[Bug 1677398] Re: Apparmor prevents using storage pools and hostdev networks
I finally had time to revisit this. It appears that not only did my patch not connect to the remote libvirtd storage driver (as Christian pointed out), but that the storage driver does not establish remote connections at all. As such, I agree with Christian that my patch is a dead-end and would also advise anyone finding this now to avoid applying it, even temporarily. Has there been any forward movement on the other proposed solution? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677398 Title: Apparmor prevents using storage pools and hostdev networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1677398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1677398] Re: Apparmor prevents using storage pools and hostdev networks
Thanks for subscribing me; I'm a launchpad newbie and didn't realize that wasn't automatic when I posted here. I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my recollection. #1 I can't remember exactly why I needed to drop the storage driver load; I think the local storage driver it started didn't have all the configuration I needed to resolve the disk paths (probably needed the pool config). If I remember correctly, after reading around the source code it looked like I could get it to connect to a remote storage driver automatically by eliminating the local one. #2 I agree that we can't always know where libvirt.conf is, but here I allowed the default that was in use by my system to move forward. Other locations could be allowed, and a more general approach would be a good idea. #3 I had inspected those structs using gdb when I was working on that patch, but don't have an example on-hand right now My memory of why I was doing this is hazy at this point. I think I was trying to grant each VM access to only its own disk layers (so adding to the profile template does not accomplish this), and I needed virt-aa- helper to traverse a qcow image's backing chain to grant read access to the parents (which didn't work without resolving it's path). I'll try to find time soon to look into the cause of the failure you mention. My patch did work for me and I've been starting VMs with the generated profiles, but it's very possible I broke something else. I don't have a ton of experience with libvirt yet. Sorry if this is obvious, but it's been a while since I was working on this: what do you mean by "setting up a new storage context" in your last comment? This is somewhat off topic, but why does the AppArmor security driver use a helper binary (virt-aa-helper)? If it's mostly historical reasons, would there be motivation to move the logic from the helper in-process similarly to the SELinux driver in the future? It seems like that might simplify accessing information of the sort we're talking about here (e.g. pool configs, hostdev network info).

I've written a quick patch that seems to fix the storage pool side of this issue, at least for dir/fs like pool types. It does connect to the libvirtd socket; I saw that there was some concern with that approach earlier, but this solution didn't require any changes to virt-aa- helper's calling conventions. Are we still opposed to having virt-aa- helper connect to libvirtd? A couple notes about what is needed to use this, which might be obvious to those more experienced with libvirtd than myself: * You may need to use a common file extension for the AppArmor profile to allow virt-aa-helper itself to inspect your image files. * If you also need the AppArmor profile to allow read access to a backing file chain, your domain will need to have a driver element in the disk device definition, with the type attribute set appropriately. ** Patch added: "virt-aa-helper-support-pools.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1677398/+attachment/5325076/+files/virt-aa-helper-support-pools.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677398 Title: Apparmor prevents using storage pools and hostdev networks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1677398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device
Can I just check that all the people here reporting phone issues have unlocked the phones? For example, if you need to enter a passcode or draw a shape to use your phone, it also won't let a computer access it until you enter the same code to unlock the phone. That's a feature of the phone rather than a bug in Ubuntu (Ubuntu phones also do this). It will also drop the connection as soon as your phone shuts its screen off again after a period not being touched. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314556 Title: Unable to mount Android MTP device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1314556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 992232] Re: no libreoffice-report-builder in precise
Apologies. I don't have the exact update but it was the last update from the libreoffice-universe repo perhaps 3 days ago. I neglected to take note of the update because I didn't pick up the bug for a couple of days. The Tools < Options crash is; * not present in 3.6 but base is very unstable in 3.6 and the forms crash. (installed from PPA libreoffice-prereleases) * is present in the libreoffice-universe repo version * is present in 1:3.5.3-0ubuntu from main. * is not present if installed directly from Libreoffice website. Base and report builder work out of the gate with this install - Ver 3.5.4. The only slight issue is I had to load 64bit Mysql connector from Open Office. Each install had a fresh config folder. libreoffice-gtk3 was not installed on any of the versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/992232 Title: no libreoffice-report-builder in precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/992232/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 992232] Re: no libreoffice-report-builder in precise
