[Bug 1643334] Re: root-ca-cert.crt could not be used

2017-02-02 Thread Addie GS
I am having this problem on a corporate network with an internal CA. we
cannot view any internal sites because there appears to be *no* way to
get webbrowser-app to accept our internal CA, even while all other
browsers on a system accept it.

We are using version 0.23+16.04.20161028-0ubuntu2.

[Bug 943663] Re: [needs-packaging] Request for libreoffice-help-tr Package

2012-03-01 Thread Gs-Kobzeci
Thank you for your quick response.

turkish help is currently at 44% completion. That does not yet warrant it to
be packaged.
Please help improving the translations upstream and when the translation is at
80% it will get packed

I am one of the tr-localizators of LibreOffice. And, yes, thats the
reason why i wished it to be packaged. I and my friends are working hard
to increase the pct of the help contents. However, working on a updated
version of LibreOffice will be better to translatecompare and
understand the help strings.

It will be better to find a way to install TDF's deb packages. (There is
no Linux distro serving LibreOffice 3.5 help files for tr even no for
3.4x, even only Pardus serves help files but it will not update due to
EOL)

BTW, i respect to your critera, but i see that, Galician is at %54pct
Slovak is at %58 and Hindi is only %12 and they are packaged, is there
something i miss?

[Bug 943663] [NEW] Request for libreoffice-help-tr Package

2012-02-29 Thread Gs-Kobzeci
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Turkish help package of LibreOffice is missing in the repos. [1-
http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/libreoffice-l10n-tr]

It will be very nice to have Turkish embed help for LibreOffice. [2-
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/tr/]

TDF's (.deb)help packages cannto be installed due to the dependencies
[3-http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.5.0/deb/x86/LibO_3.5
.0_Linux_x86_helppack-deb_tr.tar.gz]

1-I am using 11.10 Oneric
2-LibreOffice 3.5
3- Having Turkish embed help in LibreOffice
4- Unfortunately l10n package has no tr-help

Best regards,
Zeki

[Bug 905128] Re: Unity 3D test failed when attaching external monitor

2011-12-19 Thread GS Narayanan
I could access the 'Monitor Preferences' application to perhaps try
 different display settings.

The above line (in paragraph 6 of Bug Description, after
connecting the external monitor / broken display) should read

I could not access the 'Monitor Preferences' application to
perhaps try different display settings.

[Bug 905128] [NEW] Unity 3D test failed when attaching external monitor

2011-12-15 Thread GS Narayanan
Public bug reported:

Installed Oneiric Ocelot on an Alpha 32 bit laptop with 16gB memory,
Omega 3D Video controller, 4gB Video memory and
Omicron screen display with a 640 X 480 native display resolution.
Display during installation and post- installation operations went OK.
Monitor preferences were adjustable.
Then started the system tests.
Connected an Epsilon external monitor to the VGA port of the laptop.
This resulted in a broken display, which is shown in
the attachment problem1.png
I could access the 'Monitor Preferences' application to perhaps try
different display settings.
Power cycled the laptop. The problem persisted.
Disconnected the external monitor and power cycled the laptop. The
operations were normal in the single monitor mode.
Connected the Epsilon monitor to a Zeta 32bit desktop, running Oneiric
Ocelot, with Video controller and memory
similar to the laptop. The display was OK.
No problems were seen with Unity 2D or Nattie Narwhal either. The
external monitor could be connected OK.

In addition to problem1.png, I have attached the following
logs.

   syslog
   dmesg
   kern.log
   Xorg.0.log
   messages
   gconfd.log

   Note:

   1. In the screen capture image, it may be noticed that the width of the
offending wide, narrow and dark grey rectangle
equals the width of the 'Monitor Preferences' application. So a horizontal
shift somewhere in the driver code may rectify
the problem.

2. problem may be related to Bug # 830949

[Bug 431091] Re: libstdc++5 removal breaks non-ubuntu applications

2010-05-06 Thread gs
I did not run into this until now because Karmic had other deal breakers
for me. Now that those are gone in Lucid here is an even bigger one.

From the time passed it looks like this is not going to get fixed?

There is a real world out there and it is not purple. Some of us have to use
software that is one or more of proprietary, binary, and old. No recompile
possible.
The suggested fix is possible, but that is besides the point. One reason for a
comprehensive package management system is to not have to do things like this.
Why should I jump through the hoops setup by Mr. Kitterman and Mr. Young when
it would have taken one of them less time to package the library instead?
After all, libstdc++5 is still in debian testing (eventually to be squeeze) and
unstable. Why remove it and not simply leave it in? It breaks nothing but makes
live easier for dozens and probably hundreds of people. Do something nice and
don't be like the Redmond guys.

installing from ubuntu-10.04-beta2-alternate-amd64.iso succeeded, but
it fails to boot as well.

