic x86_64

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 363471] [NEW] Screen saver while full screen

2009-04-18 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kvm

I am currently running a XP Pro V.M. in this environment settings :

kvm:
  Installed: 1:72+dfsg-1ubuntu6
  Candidate: 1:72+dfsg-1ubuntu6
  Version table:
 *** 1:72+dfsg-1ubuntu6 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Ubuntu : Intrepid (8.10) amd64

Command (split over several lines for clarity...) :

kvm
-name "vmXP"
-M pc
-smp 1
-m 1024
-boot c
-net nic,model=virtio,mac=02:c1:b6:b5:c4:8e
-net tap,ifname=tapXP,downscript=ifdown,script=ifup
-localtime
-alt-grab
-no-quit
Image.img

(Sometimes also with "-std-vga" )

What happens :

When I go into full screen mode, whenever the host's screen saver kicks
in, I end up unable to go back to my session or the host's session.
Sometimes, I will make it to the unlock screen but even if this happens,
I ultimately end up stuck in a black screen.

CTRL-ALT-F1 (2,3,...) wont respond to go into a TTY and CTRL-ALT-
Backspace usually don't work to reset X server. (In fact, there have
been a few times where CTRL-ALT-Backspace did work, but it's really
rare).

The only thing that get's me out of there is pushing the power button
which does trigger shutdown mecanism.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx
Package: kvm 1:72+dfsg-1ubuntu6
ProcEnviron:

PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games://home/username/bin
 LANG=en_CA.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: kvm
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-14-generic x86_64

** Affects: kvm (Ubuntu)

[Bug 359130] [NEW] Display problem under KVM

2009-04-10 Thread Francois Trahan
Public bug reported:

Here's the setup :

Host :  Intrepid Ibex amd64
Client : Jaunty Jackalope amd64
Machine : kvm
Command line :

kvm -name "Jaunty Beta" -m PC -smp 1 -boot c -alt-grab -no-quit -m 1024
-net nic -net user -snapshot -std-vga Image.raw

Problem : Boot crashes after grub selection...

It works perfectly with
kvm -name "Jaunty Beta" -m PC -smp 1 -boot c -alt-grab -no-quit -m 1024 -net
nic -net user -snapshot  Image.raw

i.e. without -std-vga ...

ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_CA.UTF-8
