[Bug 1951826] Re: Installing site as Progressive Web App does not create launcher icon

2024-05-29 Thread Dexter Frost
Hi there, this issue has come up for me on all packaged versions of
epiphany - except no record of app in application manager either. Gnome
has closed the issue as it isn't them. Please see thread:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/issues/2357

Gnome believe this to be an Ubuntu issue.

Thanks all.

[Bug 1872541] Re: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL

2020-04-17 Thread Martin Frost
I have the same issue, and for me it *does* work if I use `--ssl-
mode=DISABLED` to connect.

This is using the mysql-client installed through apt in Ubuntu 20.04
beta (mysql-client 8.0.19-0ubuntu4), and connecting to a MySQL Server
version 5.7.21 running in docker on the same machine.

I get the same problem when trying to connect using the mysqlclient-
python library in a django application I'm working on.

The mariadb-client version of the `mysql` binary can connect to the same
database without using `--ssl-mode=DISABLED`.

If I replace mysql-client and libmysqlclient-dev with mariadb-client and
libmariadbclient-dev and then reinstall the python mysql library, that
works as it is supposed to.

[Bug 1799988] Re: Missing wifi and bluetooth after sleep on XPS 9370

2019-03-25 Thread Ellie Frost
Kai-Heng Feng:

I've been using your kernel for about a week, and it's solved the issue for me!
$ uname -rv
5.0.0-3-generic #4~lp1799988 SMP Mon Feb 4 00:02:55 CST 2019

Any ideas when your change can be upstreamed? Before I tried your kernel
I tried the Mainline kernel and the issue was still present, so I think
I can validate your change.

[Bug 1814003] [NEW] kernel BUG at fs/ext4/inode.c:2679!

2019-01-30 Thread Moses Frost
Public bug reported:

I started seeing this bug in Ubuntu 18.04 running VMWare Workstation Pro
14. After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 and VMware Workstation 15 the bug
still appears. I started to ask questions on the VMware Community,
https://communities.vmware.com/thread/604705. Because I had some
additional time to troubleshoot I am also noticing that this bug is
being reported on other Linux Distributions notably:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1662314

Conditions to reproduce. Laptop is running 2 NVMe drives with Cryptfs on
each drive (unsure if this is related). Running Vmware Workstation Pro
15 with a Windows 10 Guest upon shutting down the Windows Guest a kernel
stack strace appears in both dmesg -w and /var/log/syslog. The VM does
not gracefully stop.

Stack Trace is Below:

2018-04-06 Thread Frost Red Lee
我的电脑也是这个型号,也遇见了这个问题,我试过到4.9还是正常的,之后的版本全有这个问题,另外我用的是 Manjaro
发行版,网上只搜到了这一个报这个问题的地方。blacklist添加后就能打开wifi了。

[Bug 1686081] Re: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work

2018-01-30 Thread Daniel Frost
Hm, some things you should not do in the middle of the night. :-(

I have tried your code again today. It does work!
Touchpad works fine, settings are available.

Yesterday, doing a simple copy, I did miss the linebrake after the
end of the first line here in the launchpad code (same in the email).

So I have to apologize for making you go "Hr ... curious." :-)
And thanks a lot for the working touchpad.

2018-01-29 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi Chris,

thanks for taking time to look into this.
I tried your code, but no, the system touchpad hotkey (FN+F3) is still not
working.
There are still no touchpad settings available.
And my workaround-script doesn't work anymore either. ;-)

[Bug 1686081] Re: If -synaptics is installed, GNOME Mouse & Touchpad Settings doesn't work

2018-01-29 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi, I just upgraded from 17.04 to 17.10.
I m running my ubuntu in Xorg mode.
After the upgrade (Dell Laptop with an Alps touchpad) there are no touchpad
settings available at all (see attached screenshot).
The touchpad would work though, but I could not disable it at all. Pressing the
Function-key+F3 would show the on-screen symbol of the disabled touchpad, but
it wouldn't disable the touchpad.
At the moment I am using a bash script that is utilizing "xinput --disable
$device" to enable/disable the touchpad.