The update yesterday has introduced another interesting bug on my machine. When you go Tools < Options it crashes LO. Have depreciated versions, purged config files and repositories, tried various Betas and custom builds from various PPA's and just haven't been able to find a combo where everything works as advertised. In exasperation went to Libreoffice web site and downloaded and installed from there and bingo... everything works (including report builder) except table filtering by date and I can live with that. I am a huge fan of Ubuntu and LO, but 12.04 has been the worst Ubuntu experience since I started using in 2007 (I like the direction but the bugs seem never ending). Grumble over. [Bug 1016724] [NEW] Laptop brightness always reverts to maximum on 12.04
Public bug reported: Whenever I start my laptop the brightness is at maximum. If I turn it down (I set it to minimum) it returns to maximum if I change user account. To be clear, it will still be maximum if I then switch back to the original user account. Very occasionally it has also reset to maximum when I switch workspace, but I can't recreate this behaviour consistently so I'm wary of saying it's the same problem. My expected behaviour is that the brightness level should stay where I set it, as it did in previous releases. [Bug 1012025] Re: update-grub not reading UUID's properly
I think you could be right. For no good reason I'd commented out the line #UUID=9d6412d7-0277-4b1e-b56e-76eb9fb7e898 / ext3 errors=remount-ro 0 1 on the source partition, so the new one was the same. Nothing else was effected, the old one still booted ok, so I didn't notice. The interesting thing is that it seems grub2 didn't find that line (unless it did a grep /), so I spose it then just kept the old "linux /boot/vml..." line. I don't spose we can really call this a bug then - software writers can't be expected to cope with every unusual dumb thing that people might do. Thanks for your help. [Bug 1012025] Re: update-grub not reading UUID's properly
Phillip On _no_ partitions did /etc/fstab mention /dev/sdc7, or its UUID. sdc7 didn't exist til I made it with gparted about 10 mins before I partimage-restored the 12.04 precise os. to recap, The 'copy from' (the old) partition was sdc1, UUID 898 The 'copy to' (the new) partition was sdc7, UUID changed to 000 sda7 was just a old natty narwhale OS that I tried reinstalling grub from. Does that help? I spose the big question is, where does grub2 get the uuid's for the 'search' line, vs where grub2 gets the uuid for the 'linux' line. [Bug 1012025] [NEW] update-grub not reading UUID's properly

(actually booted, but to repair menu, which I couldn't understand.) 5) On both other OS's grub.cfg kept reading as follows (note last 3 chars of UUID) :- search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root 9d6412d7-0277-4b1e-b56e-76eb9fb7e000 linux /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-23-generic root=UUID=9d6412d7-0277-4b1e-b56e-76eb9fb7e898 ro quiet splash $vt_handoff 5) When I edited the starting grub menu to make linux898 -> linux~~~000, and update-grub + grub-install, sdc7 booted ok. I struggle with bash, but I suspect /etc/grub.d/10_linux line 124 linux ${rel_dirname}/${basename} root=${linux_root_device_thisversion} ro ${args} is the culprit. garrytr...@gmail.com ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1012025 Title: update-grub not reading UUID's properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1012025/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I asked a Linux expert to help me on this. The following are the steps I followed. He then asked me to edit "/var/lib/dpkg/info/flashplugin- installer.prerm", & delete all packages that weren't installed, including iceape-flashplugin. I use Mythbuntu. I had fallen behind in upgrading, because I was reasonably happy with the stability of 10.10. However, when the message came that updates were no longer supported, I decided to upgrade, progressively, through 11.04, 11.10 & 12.04. Further to this, I identified that package adobe-flashplugin, ver. 10.0,22.87-1 is broken. Re: [Bug 577545] Re: "gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256" on log in
Hi Jessie Firstly, this bug does not seem to affect anything that I (as an end user, like yourself) could detect. Clearing the message seemed enough to be able to proceed with booting & using the PC. I have now moved on to 11.10. This bug went away by 11.04. I don't know how 11.10 would go in an eeePC, although it is supposed to be designed as an all-round OS... I use a desktop PC, so I can't comment on your eeePC issues, but it sounds awful for you. One of my daughters has an original eeePC (the small screen one). We haven't tried to change the OS, as it just keeps on going (the speaker has died). My understanding is that the ASUS version of the OS was tailored to the HW - one of the reasons I didn't like to try a different version of Ubuntu. In spite of my lack of IT training, I am a volunteer in a computer recycling depot (in Australia). We rebuild PCs if they are OK, generally 5 year old, with Pentium 4 CPUs, using the Ubuntu OS. We are finding that drivers for the older hardware are not always supported in later versions of Ubuntu (we are working with 10.04). Have you thought about trying one of the lighter versions of Linux? Or and older version, particularly an LTS (long term support) version? [Bug 850106] Re: Fails to append sent mail to mbox in post-processing