The Latitude D620 laptop has nvidia graphics, so possibly this related
to the new nvidia graphics driver.

2010-03-26 Thread gs
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 457688 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457688

I originally filed this bug against 9.04, which predates bug #457688, which
first appeared in 9.10. So without any testing I can say for certain this bug
is different. None of the reports mention the graphics that are used and hence
are quite irrelevant to this bug. This bug never occurred with nvidia graphics
enabled. It is of course possible that the problems described here are fixed in
Lucid if you get visual to run in the first place, but in this case my bet
would be that this is not because of the fix for bug #457688 but rather because
of changes elsewhere in Lucid.
I'll try to test Lucid if I get around to it but I make no promises. As you
noticed I tested this rather exhaustively last summer trying to get 9.10 fixed,
but I can't justify putting that much time into this again without receiving
any useful feedback. I run several computer labs at a university and they all
run debian now because of this bug and #457688.

[Bug 443183] [NEW] launchpad link report a bug does not work, redirects to info page instead

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu releases tested:

Error occurs on 9.04 32bit, 9.04 64bit,, 8.10 64bit
Error does not occur on 8.04 32bit, 8.04 64bit
Not tested 8.10 32bit

How to reproduce:

Clean install from CD
aptitude update
aptitude safe-upgrade (this step is optional, has no effect on outcome,
positive or negative)
aptitude install python-visual
(Important! Do not activate proprietary graphics driver.)
run test as shown above

What happens if one activates proprietary graphics driver (For these
tests I used the menu option to install the drivers):

No change with ATI/AMD graphics cards. Errors (seg faults) occur exactly
the same as without the proprietary graphics driver.

With Nvidia graphics cards test 1 and 2 do not seg fault.

Reproducibility (hardware tested):

6 different computers (2xnvidia graphics, 4x ATI/AMD graphics) 1 Dell, 1
Dell laptop, 1 Lenovo laptop, 3 different custom builds.

A third test case has slightly different behavior:

Test case 3:

Observed outcome

~ $python
Python 2.6.2 (release26-maint, Apr 19 2009, 01:58:18)
[GCC 4.3.3] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 from visual import *
 quit()
Segmentation fault

Expected outcome:

~ $python
Python 2.6.2 (release26-maint, Apr 19 2009, 01:58:18)
[GCC 4.3.3] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 from visual import *
 quit()
~ $

Test case 3 works on 8.04.3 AND 8.10, but fails on 9.04. Unlike test
case 1 and 2 installing proprietary graphics drivers on systems with
nvidia graphics does not change the negative outcome.

This last error is less severe than the first two, because it happens
when exciting the python interpreter. Still it is very annoying.

Additional remarks:

Same behavior for new upstream version (5.12_release), compiled from
source.

python-visual is used heavily with novice programmers and a seg fault
instead of an error message for a simple syntax error is deadly.

python-visual on debian lenny works on all tested hardware.

[Bug 390495] [NEW] Multiple live CDs on same USB stick boots filesystem on incorrect partition

2009-06-21 Thread GS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: casper

I wanted to create a multiboot Ubuntu live usb stick so that I can demo
the various Ubuntu flavors easily. I partitioned a usb stick and put
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty live CD on one of the primary partitions on it which
boots fine using grub, either using the chainloader command or directly
booting the kernel and initrd on the partition.

I then tried another Ubuntu-based distro (Linux Mint 7 in my case, but I
think this problem manifests with the official distros as well) in a
larger numbered partition (both physically and logically), but while the
kernel boots and the correct splash image was displayed, when the
desktop finally comes up it is Jaunty desktop from the first partition,
instead of the Linux Mint desktop.

[Bug 271518] Re: slurm sbatch command fails

2008-10-23 Thread gs

[Bug 271518] [NEW] slurm sbatch command fails

2008-09-17 Thread gs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: slurm-llnl

version used is ubuntu 8.04 (hardy), architecture is amd64
source package is https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/slurm-llnl/1.2.20-1

$sbatch jobscript
leads to the following error (reported in slurm-jobnumber.out)

slurmd[hostname]: error: execve(): /var/run/slurm-
llnl/slurmd/job7/script: Permission denied

using srun,
$srun jobscript
the job runs fine if the executable bit is set for jobscript.
If the executable bit is not set for jobscript, the job fails with the error

slurmd[hostname]: error: execve(): jobscript: Permission denied

The executable bit of jobscript has no influence on whether sbatch fails. It
looks to me that
/var/run/slurm-llnl/slurmd/job7/script gets created without the executable
bit set leading to the error.
