sorry, i'm somewhat out of date, a pgmr for ibm for 25 years and retired for 25 years just as linux was developed. i will try more testing using old non-system76 laptops, i suspect they will fix it, sure someone else will hit upon it meanwhile thanks for looking into it, if i can find anything i will add to this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566010 Title: xenial install ok, reboot: nothing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1566010/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 993901] Re: 8086:4237 wifi not working in Precise gUbuntu xUbuntu
I did specify that NO WIFI was available. Each of the problems are a show stopper for me - that is why I have been so frustrated with the new release so that instead of getting a new run of the mill cheaper laptop I went for the more expensive Sys76 which is geared for Linux (it is on its way from CA to NY). Prior to the upstream with rc6 I tried to install one of the Quantal kernels but it would not install. I have not tested Quantal yet but will do so today or tomorrow and let you know. I have done three fresh installs of Precise and two of Mint (never used Mint before and still prefer xUbuntu). Note that on the Lenovo-Y530 initially, before Nappy, I had to download a driver from Intel for wifi to work. I have not retried this but did try copying some libs hoping that would work. After trying that and failing I did a re-install at least once. If I am the only one complaining about this problem then let sleeping dogs lie. However it is strange that after two years of solid performance all these problems suddenly recur - yes, I had problems with sound, suspend/hibernation before, several times. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993901 Title: 8086:4237 wifi not working in Precise gUbuntu xUbuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/993901/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 993901] Re: 8086:4237 wifi not working in Precise gUbuntu xUbuntu
WiFi now working on rebuild of Precise as well as on Live-USB Precise and Quantal. I have had similar problems before with installs in other areas where certain items were not working but clean installs generally would clear them up.For some reasons I also may have modem or interference problems: generally wifi on Verizon-FIOS works perfectly on one PC but lapses on other PC's - even when in same room. Sorry about confusion over other problems which are a show-stopper for me. Since the problems are now gone I am simply marking problem as invalid, something I probably did on my end or gradually resolved with upgrades/fixes.

[Bug 964158] Re: xbubuntu beta: suspend+hibernate not working
I think the problem is fixed with latest updates. An Asus-eee works well with an UPGRADE from xubuntu-Oneric or test via a LIVE execution with USB-drive. However on the Lenovo-Ideapad-Y530 always required (run at boot time): echo shutdown /sys/power/disk I had found this fix about about 3 years ago on internet and always for this PC had to do apply it for suspend/hibernate to work. Another problem I had was with audio, apparently this has been fixed as well. Re: [Bug 975389] [NEW] new install of x-ubuntu beta failed
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 975426 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/975426 I redid install, that worked with no problems, however one thing is VERY SERIOUS: default install would erase entire disk, THIS SHOULD NOT BE as one may be too quick to reply without thinking clearly (although you may have a safeguard on the next screen - fortunately I would never test that on purpose). There are problems with suspend and hibernate which I will discuss on another bug report previously opened. - George J. [Bug 964158] Re: xbubuntu beta: suspend+hibernate not working
Did a new install with a x-precise-64 of 5 Apr on a Lenovo ideapad-Y530 with 64bit intel processor: Suspend starts but leaves a faded screen in place allowing only a power off to accomplish anything Hibernation as above is not allowed (I did not try forcing it by executing via sudo pm-hibernate, but that probably will work) ergo: KEEP THIS BUG OPEN. I will keep checking this on both notebooks: AMD-Acer-Aspire-one722 and INTEL-Lenovo-Ideapad-Y530 weekly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964158 Title: xbubuntu beta: suspend+hibernate not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/964158/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 964158] Re: xbubuntu beta: suspend+hibernate not working
MOSTLY FIXED: did complete re-install with beta+ as of 31Apr SUSPEND works well now (tried only once) HIBERNATE not displayed on settings or session-menu BUT if executed via root as PM-HIBERNATE it now appears to work well. I did not install any additional drivers for this laptop - perhaps this was the problem.

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). [Bug 852560] [NEW] ogg123 in Oneiric-64-Xubuntu: plays too fast
Public bug reported: Most audios play at normal speed, but those converted to use 1/8 space run about 2-4 times faster. This only occurs with latest version. I run ogg123 thru mc (midnite commander) by pressing enter. Just rechecked natty-x and maveric-gnome versions, run fine there. ** Affects: vorbis-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/852560 Title: ogg123 in Oneiric-64-Xubuntu: plays too fast To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vorbis-tools/+bug/852560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 830641] [NEW] oneiric X ubuntu: earphone kills all sound
Public bug reported: 1-Upon inserting earphone, speakers drop off, losing speaker sound and never getting earphone sound. 2- While playing thru speakers and opening sound icon, turning to headphones and unflagging it, speaker sound lost, then upon plugging earphones still all sound off until I reenter icon and turn up speakers. 3-In any event: inserting earphones kills all sound until icon/mixer controls are manually reset. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/830641 Title: oneiric X ubuntu: earphone kills all sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/830641/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
