[Bug 998414] Re: Black screen Sony HMZ-T1 (HDMI) with Intel drivers, 12.04
Just adding some info. When I add the "nomodeset" flag to the kernel boot parameters, the screen now appears, but fixed in 800x600 mode. I also get access to the tty's on F1..Fx. It's starting in low-graphics mode still though and cannot be reconfigured to 720p. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998414 Title: Black screen Sony HMZ-T1 (HDMI) with Intel drivers, 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/998414/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 998414] [NEW] Black screen Sony HMZ-T1 (HDMI) with Intel drivers, 12.04
Public bug reported: I've installed Ubuntu Pangolin 12.04 on a Mac Mini and sometimes use a Sony HMZ-T1 as the display device. On Ocelot everything worked fine, but since Pangolin I get no X screen, not even the tty's on F1/F2. When the mac starts up, I'm getting 720p image output from the bootloader and grub. Then when X is started, the screen goes black and the video glasses report "No signal". Both kernels work on my TV for this HDMI port, so it's just the goggles. I switched to a previous kernel (3.0) on Pangolin and there I do get a display! I've captured the Xorg.0.log from both sessions. The 3.2 kernel boot where the display doesn't work doesn't report an error. I've diff'd both Xorg.logs and the only differences look like the kernel versions and some other input device processing: < ] Current Operating System: Linux carneiros 3.0.0-16-generic-pae #29-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 14 13:56:31 UTC 2012 i686 < ] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-16-generic-pae root=UUID=96d490bf-fcb9-4db1-b782-a71c686469a5 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 --- > ] Current Operating System: Linux carneiros 3.2.0-24-generic-pae #37-Ubuntu > SMP Wed Apr 25 10:47:59 UTC 2012 i686 > ] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-24-generic-pae > root=UUID=96d490bf-fcb9-4db1-b782-a71c686469a5 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 16c16 < ] (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sat May 12 13:33:27 2012 --- > ] (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sat May 12 13:36:17 2012 60c60 < ] (II) Loader magic: 0xb77915a0 --- > ] (II) Loader magic: 0xb77345a0 407a408,416 > ] (II) config/udev: Adding input device HDA Intel PCH SPDIF In > (/dev/input/event10) > ] (II) No input driver specified, ignoring this device. > ] (II) This device may have been added with another device file. > ] (II) config/udev: Adding input device HDA Intel PCH Line > (/dev/input/event11) > ] (II) No input driver specified, ignoring this device. > ] (II) This device may have been added with another device file. > ] (II) config/udev: Adding input device HDA Intel PCH Headphone > (/dev/input/event12) > ] (II) No input driver specified, ignoring this device. > ] (II) This device may have been added with another device file. 446c455 < ] (**) Option "config_info" "udev:/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.7/usb1/1-1/1-1.2/1-1.2:1.0/input/input12/event3" --- > ] (**) Option "config_info" > "udev:/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.7/usb1/1-1/1-1.2/1-1.2:1.0/input/input15/event3" lspci -vvnn output: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0126] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [ VGA controller]) Subsystem: Apple Inc. [Bug 205307] Re: dmraid on latest hardy beta core dumped
Apologies. This is a bad bug report. It was only due to the inability to replace the older package. I attempted to remove, but it reported a very bad inconsistent state. I actually managed to get everything working and dmraid of this PPA package fixes the problem for me. I did the following: * Edited sources.list to use the standard urls. * apt-get update * used "apt-get remove dmraid" > error: package in very bad inconsistent state. * renamed /etc/init.d/dmraid to /etc/init.d/dmraid.bak * removed old package. * edited sources.list. Added the PPA. * apt-get update * apt-get install dmraid > no problems installing "Version: 1.0.0.rc14-0ubuntu3~ppa1" * dmraid -ay > no problems or crashes * restart -> voila! everything works on 8.04! -- dmraid on latest hardy beta core dumped https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205307 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've decided to upgrade today to Heron and unfortunately encounter this issue still, even after putting your PPA in my sources.list.