I am getting the error as reported in this bug. I installed 11.10 on 29/11/11 & requested Evolution to be my mail package. As soon as I sent some mail, I received the error message as reported in 850106. I checked bugs, found #850106, & read that on 2011-10-25 it was confirmed that it was fixed in Evolution 3.2.0, & subsequently closed. I would like #850106 to be re-opened. [Bug 681945] Re: Xorg.log flooded with specific Xalloc warning message about 0 size memory
I am using 11.04. I have had problems with displaying the Grub boot menu, plus getting a warning from the monitor (Dell 24 inch) about matching the resolution. After much "research" & some trial & error with changing Grub2's input files (GFXMODE & VGA=), I now have the grub menu, but I do get an Ubuntu error msg (about VGA=, which I realise is unrelated to this bug). So I tried running in recovery mode & that is when I received the error msg about memory. I have an nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9500 GT] (rev a1) chip on a card, & "using" NVidia accelerated graphics driver (version 173), although the Additional Drivers tool says that it is activated but not in use (I have read that this msg is incorrect). I previously had the "version current" installed, but changed it when it also said that it was not in use... I also get a major failure when I try to return to the desktop (from a console), using ctl/alt/F7; only the bottom half of the screen shows anything, but it is gibberish. Re: [Bug 667071] Re: Folders opened by wrong application
Hi Jack, Thanks for pushing me to look at this again. Yesterday, I went through the "open with other applications" a dozen times, but I am sure that the "remember..." check box was not there. it was this time! And with the "remember this application for XYZ files" check box pre-ticked! This pre-ticking was the start of this bug earlier this year; I thought that the plan was to remove the default tick, but I seem to remember a discussion that the developers removed the "remember..." facility completely... Although I am confused now as to why or what, I will look out for the tick in future! Regards, Garry. [Bug 667071] Re: Folders opened by wrong application
Hi, I just did a little more testing. It seems to remember the last used application for .jpg & .avi, but in an inconsistent way. If try to open a .jpg, it "opens" with movie player. If I change it to open with image viewer, it opens OK, but if I close that window, then select another .jpg, it "opens" with movie player. If I try to open a .avi, it fails to open (with an error message), but has image viewer set as the default. [Bug 667071] Re: Folders opened by wrong application
Hi, This may be a new bug, or just a nuisance... I was a subscriber to the original bug; the workaround was OK. I upgraded to 11.04, earlier this year. Recently, something seems to have changed: when I click on a photo (.jpg), I expect it to open with image viewer, as it has "always" done (I have been using Ubuntu since 2005). However, it now opens with movie player, showing a blank window, as the file is not a movie. I did have some short .avi videos mixed in with the set of photos, so I suspect that one of these has triggered the open-with movie player. However, now that there is no way to change the default application, I seem to be stuck with having to individually use the open-with feature whenever I want to look at photos. Any suggestions? [Bug 861799] Re: banshee using 100% cpu
Same issue. I had Banshee minimised to dock, put my hand down beside the laptop to pick up something and the fan was churning hot air at an alarming rate. Killed via system monitor. There seems to be no program combo I use that seems to create any issues (been playing with combos and watching the resources) The only thing I have noticed, is that the amount of processor resources seem to change markedly depending on the bit rate of the file being played (and not in the uniform manner I expected) At 88 kbps - 8% At 145 kbps - 8% At 256 kbps -50% At 353 kbps - 24% I can recreate this on multiple files quite easily. All. The update didn't seem to fix the problem. The good news is I have found a work around for my garbled input (at least for my system) Go into Skype 'Options' < 'Sound Devices' and deselect 'Allow Skype to automatically adjust my mixer levels'. Next go to the 'Sound Settings' and click on the 'Applications tab". From Skype make a test call. In the applications tab you will see two sliders come up. Move the top one about a third of the way to the left of the available travel. You should now have functional call out. [Bug 781403] Re: Save & Save As does not save in both Firefox & Gedit
Hi Sebastien, Thanks for looking at this. Less than 1 week after I submitted this bug report, I upgraded to 11.04, & no longer have this problem. Do you still want me to try & do something about this? If so, I need some guidance. I appreciate that the following is probably not in your area. Can you suggest what I should do about it? I do have a different problem (#778864), so I thought that I would try the backtrace suggestion in your post & load the debug tools. However, when I used the terminal & followed the instruction, there were errors with synaptic's reload: W: Failed to fetch http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/natty-updates/Release Unable to find expected entry 'deb/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) E: Some index files failed to download. Thinking that this was the problem, I re-entered them individually, using the repository GUI. Again I received error messages. Unfortunately, I moved on without saving these messages. [Bug 789687] [NEW] Save As within Firefox works intermittently