[Bug 1707352] Re: the change from libsane to libsane1 broke many (all?) 3rd party plug-ins for sane

2017-12-13 Thread Matthew Frost
Epson Perfection V30 didn't work, and I've gotten it working now.

Had these problems on 17.10, almost b0rked my system with some of the
proposed solutions re downgrading. Here's what worked today (Dec 13,
2017) on a fresh install:

*Before* installing iscan-data, iscan, and esci-interpreter-gt-f720 from
the Epson package, I made a symlink from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane
to /usr/lib/sane so things would get to the right place automatically.
(This might be a further useful fix to add to the libsane package.)

Then I installed the software from the Epson package.

Then I followed the instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/sane#Setting_up_SANE;>the
community site. I tried XSane, and it wouldn't detect my scanner. I
added an 'epkowa' line to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf, and after that, I could
run 'sane-find-scanner' as root successfully, and running 'scanimage -L'
as root activated the scanner. I was able to run gscan2pdf (my preferred
app) as root successfully, and used it to scan a document.

Of course, I don't want to run this software as root every time. So then
I created the 79-udev-epson.rules file per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-
backends/+bug/1707352/comments/86">comment 86, rebooted, and
everything works now as a regular user.

Thank you all for your suggestions and fixes!

Thank you for the response.

I tried this combination but it did not work. The solution was as
follows:

[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-21 Thread Daniel Frost
Yes, "com.canonical.payui_payui" is still visible under settings.
I have attached a partial screenshot.

Maybe something is not as it is supposed to be and I will have to take
the time for a clean reinstall of Ubuntu Touch on my phone. Probabely
something is wrong with my phone. So i might do that first instead of
filing a new bug that is only a single phone problem. Thanks a lot
anyway for your suggestion of where to file the bug. I am always a bit
lost with that. I do find it difficult to choose the right place to file
a bug if not one of the apps is concerned.

Thanks for your time and help.
Have a nice chrismas and a happy new year!

[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-20 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi Alberto,

I did delete my UbunuOne account and tried to install two random apps.
The good news is - yep - they are installed! :-)
The bad news is, they do not show up on the home sceen. :-(
Please see the attached screenshots.
In the store the apps are marked as installed, but, being sorted in
alphabetical order, they are not shown on the home screen.

For the reason why my account was disabled I now do have an explanation.
On the account settings I had disabled the access to the account for
"com.canonical.payui_payui".
I did this to avoid accidently installing apps that do cost money.
With the newly created account, after deleting the other one, it was enabled.
Installing apps worked. With access of payui disabled you can not install apps
any more.
Sorry about that. No bug, just me... :-(

[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-17 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi Alberto,

it took some playing around, because I have never before used the
phablet-shell. But I did get something out of it in the end. ;-) I had
to copy/paste the content of the terminal, because I could not find the
oa.log file. Well, I did just unplug the phone to stop logging not
knowing any better. Hopefully there is still something useful in there
for you!

I did not get past the point where I had to press "install" in the store. When
I hit that button nothing happend on the phone but text appeared in the
terminal (as attached).
When pressing "install" again, it would only give me that error message wich
you can see at the bottom three times.

Do you think it might be worth trying to delete the UbuntuOne account?

I do hope that does help at least a little bit.
If you need anything else please let me know.
I will try my best and I do not mind learning something new. :-)

[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-14 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi Alberto,

thanks for taking time to look into this matter.

1) Done, see attached screenshots, I took them with my original language
settings in german and changed to english and took them again
Regardless of the app I am trying to install the box at the top is always empty.
I did also try to press "deny" (could have been the buttons mixed up) without
success.

2) Yes I do have an UbuntuOne account set up and registered within system
settings
I did that in order to get app updates after OTA 13. Ohterwise I had to enter
the credentials every time I was checking for updates. That was a bit anoying
;-) .

3) That was already done before trying to install apps, see 2).

If you need anything else please let me know, I will try to provide wit.

[Bug 1649419] [NEW] unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-12 Thread Daniel Frost
Public bug reported:

Since OTA 13 I am not able to install ANY app from the ubuntu store on my BQ E5.
I do click on install, then I am asked to confirm access to my UbuntuOne
account and thats it, back to the install page.
I tried several apps with the same negative result.
I do have over 4GB free space, so that should not cause trouble.
The phone has been rebooted a couple of times i.e. to upgrade to OTA 14.

