[Bug 208792] Re: pm-utils doesn't call anacron
This seems to be because part of the power management stuff is still done by acpi-support. On my 32bit 8.04 powered laptop, anacron gets stopped/started when switching to battery/ac (alt+ctrl+F1 switch to tty1, unplug ac and messega shows up"*Stopping anac(h)ronistic cron anacron") but to me it seems its still done with /etc/acpi/battery.d/15-anacron.sh and /etc/acpi/ac.d/85-anacron.sh which is weird since scripts placed in i.e. /etc/acpi/resume.d no longer get executed and you have to place your scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ . Also the /etc/acpi/power.sh still gets called when switching to battery/ac. Another thing, some variables in /etc/default/acpi-support are still valid and affect the system's power management behavior, some no longer have any effect, i.e. ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE setting still works, while MODULES has no effect and one must create his own new config in /etc/pm/conf.d/ to configure modules which should get unloaded before suspend/hibernate. Maybe a new bug should be reported, to completely remove acpi-support package from default install and fully migrate all the scripts and hooks to pm-utils since for now the hardy power management seems like glued and duct taped together from pm-utils and acpi-support. -- pm-utils doesn't call anacron https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 235105] Re: scripts in /etc/pm/power.d should be called after resuming/ thawing
Assuming you are trying to improve on the SUSE hdd APM fix ( http://en.opensuse.org/Disk_Power_Management ), a temporary workaround to achieve this functionality would be to use the script in the attachment in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ This script will check whether we are resuming from suspend/hibernate (thats what sleep.d is for, doh) and in case we are, it will check the AC state and than allow you to set APM according to whether we run on battery od on AC power. ** Attachment added: "disk" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15624529/disk -- scripts in /etc/pm/power.d should be called after resuming/ thawing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 186118] Re: gnome-about crashed with KeyError in make_info_label()
I can confirm that with current Hardy RC1 this bug still persist for Slovak translation. The translation file posted by Yanick solved the problem for me. [Bug 98684] Re: Switching users (switch user) blank screen on fglrx (ATI driver)
A workaround for this always was to set AlwaysRestartServer=true /etc/gdm/gdm.conf in the [Daemon] section. Try that to see if it helps. You can also do this by adding this to the /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom file: [Daemon] AlwaysRestartServer=true -- Switching users (switch user) blank screen on fglrx (ATI driver) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98684 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 82680] Re: [feisty] regression: ti mmc card reader not working (worked flawlessly in edgy)
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 53923 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/53923 I "installed" the new upstream tifm drivers http://prdownload.berlios.de/tifmxx/tifm-0.8b.tar.bz2 (added the proper entries to /etc/modules and modprobed in the new modules...) but my card reader still was not working properly. dmesg showed the card insert is being properly detected by the driver but the card did not get mounted after insert. So i gave up for a while on the problem. Then ones i was booting my laptop i noticed that at one point the boot log says (i have the "quiet" kernel option removed so i see the boot messages): Mounting local file systems . FAIL Further research showed that it attempts to mount /dev/mmcblk0 to /media/mmcblk0 on every boot, which isn't right since the card isn't always present. So i commented out the following line in /etc/fstab file: /dev/mmcblk0/media/mmcblk0 vfatdefaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1 on next laptop boot the boot log error is gone (of course) and my card reader now properly mounts my MMC card if i insert it and i even get the "icon on the desktop" :D ... I only tested MMC card since i don't have any SD ones :P I used a script for installing the new tifm driver posted in this howto thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2520594&postcount=1 Inserting card while booted and logged in now works properly for me. Cold start with card inserted also mounts the card properly. Reboot with card inserted works as well. And i am running 32bit Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn with a 2.6.20-16 kernel on an HP nx6125 laptop with a 5in1 built in card reader. -- [feisty] regression: ti mmc card reader not working (worked flawlessly in edgy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/82680 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