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox 1. Ubuntu 11.04 2. Firefox 4.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.3 3. I had used Firefox to get some information from the internet. I clicked on "save as", expecting it to proceed from there. 4. The "save as" window opened, but it was blank white. It had worked on one occasion a few minutes earlier today. This document was mostly text with some formatting (a motherboard specification from ASUS). The next window I selected was a photo of the motherboard. This is the one that failed to save. As this had also happened yesterday, I decided to report the problem. After triggering Apport & sending that information, the Launchpad login screen came up (as expected). At this time, the Save As screen changed from blank to showing the previous folder to which I had saved, plus the folder contents (normal). However, when I tried to change the file name, from the website's name to a more meaningful one, I couldn't delete or enter into that field. I then clicked on the save button (to allow it to save to the folder & file name shown), but that had no effect. The small window that gives details of a download then appeared, but it was white & empty. I was able to close the download window & the Save As window. Yesterday, I worked around the problem by copying the image from Firefox to LibreOffice Writer, & saving that file; this worked OK, but I would prefer to use the Save As function in Firefox. I reported a problem (781403) with Save & Save As a few weeks ago, but it went away. I assumed that some fix had been made... Apart from the initial white screen, it's behaviour was not the same as in this report. Regards, Garry. [Bug 783728] Re: Contacts window froze after selecting a contact
This morning, I tried to access contacts. Presumably as I had not cleared the contact's name yesterday, the same contact as yesterday was in the summary window. Again the window was not responding to open the contact's detail pages. When I clicked on "File", "open contact" & "V-card" were greyed-out. Clicking on "clear the name of this contact" had no effect. I forgot to mention yesterday that I received the following response after trying to click on several spots, including "mail" & the "X" to close the application. "The window "Contacts - Evolution" is not responding. Forcing this application to quit will cause you to lose any unsaved changes." After clicking on this, Evolution closed. It reopened OK. Otherwise, Evolution seems to be working - receiving mail, sending mail, getting addresses from the address book. [Bug 783728] [NEW] Contacts window froze after selecting a contact
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution 1.Ubuntu: I upgraded to 11.04 on Sunday 15/04/2011. 2. evolution: Installed: 2.32.2-0ubuntu7 3. I wanted to access a particular contact. 4. From the Inbox window, I selected contacts, then typed a partial name in the search box. That name & summary details came in the next window. However, I could not open the contact's detailed set of windows/tabs. I could not close the window. The mouse & keyboard stilled worked, but could not be used to do anything on the window. I was able to use ctl/alt/D to return to the desktop. Eventually, I minimised the main window (I can't remember what changed to enable me to do this), then maximised it. Both this window & the contacts window were greyed-out. I was able to close the windows. I then re-opened evolution & used "report a problem" to get the opportunity to report the bug. Regards, Garry. [Bug 781403] [NEW] Save & Save As does not save in both Firefox & Gedit
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit Ubuntu 10.10 Gedit 2.30.3-1ubuntu1 Firefox 3.6.17+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.10.1 This error occurred in 2 different situations. Firefox: I had been browsing a website, found some useful information, then saved it (using save-as). This worked OK. I then selected another item, but when I tried to save it (again using save-as), the name of the file darkened, but the save-as panel did not close, nor did the file get saved. I closed the panel & tried again, but with no success. Gedit: In the meantime, Update manager popped up with some updates, so I allowed that to proceed. There was a problem with installing mythtv-common (once again; already reported bug #778864), so I took a copy of the listed information, & copied it to Gedit, planning to save it if needed later, but this failed as for Firefox. [Bug 616287] Re: umountfs doesn't cleanly unmount / on reboot
I have Mythbuntu 10.10 on one PC, & Ubuntu 10.10 on another. I haven't noticed this bug on my Ubuntu PC (I don't think that I get any close-down messages displayed). On Mythbuntu PC, I upgraded to 10.10 (from 9.10, via 10.04)in in March 2011. I have starting seeing this bug recently. I don't regularly watch the closing-down messages, because I close-down just before I go to bed each night. I have the OS + /home all on the same partition of an 80GB HDD. I have 2 other HDD (320GB & 1TB); these are mounted on /mnt, & used for all of my recorded TV, plus other videos. I don't remember the age of the 320GB HDD - this could be 3 years old. The 1TB HDD is 1 year old. They are about 50% full. All HDDs are ext4. The PC itself is from a new build 3 years ago. I had been thinking that I needed to replace the 1TB HDD, due to what seems to be disk errors, but this bug report seems to suggest that the problem may be in Ubuntu. I am getting various odd behaviours, but these are subject to a different bug report: . pauses during playback . exit to desktop from within playback (i.e. Myth frontend shuts itself down while paused or at the end of a recording, before I have a chance to delete the file). . some others Regards, Garry. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616287 Title: umountfs doesn't cleanly unmount / on reboot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 747882] [NEW] Update failed during "tidy-up" stage; computer now broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Since the computer is broken (i.e. it won't boot), I can't access any details. I am sending this report from a different (Mythbuntu 10.10, MythTV 0.24) HTPC. I had copied the various error messages into a file to attach to this report, but when I tried to load Update Manager to use apport, the system went strange. 1. Ubuntu 10.10 2. I had updated all of the recently released updates. The one that was sent available to me around 08:00 April 1 (GMT + 11) - 7 packages, I think - is the one that failed. 3. I expected the update manager to its its job & install the updates. 4. The download completed OK. However, while handling package #3 (I think) - something about *lib*, it failed with messages something like: "mounting /dev on /root/dev failed; no matching file or directory." "mounting /proc on /root/proc failed; no matching file or directory." "mounting /sys on /root/sys failed; no matching file or directory." I can't remember the circumstances of the following messages. Update Manager twice came up with the message " updates downloaded, but not installed, at which time I clicked on the "install updates" button. Any application that I opened after that just showed an empty screen, & could not be closed. I am not sure whether I was able to shut-down the system normally, or whether I had to use the restart power button. "target filesystem doesn't have requested /sbin/init; no init found. Try passing init=bootarg one message flashed too quickly for me to get all of the words. manprobe (?) fatal Could not open /lib/modules. Bad magic number in /dev/sda3 (where I keep /home) The superblock could not be read, or does not describe a correct ext2 file system (I am using ext4) /home terminated with status 8. On another boot, it gave the message that ? was not mounted, continue, ignore, ?, manually fix. [By the way, 10.10, was giving me that message on almost every boot for a while, but then stopped giving it. When I got that message, I used to reboot. After 1 or more tries, the system booted without that message. I also used hibernate to shut-down sometimes; this message did not appear when booting from hibernate. This particular sda is about 5.5 years old. I am retired, but work in a computer recycling depot as a volunteer. Just last week, they changed their distro to 10.04 LTS, but have found that the above problem comes up regularly on a rebuilt PC (i.e. with older HDD); the boss told me how to use e2fsck to check & clean the problem hdd.] I had Ubuntu 10.04.1 on a live CD. I tried to boot using that, but it failed with complaints about sda. I had mythbuntu 10.10 installed on a HDD. I tried to boot using that, but it also failed with complaints about sda. When I removed sda, myth booted OK. So, I am in a mess, particularly as my latest /home back-up is nearly 6 months old. I had a small disaster 6 weeks ago with my last attempt at back-up (my fault; incorrect parameters), so was still cleaning up from that before making a new backup. [Bug 738982] [NEW] Calendar alarm notifier would not notify any events
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Note: I have finally resolved this. However, there may be an inherent bug that needs attention. Ubuntu 10.10 Evolution 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.3 I regularly add alarms to calendar events. Ever since I changed to 10.10 over 4 months ago, these have not displayed. My change to 10.10 was via a fresh install, as my 10.04 system had never worked well (I still get that 254 notification - minor problem). To do this, I backed up my /home files, & Evolution settings, & restored these after I had installed 10.10. Today, I discovered that the Evolution Alarm notifier in Start-up Applications was requesting to run file "/usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution". However, when I checked in my system, the file there was" /usr/lib/evolution/2.30/evolution". Editing the Start-up Application resolved the problem. However, clearly for 4 months or more, the Start-up application would have been failing, but there was no indication to me that this was happening. This the bug that I would like you to consider. Thanks, Garry. [Bug 707346] Re: Window/toolbar overlap in vertically stacked monitor configuration
Similar occurs with the primary monitor set to the lower screen, with ATI graphics card (open drivers). Two monitors connected by VGA, one 1440x900 (top) the other 1600x900 (bottom, primary). Gnome panel only on lower monitor. When maximising a window on the lower monitor, the bottom of the window will stop where it meets the lower panel. The top of the window continues under the top panel (but does not go all the way to the upper monitor), obscuring the titlebar and window control buttons. Maximising windows on the upper monitor works as expected, not intruding onto the lower monitor. I don't know if the bug would still persist on my machines with the latest Ubuntu but a flaw in the startup code is not something I would tolerate for long. (I came to Ubuntu from NetBSD --- you know it's reputation for quality --- and moved on from Ubuntu to Archlinux which has worked out well for me). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554172 Title: system services using "console output" not starting at boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