[Bug 1604519] [NEW] sudden akku drainage

2016-07-19 Thread Daniel Frost
Public bug reported:

On my BQ E5 running OTA 11 I do realize for some time now sudden akku
drainages, see attached screenshots.
At least on one occassion lately I did find out that this happened when I was

For the first couple of photos I did had the normal shutter sound. After a few

After Rebooting the phone the drainage usually stops occasionally it happens

[Bug 1544477] Re: No sound notification for new SMS (Ubuntu Touch)

2016-07-19 Thread Daniel Frost
Recently I was taking some photos with my BQ E5.
On the first couple of photos I did get the normal shutter sound.
After I think maybe 3 or 4 photos there was no shutter sound any more.
I am not sure if this goes along with loosing the sound on incoming SMS.

BUT I did find that - at least at this last occasion - loosing the shutter
sound did go along with a sudden akku drainage. I did experience this akku
drainage before (see screenshots), but this time I could tell when it started.
Maybe that helps. If you do need any logs let me know.

[Bug 1407921] Re: Indicator should give feedback when location-service is in use by apps

2016-06-13 Thread Daniel Frost
Hi Matthew, I am aware of that.
But Location turned on/off and GPS turned on/off is not the same.
At least that is what I was experiencing and what I tried to describe.
Without me touching the location settings (turned off) GPS (visible under
Battery) could be turned on (without me turning it on).

Because that happened to me I am not sure if internally the same ist
still going on but now with the GPS button gone I can not find out.

I suppose it would do the job to make sure, that if location is turned
off GPS definitly is turned of as well.

By the way there is no option for location services only based network
triagulation but without GPS, right? I wonder if that would be usefull
to get you a rough position for Here Maps but you would not have to turn
on GPS wich would for instance reduce battery life.

[Bug 1407921] Re: Indicator should give feedback when location-service is in use by apps

2016-06-12 Thread Daniel Frost
With OTA 10.1 on my BQ E5 GPS did turn itself on every now and so on - without
me turning locationservices on, that was still off. I could not find a pattern
to it at the time. That was of course reducing battery lifetime.
On OTA 10.1 the GPS on/off button was still available under the battery
settings, that's how I found out about it.
With OTA 11 this button has disappeared, so I do sometimes wonder if internally
GPS is still turned on occasionally (and apps could be able to use
location-services?) but now I do not have any way to find out.

So, yes with the indicator showing GPS usage that would solve that
problem as well.

[Bug 1560373] Re: network indicator shows no connection but browser works

2016-06-12 Thread Daniel Frost
I do actually experience the opposite behaviour.
The indicator shows the network connection to be turned on ("H" symbol + "R"
symbol) but I do actually not get network access. Textsecure, Browser,
Weather-App, ... do not connect to the internet.

I have to admit, that at work I am sort of in the middle between 2G and
3G range (thick walls). So the phone keeps switching between the two.
That happened with my old phone as well.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1544477 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544477

Hi Anupam,

sorry for replying so late.

As mentioned above the problem does not occur any more.
So unfortunately I can not supply those files with that malfunction.
I do not have those old logs from the time when the error occured.

I can of course provide todays files, althoug I am not sure if they help
at all.

[Bug 1555221] Re: [phone] no sound on incoming text messages

2016-03-13 Thread Daniel Frost
After rebooting the phone (for other reasons) now some days later the phone
does work fine.
I can not reproduce that error any more.
I do attach the log for today.
Because the problem did occur I do not close that bug. But solving the problem
is not urgent any more - as far as I am concerned.

[Bug 1555229] [NEW] [phone] wrong image in screenshot

2016-03-09 Thread Daniel Frost
Public bug reported:

I am running a BQ E5 with OTA 9.1.
I did take a screenshot to attach to another bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-sound/+bug/1555221).

When preparing that post, I did realize that, although the sound was
turned on (i.e. sounds played on incoming calls, I did test for that),
on the screenshot the speakersymbol showed the speaker as muted. On the
screen of my phone it does show the normal "speaker on" symbol as I
would expect it to do.

[Bug 1555221] [NEW] [phone] no sound on incoming text messages

2016-03-09 Thread Daniel Frost
Public bug reported:

On my BQ E5 I do not get a sound when receiving a text message. Vibrations do
work fine, though.
Sound is turned on. It does work fine with incoming phone calls.
I believe it did work fine earlier on. I am not sure, but this behavior might
be the case since updating to OTA 9.1.

!!! If you look at the attached screenshot of the logfile you will see the
speakersymbol marked as muted.
This is only on the screenshot!. On my screen it is normal and I do get sounds
i.e. for incoming calls.
I will have to report this as a separate bug.
So the reason for this bug is definitly not the phone being muted. !!!

[Bug 1440111] Re: [calendar] Reminder notifications are not integrated into system notifications

2016-02-10 Thread Daniel Frost
@charlesk - post from 2016-02-04
Uhm, I hope you don't mind the question, but why should clock alarms override
silent mode?
I did actually file this behavior as a bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clock-app/+bug/1542889).
Silent mode should be silent regardless of the action coming up. Or maybe you
should be able to choose which actions are allowed to override silent mode?

[Bug 1281171] [NEW] Chromium browser locks up running Ubuntu14.04

2014-02-17 Thread Tom Frost
Public bug reported:

Chromium browser locks up with multiple tabs open when running Ubuntu
14.04.it does NOT cause a system crash as has
been reported elsewhere, and apport does not start or file a bug report AFAIK.
The only fix was to close the browser
re-open; this worked for a while, but then locked up again.

This problem was NOT seen running Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS or Mint 16.

This was happening frequently with Shockwave Flash v 11.2 r202 that is
the default install.

I opened a new thread on the Ubuntu forums to get some
helphttp://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2205971.
Another user reported a similar problem using the Chrome browser, but stated it
would clear up after a couple of
minutes.

One of the forum mods suggested it might be related to the shockwave version
that is reaching end of life support
from Adobe, and told me about the new version for Chromium titled Pepper
Flash.

After a web search I found an article about Pepper Flash being added to
the 14.04 repositories. I then did the following:

sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install

This installed shockwave flash v 12.0.0.44

This seems to have fixed the problem as I am now able to open multiple tabs
without any lock ups; after running for
over 8+ hours it still is working correctly.

my system info:

tommy3@tommy3-Inspiron-531s:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04 with kernel 3.13.0-8 generic

Chromium version used in this browser: 32.0.1700.107

If more info is needed, let me know.

Re: [Bug 1085548] Re: 10de:03d0 [Dell Inspiron 531s] Cannot boot since kernel 3.2.0.34

2014-01-05 Thread Tom Frost
Hello,

I no longer have this problem since kernel 3.2.0-36 kernel
releasecan't you just close
the bug report ?? I am using kernel 3.2.0-58 currently with no problems.

I have been using Ubuntu 14.04 with the latest kernel since it came out,
so I don't see
it as an issue any more. I also have no problems using Ubuntu 12.04.3
LTS or Linux
Mint 16 with the latest kernels.

I have great reservations about flashing the BIOSif it left me with
an unworkable
mobo, I would be royally screwed !! In other words, if it ain't
broke-don't fix it.

Tom Frost, thank you for your comments. As per

2013-11-11 Thread Tom Frost
FYI

The problem is associated with Nouveau my nVidia graphics card...

I have since installed Ubuntu 14.04 running kernel 3.12.0-1.

At 1st install I had the same exact issue with the Nouveau driverhowever
running sudo apt-get install nvidia-current fixed the problem

The same problem showed up in Linux Mint14 using kernel 3.5.0-42 was
fixed by installing nvidia-current

[Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined

2013-10-01 Thread Phil Frost
The cloud archive does not yet have the fix. It's not terribly hard to
patch the packages locally, though. Summary:

apt-get install build-essential
apt-get source horizon
apt-get build-dep horizon
cd horizon-*
# apply the changes to debian/rules and debian/changelog at
#
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/148082203/horizon_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu2_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu3.diff.gz
# (although probably you will want a different version number, so
# the next ubuntu cloud archive version superceeds yours)
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
cd ..

install the resulting .debs with dpkg -i, or put them in a ppa, or
some other repo, etc.

I've confirmed that these changes fix at least the problem described
here. I'm then having a different problem: when I log in, I get
redirected back to the login page, with no error in the browser or
apache's error.log that I can find. However, that is probably more
likely something I did wrong upgrading from grizzly to havanah, or a
separate issue.

[Bug 1193115] [NEW] Prints out garbage when host variables are used

2013-06-20 Thread Stephen Frost
Public bug reported:

If a host variable is defined, it shows up in the status.dat file and
when nagcon tries to process it, it can't find it in the fixed array of
known variables and instead it spits out the entry with [VARIABLE] ???
(search for the only set of three question marks in the package, you'll
find it...).

Simple answer is for nagcon to, instead, ignore these custom variables.
Patch included to remove the stupid printf().

After that, it works great.

Thanks!

Stephen

[Bug 1185261] [NEW] MaaS nodes being enlisted with multiple network cards fail to commission

2013-05-28 Thread Eric Frost
Public bug reported:

Allowing MaaS to do it's own DHCP/DNS but isolating it onto its own
network segment and having nodes with two network interfaces (one
interface connected to the network segment the Maas controllers are on
and the second interface connected to another (different) network
segment that has external internet access) results in failure to
commission nodes properly.

The nodes correctly start up, contact the server, boot and
sit...eventually printing various apt-get error messages about being
unable to connect to external sites before ultimately powering off and
changing the state on the Nodes page from commissioning to ready. It
seems that only one interface is being brought up (the one that
contacted the MaaS controller) and the other one is ignored.

This was tested on a fresh 12.04.2 server install and using the MaaS
stable PPA package version 1.2+bzr1373+dfsg-0ubuntu1~12.04.1~ppa1.

[Bug 1163927] [NEW] indent/puppet.vim required by vim-addons-manager registry but not in package

2013-04-03 Thread Phil Frost
Public bug reported:

installing the package vim-puppet results in a VIM addon that can't be
enabled:

$ sudo vim-addon-manager -w install puppet
Warning: ignoring 'puppet' which is missing source files

Seems to me that the addon requires indent/puppet.vim:

$ cat /usr/share/vim/registry/vim-puppet.yaml
addon: puppet
description: Syntax highlighting for puppet
files:
  - ftdetect/puppet.vim
  - indent/puppet.vim
  - syntax/puppet.vim

but indent/puppet.vim is not installed by the package:

$ cat /usr/share/vim/addons/indent/puppet.vim
cat: /usr/share/vim/addons/indent/puppet.vim: No such file or directory

(unlike the other two files referenced):

$ ls -l /usr/share/vim/addons/ftdetect/puppet.vim
/usr/share/vim/addons/syntax/puppet.vim
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 85 May 16 2012
/usr/share/vim/addons/ftdetect/puppet.vim
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5334 Jul 6 2012 /usr/share/vim/addons/syntax/puppet.vim

Removing the reference to indent/puppet.vim in vim-puppet.yaml seems to
be an acceptable solution.

[Bug 1085548] Re: [Regression] cannot boot since kernel 3.2.0.34

2013-01-08 Thread Tom Frost
today I downloaded the latest builds of Quantal Raring...

I booted them with GRML-rescueboot with the following results:

I elected to use the try option rather than a full install

Quantal

1) Quantal stopped at the purple screen of death for 10-15 seconds, but then
continued
loading like normaleven Unity 3d seemed to work as I could resize the
iconsI could
change the background image at willwas able to connect to the net with
Firefox

howeverwhen trying to go to the Dash my screen randomly changed colors and
ended
with diagonal linesit was frozen at this point needed a power down/up
cycle to get back
to GRUBthis happened the 1st time I tried to use Quantal only

when trying again to use Quantal I now get a black screen with error messages
stating
Nouveau failed to idle channel 1, chan 2the errors repeat until I once
again cycle
the power to get back to GRUB

Raring

2) Raring got to the try option, but then went to the purple screen of death
and froze.only option was power cycle to get back to GRUB.

I am still using 12.04.1 LTS with the older 173 nvidia driver...it works
perfectly for me

2012-12-24 Thread Tom Frost
I got brave installed the 3.2.0-35 kernel today..

it did NOT go to the low graphics screen, nor did it go to
the purple screen of death...it just worked as expected..

It WORKS with no problems out of the box...did not have to
play with the Nvidia driversstill using the older 173.14.35
driver because it works great.believer in the old phrase
if it ain't broke, don't fix it

thanks for the help,

Correct...

when I 1st updated to the 3.2.0-33 kernel I did notice
that I had to reinstall the old Nvidia driver to make
it work correctly.the nvidia-current had been working
correctly in the previous kernel, but would not work
with 3.2.0-33

the wiki page is saying that I need to be booted into
the latest upstream kernel before running their scripts

I assume they are asking for it to be the 3.7.0--rc7 kernel..

it won't boot into this kernel at all, so how can I proceed??

so far, the only kernel that will let me boot is 3.2.0-33

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the
issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0]. The first step is
to email the appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then
a bug may be opened on bugzilla.kernel.org.

[Bug 1085548] [NEW] [Regression] cannot boot since kernel 3.2.0.34

2012-12-01 Thread Tom Frost
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS under kernel 3.2.0-33after updating to new
3.2.0-34 kernel and rebooting, I got an error message
stating that my PC could only operate in low graphics modeI answered OK
and then it went to a screen with 4 options...I tried
all 4 options without any success...it would not boot and just hung up...

I managed to get running with a live CD of 10.04.1 LTS so I could get onto the
Forums to get help...at the suggestion of one responder I managed to get back
to the working 3.2.0-33 kernel...he then suggested that I try the new
3.7.0--rc7 kernel for
raring ringtail to see if the bug was there ...it appears to be there also...

I suspect the problem to be associated with my Nvidia graphics card or
driver not being compatible with the new kernels...

[Bug 946758] Re: Format string overflow in Monitor.c:check_array

2012-07-05 Thread Tim Frost
80 bytes may not be enough on a server running in 64-bit mode with a
large disk/array, given that the format string is 41 bytes lonmg -
including 2 '%d' variables . How many digits could there be in the
longest possible number of mis-matches on a system that has a raid
partition of maximum supported size?

[Bug 1018671] [NEW] mismatch between ocfs2-tools version and kernel

2012-06-27 Thread Stephen Frost
Public bug reported:

In at least 11.10 (likely 12.04 as well, however...), the ocfs2-tools is
behind what the 3.0 kernel is creating on disk. This can be seen
trivially by attempting to examine the locks on an ocfs2 filesystem:

===# debugfs.ocfs2 -n -R fs_locks /dev/dm-1
Debug string proto 3 found, but 2 is the highest I understand.

The 1.8 tree in the ocfs2-tools git repo includes support for proto 3.
That set of tools should probably be distributed with 11.10 and up, so
that the tools match what the kernel is providing.

Not having the tools match up to the kernel makes things very difficult,
like trying to debug locking issues.

[Bug 971313] [NEW] plasma-desktop freezes on login if non-executable files are in ~/.kde/Autostart

2012-04-02 Thread Jason Frost
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Release: Kubuntu 12.04
Package Version: 4:4.7.4-0ubuntu0.1
Expected Results: Normal functionality of plasma-desktop
Actual Results: plasma-desktop slowed to an intolerable crawl

Have reproduced this bug twice so far, when I have a .sh file without +x
in ~/.kde/Autostart, after a few seconds (loading startup apps), plasma-
desktop slows to a crawl, almost freezing - it actually does function,
but not enough to count, Kickoff takes over 5 minutes to load.

[Bug 578848] Re: Not starting gw6c - no server key

2012-03-31 Thread Jason Frost
Hi, I know this is a very old bug report, but it's still valid - the
same error happened to me today.

As said in the original report, running gw6c once will download the key,
but the reason why it won't work for everyone is because keys are
rejected if you're redirected to a hostname other than the one in your
gw6c.conf file - the solution to this is to put the final server you are
connecting to as the server in your gw6c.conf, so for mine, as I connect
to sydney.freenet6.net, I had to set my server to that.

Once this is done, the workaround in #2 is not necessary.
